Chapter 38:

"Does this ship matter more than your friendship?" I asked, my hand on Nishina's shoulder as she continued to bury her face in her lap.

"You won't understand." She grumbled. "This is a shipping war and--" After that, no more words left her mouth, in an instant she was silent.

"Well, maybe I don't understand at all." I sighed. "If it were me, I would choose my friends over a ship anyday, I mean--friends are priceless, you know?"

I laughed half-heartedly. "Plus, you write erotica, yes?"

All of a sudden, she pushed me, her face once again turning red. "S-Shut up! D-Don't tell anyone about it!"

"You guys should really fix your friendship..seeing the two of you guys fight--it's unusual." I sighed probably for the millionth time today, before wiping off imaginary dust away from me and standing up. "I hope you know what you're doing...Nishina."

"...Of course I know what I'm doing..."

After that, I heard nothing, only the sound of my footsteps as I exited that place, Nishina needs time to think..she needs space, although she didn't voice it out, I knew that was exactly what she needed at this very moment.

Unknowingly, I bumped into someone , my eyes were wide and I immediately looked down to the floor. "..I didn't watch where I was going--sorry."

"It's alright, I was looking for you after all."

I looked up and saw that familiar face. "Ah, Kira."

She smiled. "Oh, who else would it be? Erm, could you come with me for a moment?"

"Eh? Why?" I asked, confused with this sudden invitation.

"I just want to have a little snack with you, aren't you hungry?"

Now that she mentioned it...I did feel a little hungry. It was strange hiw I had suddenly felt this, when I didn't feel the least bit hungry just a while ago. "Um, I guess I am hungry...just a bit."

"It's my treat, so come?" She outstretched her hand, waiting for me to take it. I hesitated, something just seems wrong... "Well?" She pushed.

I took her hand, still feeling that weird feeling in my gut that was trying to tell me something, but I shook it off. "Yeah sure, why not?"

She and Izumo saved me, what's there to be hesitant of? It's just a snack, no harm done.

As she dragged me, heading outside of the school grounds, as I passed I met eye contact with Nanashima who was also just passing by. "Where are you going, Ayano?"

I looked at Kira telling her to stop then I looked back at Nana. "We're just---"

"None of your business." Kira spat out, coldly. And then continued to drag me.

"H-Hey, he was just aski--"

"This is just our little secret, Ayano, isn't that what friends do? Keep little secrets?"

"But what's so secret about having a snack?" I asked.

"It's a girls day together, no boy should know."

I pursed my lips. I looked back at Nana to see that he was going to run after us, but one of his classmates called him--after that he went the other way, perhaps he decided not to do it after all.

Just when we were about to enter the car, I saw Kae-chan from the corner of my eye. "Serinuma-san!" I called out as I waved my hand in her direction, trying to get her attention.

Suddenly I was pulled into the car.
"I thought that I told you that this was our little secret."

Kira is weird today.

"But Serinuma-san is a girl.."

"No one should know of this.." Kira mumbled. "Or else it might not work at all."

"What might not work?" I asked, confused.

She winked at me.
"It's ny little secret."
