Kokichis pov

We were sitting in the living room together. Kaito was talking away while I ignored him. I was successful until kaito mentioned something that blew my mind.

"you know I think we make pretty good friends"

I looked up at him in disbelief "you can't be serious"

"but I am!" he insisted "I think we're got a pretty stable friendship going on. Don't you?"

No

"sure we had a bit of a rough patch but we got through it and if that doesn't make us friends I don't know what does!"

Stop talking

"I'm pretty glad we're talking now" he smiled at me "I worry about you you know"

Lies all of it lies!

"and together I think we can move past all that happened in that school-"

"shut up!" I yelled glaring at him "why do you insist on being so nice to me? I killed your best friend stupid! How long do you plan on ignoring that!"

He turned to me and punched me in the face! "you didn't kill shuichi you idiot! He killed himself to protect me. How long do you plan on living in the past? When are you going to realise that not every little thing is your fault!"

I was too shocked to speak. Kaito doesn't blame me for what happened?I felt warm, wet tears run down my face. Am I crying?

Kaito pulled me into a hug "don't worry my little star. Everything's ok now. I forgave you a long time ago so I hope you can forgive yourself" I cried harder at his words. This whole time I've wanted to hear those words.

And he gave me that without a second thought.
