nebula grew up with just her mother , the classy single mother who sadly was not in the best state of mind and got around much. nebulas mother , passionate , was trying her best to be a good mother to her, but the pain of loosing nebulas father was too much and so she fell into a hole of depression. however, she did not neglect nebula, which is why there is no hatred between the two. when nebula was 4 years old , her mother laid another egg with a sand--wing. her little brother dunestar was born. when passionate was not able to take care of him, nebula did, she even gave him his name. while growing up herself and raising dune she learned how to fight, to protect her family and herself. the need to protect her family grew even more when icestar came into their life. nebula almost snapped, but that was when passionate promised her that she won't ever abandon her again or her siblings.

the family of four went good for a long way, but when nebuala turned 12 it all went down. the tribes were fed up with hybrids and started to attack those living within their ranks or inside their kingdom. nebula and dunestar went to war and defended their family with all they had -- and nebula lost a limb. she was fiercely fighting of a few dragons that were trying to break into passionates and icestars hiding place. nebulas hind leg was ripped of and she fell towards the ground, a bloody streak following her. dunestars scream alerted passionate , who rushed out to try and save nebula. however, she was stopped by the dragons that had dunestar now in a chokehold. passionate immediately roared forwards and clashed into them, freeing her son who she told to save nebula.

passionate fought for not only her, but also her children lives and in this fight, she lost. after killing two of the three dragons she too fell to the ground, dead before she hit the ground. the last thing she saw was icestar. the little, four year old dragonet had escaped and witnessed her mothers death. nebula was barely conscious when she felt her little sisters cold body pressing against her, sobbing into her chest, she didn't really know what was going on and barely even felt dunestar dragging her away.

nebula woke up when she felt a dragon huddling around on her amputated leg. a purplish dragon was hovering over her and introduced herself as glowing scales, another hybrid. she accepted the three into her cave until nebula was able to move around on her.

they moved into another cave, hiding there for as long as they could. jellyfish, glowing scales apprentice, came to visit them every now and then and helped the older siblings in teaching icestar how to fight and jellyfish helped nebula come around with her leg.

after two years they came back to glowingscales, asking her to resurrect their mother.
