Northern Lights, Lovely Nights

[LuciferXHades]

------

"Let's take a trip."

Hades stared at the black print words on the screen of his tablet, thinking perhaps he'd misheard his lover, only to feel an intense stare following the words. He lifted his electric blue eyes to stare across the room where Lucifer had just stepped out of the bathroom from a hot steamy shower. The archangel's thick blonde hair was damp, darkened by the water, falling in loose wet curls around a handsome chiseled face shadowed by dark facial hair, sapphire blue eyes sparkling with excitement at the prospect of a vacation.

"A trip?" Hades asked dryly, uninterested in a beachside retreat with massage oils and nude beaches. He wasn't particularly a fan of beaches. Or vacations in general. Vacations meant freetime and free time meant thinking and thinking could lead to some dangerous territory for a male struggling with depression. Not that he'd felt such recently. In fact, he'd felt better than he ever had in ages.

"Yes," Lucifer said, coming over to sit on the sofa in just a towel. Hades's eyes lingered on the droplets of water that ran down Lucifer's chest, like it was a race to get to his cock. Hades was rooting for the one on the left near his nipple.

"Set doesn't want me in Duat," Hades said absentmindedly watching the droplets. Set had basically banned Hades from the realm after Hades had played with him a little a while back, and Hades couldn't believe Set would be so childish, but, Hades supposed, he had touched the god's cock without his permission really. So he could understand it. He hated the desert realm anyway.

"I wasn't thinking Duat," Lucifer answered, a twitch in his eye indicating he was relieving the same incident in his own mind, but whereas Hades felt nothing about it, Lucifer felt searing jealousy, and Hades savored the gleam in Lucifer's blue eyes, "I was thinking... Alaska." Hades blinked, his eyes snapping up from the water droplet race to meet Lucifer's. There was a twinkle in Lucifer's eyes, like the idea was thrilling to them. The both of them together in a cabin in the wilderness, snowed in and all alone.

"The mortal realm," Hades deadpanned. His first response was to disapprove of the idea. He wasn't allowed in the mortal realm. Zeus had expressly forbad it after he'd taken Persephone. However, the brothers had been on better footing recently. So much so that Hades had lunch with Zeus on a regular basis and Zeus seemed to allow him to now freely leave his realm whenever. At the same time, there was still a lingering fear of going anywhere near the mortal plane.

What if Zeus changed his mind suddenly? He was prone to it.

What if they were attacked? It wouldn't be the first time.

What if Lucifer was just taking him there to tell him something he didn't want to hear? Whatever that was.

The anxiety fluttering his chest made him shift uncomfortably, his eyes dropping down to his tablet again so he could pretend he was checking his social media pages. Though, none of the status updates or messages really caught his attention because he was now wondering where this idea was coming from, why did Lucifer want to go, why Alaska.

"You're allowed to leave now," Lucifer pointed out, clearly sensing Hades's discomfort with the discussion, "You're allowed to see everything you've ever wanted to see. And we can finally get some alone time without one of our children popping in with a problem." Hades wasn't so sure about that. Sure, it was annoying to have their alone time ruined by some brat needing something or another, but it also made Hades feel safer, knowing that his children, or Lucifer's for that matter, could come to them whenever they needed something.

"Why?" Hades asked at last. Lucifer smiled and he reached out, touching the side of the tablet to turn it off, making Hades scowl and look up just in time for Lucifer to get right up in his face, connecting their lips. Hades felt a moan creep up his throat as he felt the tablet slip out of his hands, distantly hearing Lucifer put it on the coffee table until he could pin Hades down on the sofa, propping himself up over top of the Greek god.

"Because I want you all to myself, just for a weekend," Lucifer added, reaching up to brush a lock of hair from Hades's face, "I want to shower you with affection until you drown in it." Hades grimaced.

"You do that anyway."

"Just give me this, Hades, without a fight. Please."

Damn it. Damn the archangel. Damn those sapphire eyes of his. Damn the heat in them.

And damn it, the left water droplet had lost the race and instead fell off Lucifer's abdomen and fell on Hades's pant leg, leaving a darkened stain on the black material. Hades lifted his electric blue eyes to meet Lucifer's.

For once, he'd humor his angel.

"Fine," Hades said at last, and Lucifer's face lit up like the goddamn sun, making Hades grimace and shield his eyes, "Turn it down, angel, we got shit to do before we just take off."

"Of course," Lucifer agreed, climbing off Hades and immediately heading for his computer in the corner of the room, "I'll start looking at places to go, see if there's anything perfect. Do what you need to do. I'll call you in the morning." Hades narrowed his eyes, sitting up slowly. He had a raging hard-on from Lucifer little kitten play. No way was the angel getting away that easily.

He heaved himself up from the sofa, moving silently to get behind Lucifer at the computer. He grabbed a handful of Lucifer's hair and yanked his head back so those surprised sapphire eyes were staring up at him, lips parted in the beginnings of a protest. Hades lowered his head and smashed their lips together, bit Lucifer's lower lip, resulting in a low growl from the angel.

Hades parted his lips against Lucifer's, tongue dipping in between the angel's, searching and carving out his name in Lucifer's breath. Lucifer moaned, reaching up to slide a hand through Hades's hair, savoring the silky softness of those long black locks that fell around them like a curtain of privacy.

Hades pulled away, coming around to the front of the seat, plopping himself down into Lucifer's lap. Lucifer watched him, those eyes flashing from blue to red, then back again. His fangs had elongated, the ivory points flashing in the lights overhead. Hades captured his lips again, running his tongue along those fangs, reaching down between them so he could undo the zipper in his pants before untying Lucifer's towel, leaving the angel naked in the chair.

Without a word, Hades took Lucifer's cock in his hand, thumbing the sensitive tip, relishing the hitched gasp Lucifer gave at the touch. Lucifer's hips arched up, his hand reaching forward to grab the back of Hades's neck. Hades leaned in again, taking Lucifer's lips. Lucifer growled, his blue eyes flickering shut, then opening again to reveal the blood red irises.

"When was the last time you fed?" Hades murmured against Lucifer's lips. Lucifer nipped at his bottom lip as an answer and Hades moaned, his eyelids fluttering shut. Lucifer's tongue swept over the wound, licking away blood, sealing the cut shut and leaving the Greek's lips bruised and swollen.

Lucifer kissed his way down Hades's neck, licking the place where his pulse pounded. Hades squeezed his cock and Lucifer growled, nicking Hades's throat with his fangs. Hades laughed breathlessly, then gasped as Lucifer snatched him up by the hips and stood up with him, an ease that no other would have carrying a seven foot god.

He dropped Hades on the desk, shoving the computer keyboard and monitor back up against the wall. He snatched Hades's jeans down roughly, tearing them off and throwing them to the floor before he dropped down and bit right into Hades's thigh over the artery. Hades hissed, grabbing a handful of Lucifer's hair in his fist. He tilted his head back against the wall, reaching with his other hand to grab at the computer itself to have something to hold onto. Lucifer suckled at his thigh, drinking gulp after gulp of the fresh hot blood that was like a heady spiced wine sailing down his throat. He moaned at the taste, moaned at the way Hades arched his hips, desperate to have something touch his cock.

Giving him a level of reprieve, Lucifer reached up to take Hades into his hand, starting a slow pump at the base, sliding up to the tip. Hades purred, arching his back, twisting his fist in Lucifer's hair. Lucifer nipped at him and Hades hissed.

"Stop pulling my hair," Lucifer breathed against Hades's skin, lapping up the blood.

"Stop driving me insane," Hades growled back. Lucifer laughed against his lover's skin, carefully tending the wound that eventually became nothing more than a bruise. He rose to meet Hades's face, met those gorgeous blue eyes that saw everything, and hide everything. At least, most of the time. But not now, Lucifer noted with tenderness. Now, he saw Hades's desire, saw his hunger, saw his love. It made his heart burst at the seams.

"I love you," Lucifer murmured before he kissed Hades once on the lips. Once wasn't enough, so he went for another and another. Just quick desperate kisses one after another, making Hades moan. If anything, the rapid pecks on his lips were driving him more insane than the kisses with tongue. So Lucifer kept it up as he positioned himself, lathering himself up with a tube of lubrication he kept in his desk. He dribbled it between Hades's legs, kissing him repeatedly before he slid himself inside.

Hades bit in his lip, hissed, and arched up, as if desperate to swallow his angel even deeper. Lucifer moaned, taking mercy on his god, drawing his hips back before slamming home again. Hades gasped, then groaned as Lucifer started up a steady pace. Skin smacked skin, lips met lips, moans answered cries for more. In no time, Hades felt his balls tighten, felt his cock kick as he spilled all over his brand new fucking shirt. He felt himself tighten around Lucifer, felt the angel shudder as he came.

They panted for breath, eyes meeting.

"Don't ever walk away from me like that again," Hades growled. Lucifer smiled lovingly, reaching up to tuck a lock of Hades's sweaty black hair behind his ear.

"Don't ever let me walk away from you like that again," he returned. Hades rolled his eyes as Lucifer stepped back, reaching for a tissue, but Hades waved it away.

"I need to shower anyway," he answered, "But you owe me a new shirt, asshole."

"Of course."

"And you're the one making all the arrangements for this holiday, got it?"

"Absolutely."

"And don't come in the shower with me. My ass hurts."

"I can't promise anything."

"Prick."

Lucifer laughed a deep throaty laugh that sent shivers sliding down Hades's spine. Resisting the urge to run back and go for another round, Hades hurried to the bathroom, slamming the door shut and making a point to lock it loudly enough for Lucifer to hear. Not that a locked door could stop his lover. He showered up and departed from the palace in Hell, leaving Lucifer to make his plans while he went off to make some of his own. Like calling his sons to let him know he was going to be out of town.

"Good for you," Abel had said excitedly when he called, "You deserve it! I hope you have fun! We'll be fine!"

"What," Theo had shouted, "So much for being god of the fucking underworld, asshole!"

"Bring me something back," Cerberus demanded.

"Dress warmly," Charon reminded.

"Watch out for wolves," came Cain's cackle.

"Be safe!" Nikias.

"I can't imagine you in the snow. Try not to freeze to death." Ambrosius.

"It was Lucifer's idea, wasn't it?" Malachi.

"How romantic." Zelios.

His sons were definitely a weird bunch. None of them seemed entirely distraught that he was leaving, save for Theo, though most of them, including Theo, seemed happy for him. He wasn't sure what to do with that information, so he chose to pretend it wasn't as weird as it was. After all, it was normal for other people, right? To be happy for one another?

Nighttime came and went. All the preparations had been made for his absence. All his children were informed and prepared to take on their active duties as princes of the underworld, to tend to their people. Lucifer had called in the middle of the night to tell him not to pack anything, which made his job so much easier. All he had to do was try and fall asleep while his brain concocted an endless stream of things that could go wrong. It came down to a night of restless sleep, a couple of midnight snacks that turned into meals that were half eaten.

Soon enough, Hades found himself standing beside Lucifer as they bid farewell to their children, all of whom had congregated to the palace in Hell to wish them well. Hades grimaced at the crowd before Lucifer teleported them from Hell to a cabin in Alaska.

Hades wasn't sure what he was expecting. When he thought of a cabin, he thought of creepy animal decorations. Antlers all over the walls, bearskin rugs, stuffed rabbits and ducks, maybe even a moose head mounted over a fireplace. The smell of cheap beer and cigarette smoke. Moldy wood panel walls.

There was none of that. It was a beautiful one room log cabin. The walls were sleek white sheetrock, save for a shiplap accent wall. Huge windows framed with burgundy curtains that matched the bedset. Glittering chandeliers with wrought iron accents hung from the rafters. The flooring was polished wood. A thick overstuffed brown sofa with a flat screen television in one corner, and a basic little kitchen with a breakfast bar. Near the bed was a quaint fireplace with a fluffy white faux fur rug.

And it didn't smell like shit. In fact, it smelled like wood smoke from the fire, of clean linen, and something crisp and piney.

"Are we really in the mortal realm?" Hades asked after a moment as he scanned the room. Lucifer nodded, walking over to where a suitcase appeared on the bed. He opened it up and took some clothing out, handing it to Hades.

"Get dressed," he said, making Hades cock a brow, "We're going outside." Hades scowled, but Lucifer didn't answer as he took out some clothing of his own. Without further questions, Hades decided to humor his angel. He pulled on the thermal pants and long sleeved top, then layered on a thick sweater before pulling on a sleek black winter jacket, tying a white scarf around his neck before pulling up the black pants.

Lucifer was all bundled up in a thick padded white jacket and matching pants before he turned to smile at Hades, who watched him curiously. Lucifer was acting oddly. Not that he was normal to begin with, but still. He held his hand out to Hades, who eyed him suspiciously before he took his angel's hand.

"What are you up to?" Hades asked.

"You'll see," Lucifer replied, leading him to the door.

"You know, most people go to Maui for a vacation," Hades said dryly, "Or the Bahamas. Fucking France."

"Yes, but you aren't most people."

"Just because my soul is cold as the tundra doesn't mean I'll necessarily like it."

"Can you just shut up and let me do this?" Lucifer asked, stopping at the door. Hades sighed, then shrugged his shoulders. Lucifer smiled, then opened the door to an attached porch. Hades spotted an odd eerie green glow outside, making him scowl. Lucifer stepped aside to let him go out first, and he did.

And suddenly, everything else disappeared.

Outside, the scenery was absolutely gorgeous. Their little cabin was in the middle of nowhere. Nothing, but snow and snow and more snow, in the distance and behind their cabin, thick evergreen forests blanketed in snow. The white glistened and sparkled iridescently from some lights overhead. Lights that Hades knew so well, yet had never seen. And he was frozen, standing on the porch, before somehow, his legs got a mind of their own and carried him out into the untouched snow that came up to his knees. It whispered and crackled as he waded through it, his head lifting to the heavens.

The sky was a blanket of velvet darkness littered with thick mists of silver stars. And lighting up the sky like a holy stream of beauty were the Northern Lights. Beautiful ribbons of brilliant colors; green, pink, blue. They danced and swayed to music only they could hear, spreading out to and fro, with no real purpose. There was a profound freedom to the ways they bend and swirled, the way they glimmered and shined.

Hades couldn't feel the burn of the cold on his cheeks or his pinkened nose. He didn't even hear the snow crunch as Lucifer made his way down the porch. All he could see were the lights that had fascinated and mesmerized him for centuries. And this time, it wasn't an illusion or a memory plucked from the mind of a female. This time, the lights were real, tangible, proud and bright. The image was so raw, so mind-boggling.

Hades turned in a slow circle, head still bent back as he stared up at the lights that gleamed overhead, waving at him as if to greet him, as if they'd been waiting for him. Hades lost his footing, didn't care as he fell back in the snow, ignored the rush of cold that sank in around him as he landed. He just wanted to stare up at the sky for hours. The cold meant nothing to him.

He vaguely heard something fall in the snow next to him. Felt a hand curl around his.

He blinked and turned his head in the snow, looking over the small glittering space between them, to see Lucifer looking at him, smiling with a joy so pure that it actually made Hades's chest tighten. And gods, Hades noted, gods, was his angel beautiful.

The thick waves of golden hair that fell around his face, his stern nose, but his soft sapphire eyes, eyes that matched the blue that hovered just over their heads. In fact, the lights overhead seemed to accentuate his angelic beauty. He seemed to literally glow, eyes sparkling, pink lips glistening.

Hades didn't know what to say. For once, words escaped him. Nothing seemed adequate enough to express the foreign sensations he had. He had no idea how to describe the tightness in his chest, the lump in his throat, feeling like he was soaring in the sky with the lights overhead. He had never before in his life felt this.

"I love you, Hades," Lucifer murmured in the stillness, the cold silence around them, "Sometimes, I feel that perhaps you don't believe me, and I'm not angry with you for it. I understand. I believe your saying is, words are worthless. Actions are priceless. So, if you can't take my word for it, then I can only hope that taking you to the most beautiful place in the world will be enough to show you how I feel. That I love you more than anything. My heart has been broken for so long, and so many times. Sometimes I wondered why I even tried. But tonight, here, watching you, I realize that this is why I tried. You are the love of my life."

Hades felt like someone had stripped him naked. He felt cold and exposed, felt like the lights overhead were more like spotlights shining down on him, felt like his audience of one was watching and waiting for him to say something. But what could he say? What words fit here? Suddenly, love didn't seem like enough. It was only four letters. It was lackluster for the sensations racing through his body, piercing his soul.

Something warm pooled into his vision, blurred his image of the angel gazing at him. He felt a stream of warmth travel down his cheek, melting the snow that had touched there.

And Lucifer knew. Lucifer knew the moment he saw that show of vulnerability. Knew the moment that tear slid down that face, filled those eyes so blue, they outshined the lights above them. Hades didn't need words to reply to him, because his face, his eyes, they said enough. And Lucifer felt like he could weep himself.

He rolled over in the snow, sat up on his knees. He pulled Hades up out of the snow. They sat on their knees, facing each other before Hades put his arms around Lucifer's neck and held him close. Lucifer cradled Hades to him, buried his face in that inky black hair that contrasted so sharply with the crystal white snow around them, that smelled of ash. They pulled back, and Lucifer yanked his gloves off so he could cup Hades's face in his. Hades studied his face, studied the eyes of the person he woke to every morning and fell asleep to every night. The face of the person who smiled whenever he entered the room, lit up like the sunshine whenever his name was mentioned.

Hades cupped his face, Lucifer's stubble prickling and tickling his fingers, so incredibly warm in comparison to the frigid air around them. He leaned in and captured Lucifer's lips. The kiss was gentle, sweet, but at the same time, so deep, so intense, so real. He wrapped his arms around Lucifer, held him tight as he kissed him, kissed him until Lucifer fell back in the snow and Hades was on top of him, and Lucifer let him stay there as Hades kissed him senseless.

They broke apart when oxygen became necessary, their gasps producing clouds that swirled together and rose toward the lights.

"I need to feel you," Hades breathed. Lucifer couldn't agree more.

One second, they were laying in the ice cold snow outside, bathed in the lights overhead, and in the next they were on the big fluffy bed inside the cabin. Hades tore his clothes off feverishly as Lucifer did the same, their gasps desperate and their movements jerky with hunger.

"Fuck these layers," Hades growled as he gave up trying to pull his pants off and just tore them in half, casting them aside so they landed on the coffee table. Lucifer laughed in agreement, turning to face Hades, who grabbed hold of the front of his shirt and ripped it into two pieces so it fell away to reveal Lucifer's bare chest.

They fell on the bed together, Hades on his back and Lucifer on top of him, their lips connected with a hungry desperation borne of soul-deep passion. Hades moaned, writhed, grabbing at Lucifer, yanking him closer, as if skin to skin was simply not enough. Lucifer raked his fingers through that thick soft black hair, licked at salty sweet skin, ground his hips down against Hades's. He reached out with a trembling finger to touch something on the headboard.

Overhead, the ceiling seemed to rattle, temporarily drawing Hades's attention so he was looking over Lucifer's shoulder, watching the darkness overhead slide open to reveal the lights. Hades's eyes watered at the sight and he sank his fingernails down into Lucifer's back, wrapping his legs around the angel's waist.

"I know," Lucifer whispered to Hades's silent plea. He kissed the side of Hades's head before he took Hades's hips in his hands and drove himself home. Hades cried out, his head falling back against the pillow, his eyes gazing up at the lights overhead as Lucifer began to roll his hips against him. The sound of skin against skin, moans, gasps, the bed creaking softly, spiraled together in a symphony of ecstasy.

Hades stared up as Lucifer propped himself up on top of him. He snapped a mental picture. Lucifer all sweaty and hot, his fangs bared as he panting hard, his golden locks hanging down over his shoulders, his head framed by the swirling ribbons of pale blue, green, and pink above his head. Hades kept watching as he came, his body shuddering and trembling as his lips parted in a cry.

Lucifer felt a chill rush up his spine as he watched Hades come, watched his lover's face become one of agonized pleasure, his electric blue eyes glowing in the darkness of their cabin. He felt his body tighten, felt the coil of desire break free inside him as he released, as he clutched Hades to him, nuzzling his face into the crook of Hades's neck.

They were nowhere near done.

He wasn't letting Hades escape him.

And Hades had no plans to do so either.

He let Lucifer flip him over, let the angel grab him close, let him piston his hips and bite into his throat. And even more enthralling... He let himself cry. He let himself gasp and moan, shout as his body coiled tight and burst into pieces. He let himself go completely, and so did Lucifer.

Overhead, the colorful lights danced and crackled with power, flickering and flashing through the night. The snow sparkled and gleamed. The stars twinkled and the moon continued its bath through the sky as a full globe of silver. The velvet blackness passed and the stars fizzled out, overcome by the orange spill of daylight. The aurora borealis glimmered softly, fading into the sunrise. The snow became a field of orange glitter as the sun rose up over the treetops in the distance, spilling in through the window in the roof of a lone cabin in the woods.

Hades was breathless, even after they were done. He stared up at the peachy sky overhead, at the rays of sunlight streaming in and pouring onto the bed. He lay there on his back, the thick blankets yanked up high as the cold seemed to finally seep into his bones. He rolled over slowly, his body a cacophony of pleasant aches.

Laying beside him, Lucifer was smiling lazily, clearly exhausted, but refusing to drift into sleep until he was sure Hades had been sated. He reached up to sweep that black hair from Hades's face. Hades captured his hand, laid it against his cheek. Lucifer smiled, his eyes beckoning, and for once, Hades obeyed without comment. He inched across the bed until they were chest to chest. Lucifer kissed him on the forehead, then the nose, then those precious swollen lips.

"Alaska's not so bad," Lucifer murmured. Hades stared at him.

"Yeah... Kinda nice."

"Maybe we can come back."

"Sounds good," Hades responded quietly. Lucifer kissed him once more and he kissed back. His angel gave a yawn, and Hades drew closer, wrapping his arms around Lucifer, pressing his face against the angel's neck, inhaling the sweet scent of him. Lucifer buried his nose in Hades's hair, tightening his hold on him.

"I love you, Hades," Lucifer murmured sleepily.

"I know," Hades replied as he drifted to sleep.

This time, he really did know.

He really truly did.

No question about it now.

This angel was his. All his. Forever his.

A/N: nurnurnurnur. Told you I'd do something about that suspicious Alaskan trip mentioned in the last one shot. I had a lot of fun writing this one and was inspired by the images by xiaoyugaara. A lot of people talk about how they want Hades to say "I love you", but don't seem to understand Hades's easy dismissal of words. It sounds surprising coming from someone who uses words to express themselves, but sometimes words just aren't enough. Sometimes, we feel things that words simply are not strong enough to express. Sometimes love can only be seen through actions. And Hades needed that. He needed this. And Lucifer knew that. Isn't it cool when you're so in-tune with someone? Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this! <3 Happy holidays, y'all!
