CHAPTER SEVENTEEN: NOT EDITED

I walked with Scott and Stiles into the police station with my hands inside of my jean pockets, a frown plastered on my face. Apparently, the missing teenager, Noah was killed by The Dread Doctors after learning that he was a failed experiment. The only good thing that happened was that Sheriff Stilinski was now healed and getting better from the poisoning he received. Now the three of us where standing in front of a computer, watching some footage from the previous night with Stiles's dad and Parrish, another Deputy at the station.

"This is from the relay station's security camera," Parrish explained.

"That looked big," Stiles commented, "And too fast for anyone to get a good look at it."

"But you guys already know what it is, don't you?" Sheriff Stilinski asked us.

"The last chimera," I said, looking at them briefly, "And for future references before you ask me anything about The Dread Doctors, I don't know anything."

"Theo didn't tell you anything?" Scott asked me.

"Nope," I shook my head, "Just because I'm his brother doesn't mean he trusts me."

"Back to this guys," Scott said, getting our attention.

After we talked for a few more minutes, Parrish and Sheriff Stilinski went to the place where the last chimera was spotted, to check things out. That left Stiles, Scott and I in the police station to talk over things that happened over the past few weeks. I wasn't ready to talk about what happened to my first love, but I think it's time for them to know the truth.

"The story Theo told me about the library," Scott spoke up suddenly, "Was it really self defense?"

Stiles was quiet, he didn't want to speak, making Scott speak again, "Stiles, I can't protect you if I don't know the truth. Did you really feel like you couldn't tell me?"

"I could understand if he didn't want too," I commented, "I know I couldn't when Harley died."

"Harley?" Stiles furrowed his eyebrows, "Was that your first love? The one that died in your arms?"

"Yeah," I said, blinking back some tears, "It was a Friday night, around midnight when it happened. You know the saying that nothing good happens after midnight? Well, it's true. We got into a huge fight that night and I told her to leave because I thought she cheated on me."

"Carter, you don't have to talk about it if you don't want too," Scott said softly.

"No," I shook my head, "It's time for you to know the truth."

"Like I said, we got into a huge fight and that caused her to leave for the night. We lived together and when she left it broke me," I explained, swallowing hard, "Around one in the morning I realized that she hadn't returned."

"What happened next?" Stiles asked, noticing how I paused.

"I had a tracker in her phone and I followed it and by the time I found her," I said, looking up with tears streaming down my face, "She was bleeding out on in an alleyway, she was shot during a drive by shooting."

"B-But she made it, right?"

"That's what I thought," I cried, "But by the time the paramedics got there, she already passed. Harley died in my arms and I never told her how I was in love with her."

"Is that the reason why you wouldn't make a move on Malia?"

"What?" I looked at Scott in confusion, "What do you mean?"

"Carter, I can tell that you like her," Scott said, cracking a smile, "It was the same way I looked at Allison. You shouldn't be afraid to fall in love."

"Will it be just as painful?" I asked, sniffling.

"Yes, but always remember, you fall in love more than once."

---

After a few hours discussing about the last chimera and watching more footage, we decided to go check for ourselves. While we walked through the tunnels, I noticed that it was darker than usual. After the attack, it was like all of the lights was drained out of the tunnels. I had the flashlight that had black lights on, that made it easy to see things easier.

"What is that?" Stiles asked, making me stop in my tracks to see him looking at something, "Here, give me the light."

"It looks like Latin," Scott said, narrowing his eyes at it, "Stiles hold up the light and please don't shake it."

All of sudden, a figure came out nowhere and smacked Stiles to the ground. I looked up to see Tracy in her kanima form, with her claws out that had liquid coming out of it. Scott shifted into his werewolf form and was about to step in front of me when I shifted by myself. My eyes glowed their red, making Tracy step back a bit before Josh came out of nowhere, swiping his hand towards me. I grabbed his arm, my claws being pierced in his skin when he screamed. When I let his arm go, a burnt mark was left on his bare skin, making me smirk in satisfaction.

"Okay!" Theo's voice was heard, making me flinch at his voice, "Maybe they're not ready to take on an Alpha. Especially one that can smell fear."

I turned around to see Corey pinned by Scott, "He's got fangs"

"What did you do?" Scott asked Theo, shifting back to his human form, "I found some new friends."

"You're only ones," I commented to myself, making Stiles snort in amusement.

"I don't take rejection well," Theo commented bitterly.

"Hey, Theo," Stiles said, still on the ground paralyzed.

"Stiles," Theo said, walking closer to me, "Carter?"

I turned around to look at him with an unreadable expression on my face, "Hello Theo"

"Why didn't you tell me you were alive?" Theo asked me.

"I don't know, maybe because I'm not on speaking terms with you," I stated sarcastically.

"You're going to leave here thinking that you need to worry about me," Theo said, continuing his conversation, "Because that thing... That's what we need to worry about. Your pack and mine. We're gonna go back to school and pretend like we're normal teenagers, but at night, we're going to be fighting for our lives."

"What is it?" Scott asked him.

"It's not a chimera," Theo said.

"But it's just a kid underneath," Scott said, "Someone like us."

"Not anymore."

When Theo left the tunnels with his chimera pack, it left the three of us in them. I helped Scott to get Stiles off the ground before walking back to the main room. We arrived to the main room before we all stopped to look at each other. If we were going to face this new chimera, then we need our pack back, not just Malia but everyone.

"We need help," Scott said after a few minutes of silence, "If Theo's got his own pack now then we need ours. We have to get the others back."

"Others?" Stiles asked him, "You mean Kira who's currently battling a homicidal fox spirit inside of her, Malia who isn't even speaking to either one of us, Lydia who's stuck in Eichen House, and Liam who almost killed you?"

"Also known as our best friends," I said with a small smile.

"Okay, how?"

"One, by one," Scott said, walking to the wall.

"You're not seriously going to make me do it?"

"You're part of the pack, right?" Scott asked, before looking at me, "And so is Carter."

"Okay."

"We need to find Kira," I commented.

"I still hate that tattoo," Stiles said.

"I know," Scott said, chuckling.

"If it means something, I like it," I laughed when Stiles pushed me playfully.

---

A lot of things happened over the past few days. Scott's boss Deaton was kidnapped by the Desert Wolf and now Malia wants to kill her own mother. I was distant from Scott and Stiles for the last few days and I knew that it was good. Kira was just rescued from the Skinwalkers when she went to visit them and now the Argent's are searching for the truth about the last Chimera.

"Carter?" Scott's voice was heard, "Are you in there?"

"Yeah, I am," I called out to him.

When he walked into the room he smiled at me, "What are you doing?"

"Just resting my eyes," I commented, "Catch me up on everything."

"Well, Deaton is back," Scott explained, "Supposedly The Desert Wolf let him go."

"Really?" I questioned, furrowing my eyebrows, "I wonder why. I mean that's good that he got away but I'm wondering if there is more to it."

"I don't know," Scott said, shrugging, "But we're planning on rescuing Lydia tonight if you want to come."

"I'm not sure Scott," I sighed, "I don't have control over my shifting and the full moon is approaching so I'm not sure how much help I would be."

"That's fine," Scott smiled, "I will text you if anything else happens."

And when he left, I closed my eyes, drifting off only to be stirred awake a few hours later when my door slammed open. I looked up to see Scott, Liam, and Stiles standing there with wide eyes, making me get out of my bed. I looked at them and remembered that they were going after Lydia.

"She's fine," Scott said, as if he read my mind, "We saved her, well Stiles saved her."

I looked over at Stiles and smiled, "Thank you for saving my best friend."

"It's no problem, really," Stiles said, cracking a smile.

"Hey, Carter?" Liam said, "Are you still mad at me for killing you?"

"No," I shook my head, "I'm not mad because if I was in the same position I would've done the same thing."

"So do you mean that-"

"Yes, I do, Liam," I said, then laughing when his face paled, "I'm kidding."

"Since we got this over with, we're heading to the school to the track the Beast," Scott explained, "Wanna come?"

"Sure," I said, "I don't feel like doing any homework."

After the long eventful night with following the Beast and almost getting killed because of it. I went with Lydia to confront the Argents about The Maid of Gévaudan. I had received a text that Scott was trying to stop the lacrosse game and Stiles was trying to figure out who the Beast could be. From my knowledge, the teenager would have a ten sized shoe, meaning it could be anyone.

"Are we almost there?" I asked Lydia.

Lydia didn't answer me, making a huff of annoyance leave the back of my throat. I knew that this was going to be a long night, but I didn't know how long in the end. I just wanted the supernatural to be done with already. I haven't been here for five months and it's already making me lose my mind.

What else could go wrong?

---

I know this chapter was kind of rushed and I'm sorry. I wanted this chapter to focus on Carter's explanation of his first love and what happened to her. I didn't know how to fit him in some of the episodes so I skipped some and made it to episode seven and eight, meaning there is only two more chapters left of Other Raeken. I'm sad but I knew this book would end eventually.  Chapter dedicated to -yourstrulyraven

Question: How did you like the chapter? Thoughts on the story about Harley? Predictions on what is going to happen next?
