Chapter 45 - Playhouse
"What's the Playhouse?" Gabriel questioned, approaching the door. Standing tall behind him, Mommy answered, "A dreadful place really. In the old days it was a place of fun. We kids would play games and run around without a care in the world. Now it's infested with bad blood and wistful thoughts."
"That sounds... horrible..." Gabriel managed to squeak out. He didn't like anything that Mommy had just told him. Rubbing his arms nervously as he eyed the door, he muttered, "Anything else I need to know before I willingly enter this place?"
"Beware of the little ones, they pack a powerful punch if you know what I mean," Mommy replied. Her green eyes widened as she thought of something. Motioning to Gabriel to stay put, she stretched her arm to a platform hanging above their heads. When her hand returned, she was holding an orange Grabpack hand shaped like a gun. "It's Playtime's very own flare gun," the spider-like toy explained, giving the weapon to Gabriel, "It'll charge up its ammo on its own but your max is five flares. Use them wisely. The little ones don't like the light."
"Got it, thank you. Do you know where the generator is in Playhouse?" Gabriel asked. Thinking for a moment, Mommy replied, "Playhouse doesn't have one I'm afraid." Bewildered, Gabriel exclaimed, "Then why are we going through there?! Why not get out of the school?" Lowering her head down to the human's level, Mommy spoke softly, "Because despite the danger waiting for you inside, Playhouse is much safer than the school at this very moment." A pit forming in his stomach, the middle aged man mumbled, "Does Catnap know?"
"He most likely does, especially since Miss Delight is, for lack of a better word, compromised," Mommy stated. Resting her right and the nub of her left arm on Gabriel's shoulders, the toy pointed out calmly, "I need to take a different route but meet me by the slide, that's the way out of Playhouse. Be safe."
"You too. See you on the other side," Gabriel declared. He watched Mommy Long Legs head up to her route before he turned to the Playhouse door once more. Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly, he opened it and entered the horrors awaiting him.
