A few days had passed, and finally the rain let up enough to go out. Yvette ran through the forest to get home, anxious to see her family, and to give them her news. Diesel followed her, hoping to meet her family as well.

Finally, they arrived at the Namara family den, and Yvette sighed with relief to see that it had not collapsed from the flooding.

Yvette - You wait here, okay?

Diesel - Of course.

Yvette slipped happily into the tunnel, scampering through until she found her father and oldest younger brother Miguel, who hadn't yet evolved, repairing some tunnel lining.

Yvette - Father?!

Father - Yvette... Yvette, you're alive!

He wept with joy and hugged her, overjoyed that his eldest child was back again.

Father - Come, come, everyone will want to see you...

So, they all went further in, to the common area, a hollow deep into the ground. Her twelve younger siblings crowded her, and her mother held her tightly.

Mother - Oh, Yvette, we all worried so! We thought you had been snatched up by a vicious beast! Oh, thank goodness that's not true!

Yvette - Y-yes... I had help... An Umbreon let me stay with him...

Father - A-an Umbreon?

Mother - H-he didn't follow you here, did he?

Yvette - Yes, he's outside...

Mother - Oh dear oh dear... We'll have to burrow away...

Yvette - But... He means no harm!

Father - You can't know that!

Yvette - I do! Because I love him!

Father - Eh?!

Yvette - And he loves me...

Mother - You can't trust that...

Yvette - Please, mother, father... I want you to meet him...

Father - ...Well, if he did save your life...

And so, they went outside, Yvette, then Father, then Mother. Yvette stood beside Diesel, hoping to endear him to them. The parents huddled at a distance, trembling fearfully. Diesel, somewhat embarrassed, made himself as small as possible, making sure to keep his mouth shut, so they weren't further intimidated by his fangs, and keeping his claws sheathed.

Yvette - Mother, Father... This is Diesel... He saved me...

Mother - W-well... Th-thank you, Diesel.

Father - Yes, thank you, Diesel, now, Yvette, come back inside...

Yvette - Father... I'm going to stay with him... for life...

Father - But... What about your family?!

Yvette - I'll visit, I promise!

Father - It could be dangerous!

Yvette - Diesel... Diesel makes me feel safe...

Mother - P-please... Please, just come with us...

Yvette went to them and hugged them.

Yvette - I'm sorry... but I love him... I promise I will come back sometime...

Mother - Please, Yvette...

Yvette - I love you...

And with that, Yvette and Diesel left for the cave. Mother finally broke down and cried on her husband's shoulder.

Mother - We'll never see her again... He'll kill her...

Father - W-we mustn't think that way... We have to have hope... that she'll come around before he turns on her...
