Chapter 2: A New Year A New Beginning
Hey, guys! Please point out any mistakes, and if you've stayed this long for an update, I'm concerned xD Really sorry for not updating though. 😖 And thank you for reading if you are.
"So are you excited for school?" Serena asked, looking up at me.
"Of course," I grinned.
"As of expected," she giggled.
"I bet you don't know the real reason I am though," I grinned.
"Are you sure? I think I know you pretty well, if you ask me," she laughed again.
"I'm sure."
"Well then what's the real reason?" She asked, swinging our arms back and forth with our fingers still interlocked.
"Because I get to spend a lot more time with you now," I grinned giddily, my mind deciding to tighten my grip on her soft hand.
I saw Serena's cheeks slowly turn into the shade of pink and she leaned in towards me, resting her head on my shoulder as we continued to walk down the sidewalk and over towards school.
"Well then I can only guess that you know the reason I'm happy to go back to school too."
I laughed under my breath, "To spend more time with me?"
"No." She said, almost leading me to fall.
When she realized I went deathly silent, she just laughed, "I'm only joking. Of course I'm happy to spend time with you." She said, pushing me to the side playfully with a bright smile that made my heart melt all the way to my stomach.
I just smiled and let her rest her head on my shoulder again, her hand still wrapped with mine.

We eventually made our way to school, nothing but the sun in the sky. And it was probably the best walk I ever had to school. My heart wouldn't stop sending waves that made me warm as I continued to hold Serena's hand with her head laying on my shoulder. As if something was alit inside my heart.
We crossed the street and went towards the spot where our friends always hanged out, but I decided to stick with Serena and follow her towards her friends, forgetting about what was to come if I did.
When all of Serena's friends came into view, I first saw Dawn's head whip around and point towards both me and Serena when I realized my mistake.
"SERENA!" I heard Misty specifically yell, failing her arms above everyone else.
I looked over at Serena and saw her face turning pale. I guess I'm not the only one worried about getting pummeled.
Then, out of no where, I saw May run up to Serena and jump on top of her, giving her a hug, but leading Serena's grip on my hand to be broken.
"MAY, THEY WERE HOLDING HANDS, YOU RUINED THE MOMENT!" Iris exclaimed.
May released Serena from the hug and sweat dropped, "Sorry. Couldn't help myself."
Serena only managed a nervous smile and put her hands in front of her, trying to be as calm as possible.
"I CANT BELIEVE YOU TWO ARE A THING NOW!!!" Dawn yelled a little too loud, students on campus turning their heads as they walked by.
"Dawn, could you be any louder?" Misty asked, looking over at her, laughing.
"Yes, would you like to hear me?"
"NO." Everyone, including me and Serena, said in sync.

With the new schedules all in hand and the extra time before school started, everyone compared their classes.
"So we're all on team 12, right?" Misty asked, scanning her schedule in her hand.
"Yeah, I'm on team 12!" Dawn said, fist pumping the air next to her.
"Yep," I said, giving a thumbs up.
"Mhm," said May.
"Yeah," Serena smiled.
The only one who wasn't answering was Iris, and we all turned around to face her, finding her still examining her school schedule.
"Iris?" Misty said, leaning in towards her to take a peek at her schedule.
But before Misty could even look at the paper, Iris jumped up in the air, almost hitting me with her right arm as her left almost hit Misty in the chin.
"YES! OH, THANK GAH. I'm on team 12 as well!"
Misty blocked her face with her hands in protection and asked, "Why did it take you so long!?"
"Sorry. Couldn't find where it said my team number," Iris laughed nervously, scratching her cheek with her index finger.
"Geez. You scared the living daylight out of me," May sighed.
"Anyways, I have Language Arts for first period!" Dawn shouted out first.
"Same," Iris smiled, looking up from her paper.
"I have Math," Misty said, slamming her forehead into the paper.
"Me too," Serena frowned.
May looked up from her paper. "Yeah. I have Math as well."
"Science," I said grumpily, finding myself the odd one out. "But I have Language Arts second period."
"I do too!" Serena beamed, looking up from her paper and shooting me a smile.
"I have math after Language Arts," Iris laughed.
"I have science," May muttered.
"Science," Misty said cheerfully.
"I have science too," Dawn grinned.

Some were in class alone while others were crowded with others. I hope this year will turn out fine.
I looked up from my paper and looked over at Serena who was smiling down at her schedule, and I couldn't help but smile with her. And that's when I knew. This year will be amazing.
