The Maiden
Bio:
• Full Name: N/A
• Species: Human
• Gender: Female
• Age: 16
• Occupation: None
• Associations: Faustian Contract (unknowingly); Family-Owned Tailor Business
Physical Appearance:
The Maiden is a young, doe-faced girl with stunning red hair - resembling copper, and shining just as brightly. It falls in thick waves down her back, emphasising its beauty. Her eyes are a faint summery green; they're exceptionally vivid, almost appearing to sparkle in the light. She has a fair skin complexion, slightly tanned by her time working outside with her father, and dotted with freckles. She is lithe and lightweight, with budding curves and seemingly flawless skin. Her facial features are soft and petite, with rosy red cheeks and plump pink lips.
An ideal real-life interpretation of The Maiden would be Rachel Hurd-Wood
Backstory:
The Maiden is from a small family who live a humble life in a small village. Entrusting her with a package, her father asks her to make her way to the neighbouring village and deliver the package to the customer. Having a terrible sense of direction and becoming distracted by the beauty of the forest, the girl becomes lost. By the time she meets the Stranger, it is nighttime and she is on the near edge of hysterics, fearing for the worst. Willing to trust anyone who could lead her out of the woods, she follows the Stranger, not knowing he is leading her to her death.
Relationships:
• The Stranger/The Demon finds her remarkably beautiful for a human, and comments on this more than once. The flavour of her soul, and her scent, is something that attracts him greatly. Her soul is fresh, young and innocent, and the demon takes great pleasure in breaking her before devouring it.
Inspirations:
• Little Red Riding Hood - To be completely honest, the Maiden may as well be Little Red Riding Hood; their stories are so similar! The story of Little Red also prompted me to include the small cameo of the infamous red cloak, and also to insert some mention of wolves.
• Elizabeth Midford (Kuroshitsuji) - The naively innocent side of Elizabeth definitely played a large factor in helping me script The Maiden's dialogue. I wanted her to sound young; trusting, and guileless, which (for the most past) is precisely what our loveable blonde conveys through her words also.
Themes:
Wolf Song • Omnia
"Playing the obedient daughter
Brought you where the wolf bane blooms
Sacrificed in sacred slaughter
'Neath the pale light of the moon"
Winter on the Weekend • Julia Stone
"He's a dog, but he's dressed up like a sheep
He's got bones all through the backyard
But he likes to fool me"
Angels • Within Temptation
"Sparkling angel, I believed
You were my saviour in my time of need
Blinded by faith, I couldn't hear
All the whispers, the warnings so clear
[...]
Fallen angel, tell me why
What is the reason?
The thorn in your eye"
Ghost of a Rose • Blackmore's Night
"Her eyes believed in mysteries
She would lay amongst the leaves of amber
Her spirit wild, heart of a child
Yet gentle, still, and quiet, and mild"
