Chapter 8 ► Two Faced
Luke's POV
I_AM_WILDCAT
"Hey have fun on your date! so where you and the lucky lady heading?"
"Thanks man. her name's (Y/N) and I feel like I'm the lucky one here, she's so beautiful"
"also I was thinking about that Olive Garden in Downtown"
"I bet you are the lucky one."
"Ok bro I'll let you go. Have fun at Olive Garden"
"Would be ashamed if something bad happened"
I guess Tyler's not the only one that moved to L.A. Maybe I should pay an old friend a visit. After all, it's rude to not let someone know you're in town.
Third Person POV
"Freeze!" One cop says as him and his group aim their weapons at Luke. He made no hesitation to shoot aimlessly at them before running off, with his identity still unknown to everyone. Everyone but (Y/N).
As Tyler just stood there in rage watching the chaos happen before him, a cop interrupted his angry thoughts to ask him some questions. He had a difficult time answering. It felt like it happened so fast to him. He just couldn't get that image of (Y/N) being shot out of his head.
After the officer finished questioning him, Tyler went back to the paramedics seeing the unconscious body of his friend, his love interest. "Is she alright?" Tyler stopped the paramedic who was putting her on a stretcher.
"She'll be fine. But we really need to bring her in for surgery, sir." The paramedic replied, pushing her out and into the ambulance.
Tyler could only watch this all happen. It made him feel useless.
As for Jon, he stood from a distance watching the chaos. He saw the body being pushed into the back of the ambulance and hoped it wasn't who he thought it was. Soon, he sees Tyler walk out of the restaurant, head hung low, but not with (Y/N), that's when his heart dropped. Poor Jon, this wasn't how he imagined seeing his best friend after so long.
As soon as he let a tear escape, he heard Tyler's Corvette roar and started to back out of the parking lot. Jon had no car, he couldn't just ask Tyler for a ride, especially how he doesn't know who he was in person. He had to hail another cab down.
Upon arriving, Jon sat a couple seats away from Tyler, silently wishing he could comfort his friend. Soon, a couple more familiar faces came in the seats between Tyler and Jon. Craig sitting closer to Tyler, Evan sitting next to Jon. Jon was happy they came in, he just wished he could've joined in on their conversation.
Jon was a bit jealous of the cute moment the boys were having bonding and worrying over his own best friend. He knows (Y/N) won't see his messages until later, at least he hoped, but he took a quick picture of them and sent it to her with a message: "Did they make it clear yet? They love you, as much as I do."
Soon, a nurse comes out the door and eyes Tyler. He stands up rushes to her, preparing for the worst. "How is she?"
"The surgery was a success," The nurse started. Tyler exhaled from excitement. "But she did lose a good amount of blood on the way here, so she may not wake up until tomorrow."
Tyler's smile immediately vanishes. "Can my friends and I see her now?"
"Sure right this way!"
How Jon wished he could join them. He wanted to be the first person (Y/N) sees when she wakes up. He even started to gamble revealing his own identity to his friends right now. Jon wanted to do anything just to be next to (Y/N).
"Delirious?" A familiar voice called him, it was Luke. He was dressed in different clothes, like nothing happened.
"Shh!" He quieted Luke. "It's Jonathan in person, NOT Delirious."
"Alright Jonathan." Luke mocked. "What are you doing here? I thought you were back at North Carolina?"
"I thought you were at San Francisco, not L.A.?" Jon countered. He wasn't sure if he should tell Luke about (Y/N).
Though it clearly it wouldn't have been news to him anyway.
"Craig and Evan texted me about Tyler's date. Thought I'd stop by to give my support." Luke said with a smug look. "And you?"
"S-same!" Jon answered hesitantly.
Luke saw right through his lie. "You flew all the way out here within an hour to see Tyler?" He laughed.
Thankfully, Craig back came out before Jon was questioned any further. He wouldn't have known how to answer that last question. "Hey Luke!" Craig greeted and looked at Jon whose jaw hung low not knowing whether to speak or not.
"Uh- Craig this is Jonny!" Luke saved him. Jon just smiled and waved at Craig. "Do you mind if he comes in with us?"
"I don't see why not?"
The brit guided the two males in where they saw Tyler holding (Y/N)'s left hand and Evan holding the other. Jon could feel his heart shatter seeing how fragile and pale she looked. "Hey Cartoonz," Craig nudged Luke. "Do you mind staying in here just incase someone else comes in? Evan and I trying to give Tyler a break from crying. We hate seeing the poor dude like this."
"Where you guy's heading?"
"Cafeteria, shouldn't be too long."
After agreeing, Evan and Craig try to pry their sulking friend off (Y/N). It wasn't easy, but they eventually left the room with a very uneasy tension in the air.
Luke takes the seat Tyler was on while Jon takes the seat where Evan was. Jon was having a hard time trying not to break down in front of his friend. He was hoping this was just some sort of sick nightmare.
"Jonathan?" Luke interrupted his thoughts once more. "You ok dude?"
Jon shrugs off his sadness and replies "Yea, it's just weird. Being in someone's hospital room that you don't even know."
What a stupid lie that was.
Luke chuckled as his best friend lies to his face. "If you feel uncomfortable, you can wait outside. I'll watch her."
"No!" Jon shouted louder than he expected. "I-I mean, I don't mind.. really."
"Don't worry, I'm fine watching her by myself." Luke replied perkily.
"I thought you didn't know her either?"
Luke almost felt his confidence falter. That was until Evan came back after forgetting his phone on the table. "Sorry umm," Evan felt slightly awkward seeing this 'stranger.' "I didn't get your name, what was it?"
"Jonny.." Jon replied lowly, but enough for Evan to hear.
"Jonny!" Could you pass me my phone? It's right next to you."
Jon did as told, still trying to keep his composure. "Thanks. Hey Luke!" Evan said diverting his gaze to his bearded friend. "Do you wanna tag along? Tyler's kinda getting pissy, so we need an extra set of hands."
Luke refused to let this opportunity with his ex slide. He stuttered nervously, not knowing how to reply.
"Go on!" Jon replied in a slightly deeper tone. Evan wasn't too focused on Jon's voice. He did however hear a little familiarity in it. "I can watch her. Go spend time with your friends."
"I like your friend." Evan chuckled, tugging Luke out of his seat. Luke knew exactly what he was doing, he didn't like it one bit.
When the two males leave, Jon takes the seat where Luke and Tyler originally were.
He held (Y/N)'s cold hand, staring at her unconscious body. "Hey (N/N) bear." Jon cooed rubbing her knuckles with his thumb. "I missed you." That's when Jon started to let all his tears flow. He couldn't stand not hearing a reply from her. Before continuing, the blue eyed male planted a kiss on her cheek. "Don't you leave me again. I won't let it happen. Please hang in there.. wake up, wake up for me, for us, your friends."
A vibrating noise interrupted Jon's words. It was her phone left by Tyler on the table. He flipped it over and saw messages from David, who was contacting her about their supposed plans tonight. Jon just sighed reading how clueless he was to the situation. He pictured Nogla sitting at his computer waiting, like a lost puppy waiting for his owner to return home.
Jon had no other words left that could describe his depressing mood. His tears and soft sobs made it clear already. Jon took ahold of her cold arm, holding it like his teddy bear (Y/N) sent him a year before she stopped talking to the guys. Jon eventually cried himself to sleep as he held her.
After about an hour, the four males come back to the room. Tyler was not happy seeing this 'stranger' hold his lover. "Hey!" He shouted, making Jon jolt up. "What the fuck do you think you're doing?!"
Jon looked over at Luke for help, who really had no interest at all helping him now. He was just another problem between him and his goal to be with (Y/N) again. "Well?!" Tyler continued, this time pushing Jon's smaller frame.
"Tyler relax! There's no need to get violent!" Craig said holding his taller friend's hands back. As for Evan, he stood between the two incase Tyler broke free.
"He was holding her like some creepy bastard! You're really gonna take his side?!"
"You don't even know him dude!" Evan retorted.
"I don't give a shit, that's not gonna stop my fists from pounding his face in!"
The friends started to bicker back and forth, except for Jon who was watching Evan do the talking for him. Jon would be lying if he claimed he didn't want to yell back at his arrogant friend.
A low groan of pain emitted from (Y/N) who soon woke up to the chaos. Her tired (E/C) eyes landed on the person she was probably happiest to see out of the rest, Jon. She flashed a smile that caught the attention of everyone in the room. "(Y/N)!" Tyler got to her first, hugging her tightly. She hugged him back and giggled as her eyes wandered back up to Jon. 'Hi Jon.' She mouthed to him. Jon had the widest grin on his face as he saw that, he could've teared up again right then and there.
Tyler heard the faint whisper that came from her. "Jon?" He questioned and moved back from the hug.
"Are you talking about Jonny?" Evan added, pointing to the smaller blue eyed male.
"You know him?" Craig added.
(Y/N) started stuttering, not knowing how to reply.
Do they not know who he is yet?
"Uh-umm.. sorry. Guess the drugs are still in my body!" (Y/N) giggled nervously. "C-could you pass me my phone?" She said quickly changing the subject.
Tyler then turned around to grab her phone that wasn't there. "Huh?" He felt the nothingness and his mind immediately thought the worse. "Hey creepy fuck, did you steal her phone too?"
Jon's eyes widened trying to think of a reply. "Why do you keep blaming this fucker?! Maybe you left it in the cafeteria." Evan answered for him.
"No, I only took MY phone when we left. I KNOW I left hers here."
Craig just wanted the bickering to stop, as well as (Y/N) who looked at Jon's puppy dog like blue eyes. The brit looked around and felt the room was a bit bigger than before. "Wait guys!" Craig shouted as the argument came to a halt. "Where's Luke?"
