Not Part of the Plan

Fabian was unsure what this meant and all he heard was mate. He was a potential mate? He had questions but he wasn't sure how to word them. He knew that a mate was the Werewolf's other half, his partner or wife but he never really thought about it. He never knew what it meant to be a mate. He just thought they got married and called each other 'mate'. He was beginning to realize that it was much more involved.

He never planned on having dinner. He was going to question the Alpha and the wolf involved, get the information and leave. Now, he was sitting beside the Alpha at a table. And he was going to spend the night at the house. His stuff was in the hotel room where he planned on spending the night, alone and quiet. He watched a man come in and sit.

"Gideon, this is Fabian Delgado. He's the hunter that had questions about Dare." Oak smiled.

Gideon nodded. "Oh, good to meet you, Fabian. Welcome. I hope you found what you needed. Dare is a good wolf."

A black cat jumped on Fabian's lap and put her paws on his chest and sniffed his face. Fabian stared at it. "Uh, your cat is friendly." Jack began to purr and soften his leg until the door opened.

"That's my wife's familiar." Gideon smiled. "My familiar is a large black hare, Bugs. He chose that name and thinks it's funny! He loves watching Bugs Bunny and took the name." He smiled. "He's here somewhere, probably following Alanis through the kitchen." He saw Fabian stare. "Oh, she drops lettuce and carrots sometimes. He doesn't miss a meal."

Dare and Origin walked in wrapped together. "Good evening!" Origin smiled. "We had the best time in the car in the driveway!" He chuckled as Dare elbowed him.

Dare growled. "Shut up!"

Origin nuzzled Dare. "Keep growling, Wolf!" He bit Dare's ear.

Dare laughed. "Go get food, Vampire. Can't let you starve. Eat two and we will work it off!" He watched his man rush to the kitchen as a woman walked out with platters. Gideon jumped up and helped. Dare sat waiting for Origin. Alanis smiled as she sat. "Oh, Fabian, I heard you were here."

Fabian just watched her. He had no idea who she was but apparently news travels fast.

The black cat hopped from Fabian's lap and was curled up on Dare. Dare just petted her. "Hello, Jack. You know I couldn't miss dinner."

"She is mad that you don't sleep here!" Alanis smiled.

"I got a better offer." Dare smiled and winked at the cat that looked up and glared. He chuckled. "Anyway, it was a full moon last night and she knows that!" He glared at Jack.

"Fabian, this is Alanis, Gideon's wife. They are members of my pack also." Oak smiled.

"But you're not werewolves?" Fabian was confused.

Alanis smiled. "No, we are witches. Oak is a good Alpha, Fabian. We work for the pack. We are part of them. We felt it when we met Oak and then we moved here. It was instant."

"Instant? What did it feel like?" Fabian had to ask. Those visions were confusing.

Alanis smiled. "It's tough to explain. It just felt right. It felt like we were supposed to be here."

"So, no visions of anything?" Fabian stared. He felt off.

"No. Just a feeling." Gideon smiled. He was curious about what Fabian meant. "Uh, are you okay?"

Origin was back with his blood. He sat beside Dare and leaned in so that Dare could get his scent. Dare put his nose into Origin's hair and inhaled. "Better?" Origin smiled.

"Much. Thanks." Dare smiled. He held the glass as Origin poured his warmed blood into it. "Sorry if this is gross for you, but I just hate drinking it from a bag." He took a sip. "Oh, this is good and I'm starving!"

"You boys okay?" A man walked in. He pulled out a chair and a pretty blonde walked in and sat. She smiled at the man as he kissed her gently. He watched her as he sat beside Origin.

"Fabian, this is my brother, Cedar and his wife, Rain. We all usually eat here nightly." Origin smiled. "And we know it's strange."

Dare nodded. "I was shocked when I first arrived too. I fell in love at this table." He smiled.

"You are so cheesy, Husband." Origin smiled.

"Save it for the bedroom!" Cedar glared and Rain giggled.

"We have a wedding to plan, Rain!" Alanis smiled. She passed the food and they began to eat.

Rain inhaled. "I know. Origin gave me permission to do whatever we wanted!"

"You foolish man!" Oak smiled. He made sure that Fabian got enough meat and rolls. Fabian smiled at Oak.

Fabian nodded when there was enough. "Thanks." He whispered to Oak. Oak nodded.

Origin covered his face. "I know! It's going to be huge!" He put meat on Dare's plate and passed the platter.

Dare just laughed as he cut his meat.

Fabian was quiet as they ate. He noticed that one of the mates added the food to the other mate's plate. He didn't understand this at all. Oak put meat on his plate and he never thought twice. What was that? He almost shrugged and took a bite. This was delicious. He could see himself eating here every night. He sighed into his food.

Origin finished his first glass. "I have to get back to work in the morning and I have a job for you. Are you up for it, Dare?"

"Always." Dare glared. "I'm cleaning toilets, aren't I?"

Origin laughed at his husband. "No! My secretary is on maternity leave, I need someone to answer phones."

"Sounds terrible." Dare challenged Origin. They both smiled. "I'm all yours."

"Oh, never say that!" Origin's eyes glowed blue. "I will take you right on that desk!"

Dare growled and flashed his teeth. "I hope so. I am wearing some tight jeans tomorrow and a shirt that will stay unbuttoned." He bit Origin's ear. Origin's eyes shifted to black.

Cedar made a gagging noise. "I always thought it would be amazing to see Origin find love but I was wrong. It's disgusting!" He smiled at his brother.

Fabian stared. "So, you actually think of Origin as your brother?"

Cedar smiled at Origin and looked at Fabian. "I do. We hunt together and run together. I love him. We fight and argue like brothers but I respect him. He respects me. Right now, he's gross!" Cedar smiled. "I'm very happy for them and I'm his best man at the wedding." He watched Fabian. "So, how's the interview going? Was this part of it?"

Fabian cleared his throat. "Sure." It wasn't really, he was trying to figure Oak out. He was trying to grasp whatever the concept of this pack was. "I've met werewolves before, this is strange."

Oak smiled. "Not so much anymore, Fabian. I know of several packs that are more opened. We are beginning to realize that it isn't just wolves that need a home and a place to fit in. Somewhere they belong. We are beginning to realize that Packs can include others. We are happier for it."

"But a vampire, witches and a rogue? What's next, a hunter?" Fabian was freaking out.

Dare smiled. "I know that look. It's the same freaked out look I must have had when I realized I belonged here. Are you okay, Fabian?"

Fabian shook his head and stormed out. He rushed to his room and slammed the door.
