CHAPTER SEVEN: NOT EDITED

Reality.

It could go up or it could fall back down and break into multiple pieces. That's what I configured when I saw the police transport van upside down under the overpass. The streets lined with colors; blue and red as the police cars were parked against the sidewalk with the officers talking to each other. I was standing next to Malia with my arm around her in attempt to comfort the shaking werecoyote.

"Malia?" I asked, looking down at her, "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine Carter," Malia looked up at me with a smile on her face.

I gave her a smile in return when I noticed that Stiles and Scott soon arrived to the scene with unreadable expressions on their faces. It came to my attention that the pair always would show up to scenes that involved Stiles's father- who I just found out was the Sheriff since Theo didn't inform me beforehand. Stiles approached us and was about to say something when his father cut him off.

"Boys," Sheriff Stilinski called out, then noticed that the werecoyote was standing there, "And Malia."

"Dad, what happened?"

"Scott, you saw this kid, Donovan. He wasn't like you, right?" He said, cutting off his son.

Scott shook his head, "I don't think so."

"Unless he knows how to hide his scent," I commented, catching their attention.

"Who are you?" Sheriff Stilinski furrowed his eyebrows, "I haven't seen you around before and I know that my son hasn't mentioned you."

"Uh, um, I'm Carter," I said, scratching my back in awkwardness.

"Well, human or otherwise, this kid might have just murdered his lawyer and mortally wounded two officers," Sheriff changed the subject of the conversation that mattered the most at this moment, "We've got an APB on out on him, but you think you can find him faster Scott?"

"I can try."

I watched Sheriff Stilinski handed his walkie talkie over to the true alpha before explaining on what the boy should do. I looked down at Malia and I saw her closing her eyes in tiredness- making me almost coo at the sight. "Malia, do you want me to take you home?"

"I-I'm fine," she yawned, "And besides, I want to make sure you're safe at all times, especially since this psycho kid is on the run."

Before I could respond, a voice over the walkie talkie caught my attention. Whipping my head to the Sheriff, I heard Scott's voice over the speaker. I prayed that his kid wouldn't harm anyone else at our hand. We don't need anymore random deaths in Beacon Hills, especially if it involves the supernatural in this town.

"Scott, is that you?" Sheriff Stilinski said into the device.

Scott's voice broke through the silence, "Yeah, I found Donovan. He's completely freaked out, he keeps saying some name."

"Who, Theo?" Stiles asked, making me shoot him a glare.

"What name?" I asked, stepping closer to the device in the Sheriff's hands.

"Tracy, he keeps saying Tracy."

"Tracy who?" I furrowed my eyebrows when the Sheriff asked Scott.

Lydia's voice spoke from behind, making us turn to look at her when she said Tracy's full name, "Tracy Stewart."

--

Around eight in the morning I found myself in the school's parking lot with Scott McCall's pack and some kid named Mason. We're currently surrounding someone's car and currently conversing about what to do with Tracy Stewart at this time. Honestly, I wouldn't blame Scott if he decided to take the girl's life, especially since she already killed someone and wounded another.

"Tracy wasn't just having trouble sleeping," Lydia explained to the group, "It was a real disorder, it was night terrors."

"Well, now she's the night terror," Stiles stated sarcastically, "Especially since no one can find her."

"Okay, I know we're all tired and miserable," Scott sighed, before looking at a excited Mason, "Except for you."

Mason looked at everyone with an excited facial expression, "Oh, I'm sorry. This is all just mind blowing."

"Wait until you really get into it," I told him sarcastically which left the boy unfazed when he looked over at Kira.

"You're a Kitsune," Mason said excitedly, "I don't even know what that is."

"I'm still learning," Kira smiled awkwardly.

"And you're Theo Raeken's brother," Mason turned to look at me, "That must be scary as hell."

I was about to retort with something sarcastic but then I noticed that Malia was glaring at the boy harshly. A grin danced on my lips when Mason glanced over at the brunette to see her facial expression, alarming him altogether. It felt good to have the werecoyote on my side and that she's here for me no matter what, the same way I am for her.

"Liam, we said you could tell him, not bring him to the inner circle," Stiles scolded Liam.

"Uh, I'm in the inner circle?" Mason asked in awe, only for Liam, Stiles, and I to shout something in return.

"No!"

Scott shook his head at our behavior, "Guys, look, back to Tracy. She's just one lone wolf, we can find her."

"One lone serial-killing wolf," Lydia said, placing her lips into a thin line.

"Uh, she only killed one person, you know," Stiles pointed out, "The other two were mauled."

"All right, what do we do when we catch her?" I asked Scott.

"I say we put her down," Malia said bluntly.

Mason looked at all of us before replying, "Intense."

--

A lot of eventful things happen during the day at school. Tracy was soon spotted in the wrong class resulting in Hayden Romero to get hurt in the process when she grabbed her wrist and wouldn't let go. I just say this is a normal routine at school in Beacon Hills, nothing special. Now I find myself going with Mason and Liam to another school were a werewolf by the name of Brett Talbot goes too. Apparently Liam thinks that Tracy is apart of Brett's pack, but deep inside I know that isn't true.

When we arrived to the school, Mason and I followed Liam to the lacrosse field were a bunch of guys were practicing for their next big game. I glanced over at Mason to see his eyes widen, making a snort of laugher escape from my lips.

"Enjoying the view Mason?" I nudged the boy playfully who pushed me back in return.

"Shut up Carter," Mason whined before looking at Liam, "Is Brett a werewolf too?"

"Yeah," Liam said, narrowing his eyes at the werewolf we were approaching slowly, "Brett!"

Brett turned around, placing his lacrosse stick on the ground he approached us with a confused expression. To Mason's dismay, he put a shirt back on and joined us in our 'circle' before we started asking him questions about Tracy. Liam reached into his pocket and pulled out a phone that would contain Tracy Stewart's photo.

"Cute, but never seen her," Brett said a few minutes after looking at Tracy's photo.

"Could Satomi have turned her without you knowing?" Liam asked him.

Brett sighed, "After the deadpool, Satomi's not exactly doing much recruiting."

Mason looked between Brett and Liam before asking, "That's how it works? Alpha werewolves just go around biting people?"

"Not exactly," I furrowed my eyebrows at his question.

"Or you can be born like me and my sister," Brett pointed out to them.

It was dark by the time we walked off the lacrosse field. I was going to drive Liam and Mason home before I headed back to the Sheriff station to see if Stiles needed anymore help on Tracy's whereabouts still. But before I could do anything, my phone started ringing and I quickly answered it to hear my brother's voice.

"Carter! Malia and Lydia are in trouble!"

My eyes widened, making me slam on the breaks in horror. I stopped in front of Liam's house and quickly dropped the two younger boy's off before I sped to the Sheriff's station in determination to save the girl I had a crush on to the strawberry blonde who accepted me in her life. When I reached inside of the station I was horrified to see Lydia bleeding out on the floor with my brother wrapping his belt around her stomach to stop the blood from pouring out on the floor.

"Where is Malia?!" I yelled at anyone who could hear me.

"S-She went downstairs to stop Tracy from hurting Lydia's mom," Theo shouted, turning around to look at me, "Carter, go save her."

I ran downstairs on full speed, not caring if I got hurt in the process because she is what mattered in the end. When I reached the bottom of the stairs I noticed that there was a body ont the ground and Malia was standing over top of her with wide eyes. Malia saw me coming near her and she was shaking to the bones.

"Carter, it wasn't me," she cried, "I promise, it wasn't me."

"Shh, you're fine," I wrapped her in my arms, "I believe you Malia, I really do."

Pounding footsteps were heard, making Malia and I look up to see Stiles, Deaton, and Sheriff Stilinski running down the stairs. I took Malia's hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze before looking at the three approaching humans with a grimace on my face. Stiles looked at Tracy before resting his eyes on the brunette next to me.

"It wasn't me," Malia told him.

"What the hell happened to her?" Stiles asked, throwing his hands up in the air.

"There were these people, they had masks," Malia explained, "There were three of them, I think there were three."

"What are you talking about?" I asked her, "What do you mean Malia?"

"They were strong Carter," Malia said, "They had a weapon, I didn't do this Carter."

"Malia, I told you I believed you," I reminded her with a smile.

"Okay," Stiles broke our conversation off before looking at Tracy, "She's not changing back."

I looked over to see Tracy half transformed, making my eyes furrow in confusion because she didn't look like a normal werewolf. I remember Theo saying there was this type of supernatural creature that had scales and instantly I knew she was a kanima by the way she looked.

"We're going to need to get her out of here," Deaton advised them.

"What, hey absolutely not," Sheriff Stilinski shook his head, "This is a crime scene. We need to call the coroner."

"I think the coroner might be very confused by this girl's severed reptilian tail," Deaton countered his request.

"I don't care."

"You should," I spoke up, "Unless you're prepared to hold a press conference announcing the presence of supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills."

"Dad, he's right," Stiles nodded, "Maybe at the clinic we can figure out how to change her back, then call the coroner?"

"There's a line, there is a line that we have to draw," Sheriff Stilinski sighed.

"Dad, you've already crossed it," Stiles pointed out, "More than once."

"Sheriff please," I begged, feeling the need to step in, "Let Deaton help."

"Please Sheriff," Deaton asked him, "I've dealt with things like this before."

"Just do it fast."
