Chapter 15 - Rejects

Gabriel wasn't sure how long he had been crawling through the vents but at last he could see a light up ahead. Hopefully it meant the end of the endless tunnel was coming up. However, death did seem better than staying in this forsaken toy factory. Crawling out of the ventilation shaft, the middle aged man found himself in a dimly lit room with shelves overstocked with toys. But strangely enough, Gabriel didn't recognize any of these toys as a part of Playtime Co's lineup.

"What is this place?" Gabriel wondered aloud. Approaching a curious looking flower toy with creepy blue eyes and white petals, he noticed a piece of paper taped on the shelf he had found the toy on. Taking the paper, he read quietly to himself, "Rejected toy. Daisy, small marionette. Deemed too scary for children, test audiences cried during Daisy's performance." Turning his gaze back to the toy in his hand, Gabriel murmured, "Poor Daisy, I bet my little sister would have loved you." He quietly stood there for a moment before placing the toy in his bag. Maybe his sister would still love Daisy despite being an adult.

"So, I must be in the rejected toy room," Gabriel remarked as he walked around, his eyes scanning every part of the room. He had heard many tales of this place from his coworker Rich. Poor man got sent down here after being ratted out by his supposed best friend Avery. Gabriel felt bad for Rich but he couldn't help but smile when he remembered what his pal called this place. The Island of Misfit Toys, that's what Rich always said.

"Alright, how do I get out of here?" Gabriel asked himself. As fun as it was checking out all of the toys that never made the lineup, he wanted to get out of this place. And so far, he wasn't seeing any doors which was odd. He felt trapped right now. Maybe that's why Rich hated this place so much. Wandering over to the back half of the room, the middle aged man spotted a control panel. Above it was a crane.

Walking up the steps to the control panel, Gabriel found something else that piqued his interest. A huge Bron statue stood in front of what appeared to be another tunnel. It was a way out, but only if the statue was moved. Eyeing the crane, an idea formed in Gabriel's head. Shooting up the blue left hand, he used that to steer the crane along its track until it was right above Bron. Using the new green hand, he got some power from an outlet and used it to fire up the crane. Then he pressed the button on the control panel, allowing it to pick up the Bron statue. Without missing a beat, he quickly steered the crane out of the way just as the power ran out and the statue was dropped. The path was clear.

"That wasn't too bad," Gabriel commented to himself once more. The middle aged man shook his head. He really needed to break that habit before it drove him insane. Then again, the man was all by himself. Entering the tunnel, he set off on his way towards the Game Station. Hopefully, it was close by.
