Chapter 10
Waking up the next morning, Norman yawned sleepily. Looking around, he at first didn't recall where he was. All he knew was that he was in a dark place where the floor was covered in animal bones. Lots of them. Then he remembered. He was lost again. And he had spent the night in a shed he found on the rooftop, alone with Tiberius. Speaking of the hawk, Norman glanced over at him.
Snoring softly, Tiberius was fast asleep, curled up into a tight ball. Figuring that he should head out and find his way back home, Norman was about to exit the shed when he heard a faint whimpering noise behind him. Confused, the young guinea pig stopped in his tracks and slowly turned around. He was shocked that the whimpers, which were growing louder in volume, were coming from Tiberius. The old hawk was also shaking and muttering something in his sleep.
"Tiberius?" Norman asked in a hushed voice, tilting his head to the side. He was confused by what was going on. The little rodent didn't know whether the old red tailed hawk was having a seizure, having a nightmare or crying about something. Boldly crawling over the bones towards the hawk, Norman placed his tiny paw on Tiberius's forehead just as he jolted awake with a shriek.
"It's okay, it's just me!" Norman squeaked, backing up a little. Stumbling to his feet, Tiberius whipped his head around frantically. Realizing that he was still in his shed, he sighed in relief. Then he noticed that his hood and chain were off. Plus, there was a certain little guinea pig in his shed. Growling, the red tail hissed angrily, "Don't you have better things to do?! Get out!"
"Okay!" Norman replied, dashing out of the shed without any hesitation.
