E x M #8 (Jealous Much?)

Elaine chuckled slightly as another burst of laughter sounded from across the table. She watched as the three of her friends crowded around Nevada's cell phone, enjoying a hilarious video on YouTube together.

Just a minute ago they'd gotten their coffee and come to sit down in the booth at the little cozy cafe. As soon as Nevada had pulled out her phone, Martinus had moved away from Elaine's side to join Nevada and Marcus in viewing the prank video. Elaine didn't mind so much, except people kept giving her loud friends some angry glares.

"Oh my God!" Nevada exclaimed, covering her mouth with her hand.

Elaine shook her head. To her, their reactions were much more funny than the video. She reached down and swirled her coffee, smiling into the cup.

"Elaine?" She heard a voice say beside her.

She jerked her head up, taking notice that her friends were still engrossed in the video, and she saw a young man with sharp blue eyes and a friendly smile standing at their table.

"Jason!" Elaine cried, returning his smile.

"Fancy meeting you here," he said, motioning to the seat next to her. "May I?"

"Absolutely!" She replied, moving over to give him some room.

Elaine caught Martinus giving the two of them a glance. She gave him the "behave-we're just friends" look. Martinus reluctantly returned his eyes to the phone.

"So, I see your company is busy with something obviously hilarious." Jason said, giving the three of them a quick examination.

Marcus and Nevada didn't even notice they had just gained a party member. Martinus, however, noticed all too well.

"Yeah," Elaine replied, smiling at the trio. "Nevada showed me that video a million times already and she just had to show the twins as well."

Jason smiled and nodded at Elaine while Martinus gave him a dark glare.

About five minutes later, Nevada finally looked up and realized they had another person at the table. She elbowed Marcus and paused the video. Marcus gave and a confused look, prompting her to point to Jason.

"Hey, there," Nevada said to Jason, slipping her phone onto her lap.

"Nevada," Elaine said, setting her empty coffee cup down. "This is my friend, Jason!"

Nevada smiled and nodded to him.

"And of course, Marcus and Martinus, you've met Jason before, right?" Elaine asked.

"I believe so," Jason said, nodding. "You're the award winning Norwegian pop duo."

"That's us!" Marcus replied proudly.

Elaine saw Nevada staring at Marcus' overly prideful face. Elaine knew how cute Nevada thought he looked when he got super proud of his work. She decided to push Nevada to talking to her friend instead of drooling over Marcus.

"Yeah, you've probably not ever met Nevada though, because she's not really in the music industry. She's actually an actress!"

The friendly cafe conversation went on until Nevada told them she had to bail because she had a meeting with some old cast members to attend to. The party dispersed shortly after that, with Marcus leaving to pay for the coffee and Jason heading off to who knows where.

Martinus and Elaine stepped out of the cafe together.

Elaine looked up and saw Martinus' face. He looked kind of ticked off.

"Aww," Elaine said, reaching down and grabbing his hand. "Are you pouting?"

"No," Martinus mumbled, looking away from her.

"Well then, what do you call that?" Elaine asked with a laugh, pointing to his face.

"My face," he replied.

She laughed at him again and shoved his shoulder with her own, causing him to stumble slightly. He gave her a fake angry look but it quickly faded to a grin.

"There's my happy Tinus!" Elaine said with a wide smile. "Lighten up, babe! Jason is a nice guy who happens to be in the same industry as us! We're bound to meet him again and again."

"I don't wanna meet him again," Martinus replied.

"I don't ever want to meet half the people in our league again, but that's life." Elaine informed him.

He gave her a sideways glance.

------------

"Whacha giggling about?" Martinus asked, stepping into the kitchen.

Elaine was sitting at the bar of her house on a tall stool, leaning on the countertop and giggling at her cell phone.

Martinus narrowed his eyes suspiciously when she didn't answer him.

"Elaine?" He asked. She finally looked up at him. "Who are you texting?"

"None of your business." She muttered with a grin, turning back to her screen.

Martinus instantly became suspicious and jealous. He heard a loud honk from a truck outside, which definitely meant Nevada was here. Which at once gave him an idea.

"Y'all have ten seconds to do what you gotta do so I can come in that room!" Nevada called out as she slammed the front door shut and entered the house. "Ten. . .nine. . .eight. . ."

At "zero" Nevada sauntered into the room and tossed her keys on the counter top. But Martinus instantly motioned for her to follow him back out. Nevada gave him and odd look and followed him to the living room.

"I need you to find out who she's texting," Martinus whispered to her, pointing back to the kitchen.

Nevada gave him confused look.

"Ask her yourself," she said.

"Shh!" He hissed. "I tried, she won't tell me."

Nevada's face lit up instantly.

"Ahhh!" She purred, stepping closer to him with a sly look in her eyes. "I'll do it, but some payment is required."

Martinus gave her a glare. She just cocked an eyebrow and smiled.

"Come on, how bad do you wanna know?"

Martinus sighed and rolled his eyes, giving in. Besides, it wasn't that hard to bribe Nevada. There was a million things in the world that she was obsessed with, and one of those things happened to be his twin.

"There's one of Marcus' 'lost' hoodies in Elaine's linen closet." Martinus growled. "I hid it there last week when he told Elaine about the whole 'pine tree' incident."

"Now we're talking!" Nevada exclaimed softly, quickly swirling around and trotting to the closet. "You can count on me, compadre!"

Martinus rolled his eyes again. He watched when Nevada came back around the corner, wearing Marcus' simple black hoodie. She was rubbing her hands together and looking really devious.

"Watch out, Elaine," she said in a low voice. "Private eye Nevada James is on your case!"

Martinus smiled slightly and shook his head at her, wondering how on earth he managed to befriend this quirky actress.

Nevada disappeared around the kitchen corner this time. Martinus strained to hear what they were saying.

"Hey, friend," Nevada sang as she stepped into the kitchen, heading straight for the fridge.

"Hey," Elaine replied, still on her phone.

Nevada let Elaine sit quietly for a moment as she rummaged through the refrigerator for something to eat. Finally, she settled on just a snack and sat down across from Elaine.

"So," Nevada sighed. "What are you up to?"

"I'm texting someone," Elaine said vacantly.

Nevada rose her eyebrows when Elaine giggled again into her phone.

"Why do you have to text Martinus, he's in the other freaking room just use your words and talk for Pete's sake," Nevada said. Of course, she knew it wasn't Tinus who she was texting. She was just trying to push Elaine into spilling the beans.

"I'm not texting Martinus," Elaine said flatly, giving her a 'duh' look.

"Who are ya texting then?" Nevada asked, taking a bite of her food. "Wait! Is it Jason?"

"Shh!" Elaine growled, glancing at the living room where Martinus was.

"He probably already heard," Nevada replied matter of factly, shrugging and grinning a bit.

Elaine stared at her friend in confusion before a gasp suddenly escaped her lips and an amused smile threatened to cross her face.

"Traitor!" She exclaimed, realizing what was going on. "I should've known you were working for him when I saw that mischievous twinkle in your eyes! And the hoodie! What, is he paying you with Marcus' stolen stuff now?"

Nevada tried to hold in her laughter, but Elaine saw the smile on her face.

"Traitor!" Elaine repeated in an amused hiss.

Nevada shoulders shook in a silent laugh. She swallowed her food really hard before she turned her eyes up and looked directly into Elaine's eyes.

"You know, just in case," Nevada said slowly. Elaine shouted for her not to dare, but Nevada contined anyway. She cupped her hands around her mouth and called, "Martinus! She's texting Jason!"

"You little-!" Elaine cried, surging forward and trying to grab Nevada's hands. But Nevada had already lept off her chair and scurried to the other side of the room.

"Get back here!" She exclaimed.

"No way!" Nevada squealed, shaking her head back and forth as she slowly backed out of the room.

"Imma tell Marcus that you stole his hoodie!" Elaine threatened, chasing after her slowly.

"I didn't steal it! It was given to me!" Nevada replied. She had now run all the way into the living room.

Elaine glared at her friend, who was trying to sheild herself with Martinus. He was just standing there, rolling his eyes at Nevada as she peeked her head around his arm to watch Elaine.

"Do you really want Mac to know that you're doing Martinus' dirty work in exchange for his stuff?"

"Elaine!" Nevada whined. "It's just one time!"

Elaine laughed when she realized she had a new barging chip for Nevada.

"You better keep your mouth shut!" Nevada exclaimed, pointing at Elaine, who was doubled over with laughter.

"You mean like you just did in the kitchen?" Elaine barely managed to ask between laughs.

Nevada scowled at her. Martinus seemed slightly amused at the whole scene and Elaine couldn't find a trace of jealously on his face anymore.

During the next week, Elaine caught Martinus giving her jealous glances everytime she picked up her phone to text anyone, which was mostly just Jason anyway. And everytime he did, she bit her lip and tried to withhold her giggle.

She actually really liked it when he got jealous, she thought it was super adorable when he pouted silently as he longed for her attention.

"Tinus," Elaine finally said one day. Martinus lifted his gaze to her. "You know it's really cute when you get all jealous over me texting Jason."

Martinus instantly turned sour. He went back to watching the television.

Elaine felt a smile cross her face.

"Come on, Tinus," she said, patting the cushion next to her.

Martinus glanced at her and moved with a sigh. He sat down and returned his attention to the television. Elaine leaned over and laced her hand in his.

"Martinus," she said softly. "You know you're the only guy in the whole entire world that's right for me."

Martinus kept his eyes on the tv but she saw his face soften.

"And I wouldn't want anyone else by my side, no matter what." She continued, smiling at his sweet face.

Martinus turned to look into her twinkling brown eyes.

"Thanks, babe," he replied, smiling too.

He let go of her hand and wrapped his arm around her waist, leaning over and resting his lips on her own.

(Random Picture of Marcus and Martinus here for no reason)

I swear, I had the stolen hoodie idea before I saw CED's story last night. Great minds just think alike! (Plus, I really love hoodies).

If y'all enjoyed this little story, please go check out CEDELAINE1's book titled, "The Ultimate OTP". It's similar to my book here, so I'm sure you'll love it!
