Chapter 18 - Because You Are An Exception!
Rakshit's POV
"May I come in, Rakshit sir?" I heard Vinay's voice.
"Yes Vinay, come in." I sighed heavily. For a second, I felt if Minnie came to the office or what. Coz that girl is crazy! Completely crazy.
"Yes Vinay, tell me, what happened? Any work pending?"
As far as my memory was involved, I was all done with today's conferences, just I had to go through some files.
"Sir, somebody has sent this to you, and ordered... precisely instructed me to deliver it to you now only."
"What? And who has demanded that?"
" The Great M.. Mrs. Drishti Rakshit Shergill." He said gulping and passing me the look, ' I can't help' as he hinted towards the phone he was holding and revealed that he was on a video call with Minnie
Smart little Minnie!
"Show me."
"Sure sir." And he handed me almost 30 - 40 small wooden crates.
"V..Vinay! Are you sure these are for me?" I glanced at the mobile and then at him.
"Yes sir."
Grabbing one out of 40 boxes, I unlocked it and narrowly restrained myself to not smile looking at that. I ordered Vinay to go out, and luckily he took that phone with him.
Isn't her hand fractured?
Did she write it on all the boxes?
I strode to the other side of the table and sat on the chair beside the one with boxes.
I knew that.
My Minnie is lazy.
An exception is to be given.
All hail her fractured hand.
I nearly spent 30 minutes opening all the boxes.
Nice try Minnie!
But not so soon!
Picking up all the boxes and keeping them, or rather say trying to keep them in my cupboard amongst all the files, I drove away to my home.
An hour later...
The house was never so barren. My wristwatch showed it was 7:30 in the evening, but the mansion was all lifeless. The television was switched off, which was extremely rare at this time of the day. The room was warm. Only the living room's main light was switched on, and all others were just turned off.
Not at all getting positive vibes, I paced towards the kitchen for drinking some water.
Where is everyone? At Minnie's place? But nothing such was planned.
I'll contact Shikhar.
'The number you have dialed is currently switched off.'
Why is his phone switched off? And that too at this point of time?
Before I could conclude anything, my phone began ringing.
"Dad. Where is everyone? And why is anyone not in the house?? Where are you? Is everyone with you??"
"Rakshit, Rakshit.. we are at the Sharma's."
"At the Sharma's? Is anything wrong?"
"Rakshit I think you should freshen up and come here quickly."
"Ok, I am coming."
Wasn't everything perfect until this evening? I believe even Drishti's mood wasn't bad. Why is everyone at her house? And Shikhar? Why the hell is his phone switched off?
Parking the car quickly in front of the Sharma Mansion, I rushed inside directly only to find my parents sitting.
Vidya mom was elucidating something to my mom while dad and Sarthak papa were just looking at them blankly.
"What's going on here?" I stepped towards them.
"Rakshit! Finally, you are here." Sarthak papa said smiling all of a sudden.
"Is something wrong dad?"
"Look Rakshit, now you have to mend the mood of 2 dumbos. One, My sister, and second my elder daughter. Because anyone currently present in this house is not able to do that." Sarthak papa remarked.
"What?! What's wrong with my mom and Minnie?" I couldn't help but giggle.
I mean, c'mon, why does it always have to turn out something giddy? Can't it be something serious?
Enough of seriousness in your life!
Mhmmm.. yeah.
"Your mom and your Minnie! Their mood's out because of this." My dad said showing me that article of 'Drishti Sharma met with an accident, Is Rakshit's Mom Mahima Shergilll behind this?'
"Not Again Mom! C'mon, even you know this is fake, why are you even brooding about it. You are a businesswoman and even you know how bad the media is. You are just overthinking."
"But Rakshit...."
"But what Mom? But what?! You are just stressing over silly things and wasting your time." Folding my hands I sat on the sofa looking at mom to speak something. She was thinking something intensely.
"Just forget about it, mom!" I got up and began pacing towards Minnie's room.
I don't want to spoil my plan of' me not knowing her'. That little devil Minnie needs to be taught a lesson.
I slowly pushed the door of her room. There she was sitting on the bed with many more such wooden boxes beside and her laptop was stuck between all the sketch pens, pages, crayons, and all the stationary. But she was lost somewhere. She was gazing beyond the window, assumably thinking about that article.
Entering inside and locking the door behind me, I initiated walking towards her. I stood in front of her bed and folded my arms across my chest.
She gradually moved her head towards me and came out of her daze after witnessing me.
She rubbed her eyes and again looked at me.
And she does this when she is faking herself.
"What are you doing here?" That spark in her voice wasn't there. She glanced at me plainly. Walking towards her, I made some space for myself on the chaotic bed while she continued goggling at my acts.
"If you are going to continue your 'Who are you' drama, then please, I don't want to talk to you, please. Just go away." She declared sighing and looking away from me.
Drishti's POV
They say actions speak louder than words. Whoever said this, usko meri taraf se shatshat naman.
I peeked at him once, and then again looked away from him. If he doesn't want to talk, then even I don't care. Let me witness for how long does he continues his melodrama of not knowing me.
Through my peripheral eyesight, I saw him shifting close to me.
Ok, Ok, Pulse, calm down.
As I slowly moved my gaze towards him, I saw him outstretching his arms. I looked at him and without wasting any second, I dashed into his arms, taking care of my fractured hand though.
I missed this so much.
He, maybe, chuckled and enveloped his arms around me. And slowly tightened his grip around me.
"I assumed you were going to continue your melodrama?!"
Was there any need to remind him?
Eh...
"Yeah. But I still don't know you. I suppose you are Divi's sister. Aren't you?"
"Divi nahi, Divya Mr. Shergill."
"Yeah. Sure." He voiced this sighing.
"If you don't know me, that means I am a stranger for you."
".....Yeah." His voice was all muddled.
"So why will you embrace a stranger?"
"......Because you are an exception. You are my person."
Was I grinning?
No, not at all.
I mean, c'mon, who won't smile when someone expresses something like this?
"Do you know what is heart's favorite shade of red is?" I heard him whispering slowly.
"It's beat red!" And he was undoubtedly smiling.
I freaking understood why he said this!! He definitely heard my accelerating heartbeats.
"Moreover, I can't see such a gorgeous girl, sitting all alone in a corner with a really foul mood." He continued exaggerating in a sugarcoated voice.
"I am not sitting in a corner, nor do I have a bad mood."
"Eh... I meant the corner of the bed. And you definitely have a bad mood."
"Excuse me?! First, you say I am a stranger to you and then you say I have a bad mood. How illogical is that!"
"C'mon, every illogical thing is not that illogical! And I never said that you are a stranger to me. You were the one who concluded that."
"O, please. Keep your weird calculations with you only Mister!"
"Stop acting so mature!" He said in a complete sugary voice and separated himself from the hug passing me the most sugary smile displaying off all his teeth like a monkey.
Wait... What does this imply? He just stated I was acting mature?!
I am not grown??
Wait for a second! How dare he offend me like this? How can he declare I am immature.
"I think you should have dinner. It's quite late. The doctor had stated you should go to bed early." He said standing up and crossing his arms across his chest as he saw me glaring at him.
"And how the hell do you know that? ILLOGICAL!" I made sure that all the emphasis was on the last word.
He passed me a smirk and began sauntering towards the door. I kept looking at him but he walked away.
I left the breath that was stuck inside me for quite a long time.
Feeling much better!
I couldn't help but grin. I meant, he just comforted me and even did not end his drama of not knowing me.
I know, how magical!
He's the best!
No doubt.
I laid back and cleared my bed to take a nap. After all, I was on a task to make him talk to me like before.
It was about a good half an hour later, that I heard some sounds of shuffling which roused me up from my dreams.
I slowly sat straight and stretched my arms. Through my partly open eyes, I noticed Mickey in the room with a dish in his hand.
"Mickey! You here? *yawn* Didn't you go home? Where were you then?" He passed me a look, that said, ' Shut up girl! Take a break.'
I narrowed my eyes at him while he walked in my direction. I sat straight and peeped into that crock and peeked at him, while he passed me a ' behave, Drishti!' look.
This boy always keeps on ordering. Huh.
He kept that plate on the side table and stepped towards the washroom, probably to wash his hands. Drying his hands with his handkerchief, he came and sat beside me. He took that dish in his hand and was about to rip the piece of Roti when I heard,
"Stop scanning my actions so keenly." And I snapped my head towards my balcony. Oh so nice breezes blowing in.
"Where were you all this time?"
"I was feeding my mom."
My mom? Mahima mom is my mom! Huh. I didn't have any problem to argue with him on this, but let's leave it for some other day.
I hope Mahima mom is all good by now.
"Here." He continued, forwarding a morsel.
I moved my head sidewards, definitely denying him, and said,
"No, I don't want to have it. I'm full already." Though I was hungry, that didn't mean I would keep my ego aside and let him feed me, at least when he was acting such.
You know, you are just behaving like a child.
"Keep your Ego aside and stop behaving like a child. I know you are hungry."
"What the..." And he stuffed that bite of food into my mouth.
"Shh! No curses Miss Stranger." He stated stuffing another bite in my mouth.
How the hel...
Have you lost your understanding too or what? He said, NO CURSES!
How does he always ....
Good.
..know what my mind says?
"Your expressions are enough, Miss Stranger."
I always lose in front of him.
That's what love is.
I stayed quiet all the time and silently ate everything he fed. He looked at me when the dish became empty.
"How could your already 'full' stomach hold a place for 5 big rotis? Will you like to throw some light on that?"
I looked everywhere except him. I heard him chuckling and shaking his head. I narrowed my eyes at him while his smile vanished and looked at me like an unfamiliar person.
When will this end?
"You should sleep now." He articulated and quickly walked out of the room.
What the... hell happened to him all of a sudden?
He must have been hungry.
Sighing, I laid down on my bed and switched off the lamps.
A few minutes later, I heard some footsteps, and they were probably coming towards me. I felt the duvet being slide over me while its fingers brushed my arm.
Mickeyyyy!
I stayed still and managed to deaccelerate my heartbeats.
I felt him fondling my hair softly and I could envision him smiling peacefully. He placed his lips softly on my forehead and stayed still for some time, as I could hear his pacing pulse.
I heard him sigh, and then the footsteps faded away slowly.
There was a sound of closing the door and now I knew I could sleep peacefully.
Good night mickey!
But I felt someone wrapping his arms around me. The touch was similar but definitely not of Mickey.
Who the hell is he?
I pushed the hand over me and switched on the light... and I was shocked to see the person sleeping beside me.
