An abandoned shack lied in the middle of the forest, the starry sky above filled with doodles of stars and a beautifully painted moon hung over the lands.
Six walked out from the front of the shack and made her way away from the building. Mono wasn't with her, no, he was sleeping inside.
Six had decided to go off on a midnight walk by herself. She did this quite often, wandering away from Mono's side while they were asleep to go off and do their own thing. Always coming back around the time they would wake up. She had experienced Mono's sleep schedules for so long she developed a mental clock of when he should be waking up.
The forest was quiet, only the crickets of, well, crickets and hoots of owls interrupted the silence.
Six found a singular rock the perfect size to be a seat lying in the moonlight. The rock glimmers in the moonlight as Six approached. She sat down on the rock and stared up at the moon and the stars that surrounded it.
Six always thought the sky at night was incredibly pretty. How the moon seemed to glow and the star's rushedly drawn style oddly complimented it.
Six looked over to the left, there was a fern bush to her side. The papery leaves moving a bit in the wind. Six reached over and ripped a whole entire fern off the fern bush with effort. She might've just killed the plant but she didn't care.
Six stared down at the piece of paper she ripped from the fern and thought for a good moment. She then began folding it.
She created a squirrel origami then painted it with blue chalk she had in her pockets. The newly created squrriel blinked its eyes as it look around. It then looked up at Six.
"Watch the stars with me, why don't you?" Six said, putting the squirrel onto her shoulder. The squirrel squeaked, gripping onto Six's raincoat sleeve. Balancing itself, it sat down on her shoulder and stared up at the night sky with her.
"Pretty, huh?" Six said, the squirrel just quietly sat and stared. Of course not responding to her, it's a squirrel.
"Lovely." Six said as if she responded to something the squirrel said.
Something tossed a rolled up ball of paper at the squirrel, knocking it off Six's shoulder.
The squirrel squeaked, scampering off into the forest. Six watched it go before turning towards where the paper was thrown.
In the distance, only visible as a dark silhouette were two very familiar body shapes. A male deer and a boy riding it.
"Seven!" Six yelled, anger in her voice.
"Ha!" She heard Seven say, quickly patting his deer to tell them to leave. The deer turned and cantered off.
Six got up and began sprinting after Seven, no way she was letting him get away this time!
The wind howled as Six sprinted after Seven. Following his deer's footsteps, she maneuvered around fallen trees and bushes. Being able hear Seven's movements on his deer ahead allowed her to know she can definitely catch him. They weren't being too fast at the moment.
Six climbed up and over a hill, on the other side was a river. A tree fell over it, making a bridge to the other side. The tree trunk was perfectly perched on the wooden parts of the stream, keeping itself from being touched by enough water to weaken and dissolve it.
On the other side of the river was Seven riding his deer, he had just hopped off the tree trunk. He stopped the deer and stared at Six.
Six noticed Seven was holding a towel made in some kind of material. She didn't know what it was but it definitely wasn't paper, it looked pretty soft though.
Six approached the tree trunk, Seven began just walking off on his deer as Six came over. Not yet running. Seven looked over his shoulder as he moved, watching her.
Six carefully got onto the tree, making sure she was balanced before she got on. It'd be dreadful if she fell.
Six slowly walked across the tree trunk, Seven made his deer halt to watch. Six hopped off the tree on the other side, safe and sound.
"Thought you were going to fall." Seven admitted.
"If I did?" Six asked.
"Would be celebrating." Seven said.
Six began walking towards Seven with a mad expression, Seven grabbed the deer's antlers and turned them towards her. "Why did you came after me?" Seven asked.
"You knocked my origami off my shoulder!" Six yelled.
The wind began shaking the trees, the trees swayed side-to-side. The water from the river began moving faster than before.
"Oh yeah? What are you going to do about that?" Seven asked.
"This!" Six leaped towards Seven in an attempt grab him. The deer swung it's head and knocked Six back, hitting her in the stomach. She hit the ground with a thump.
Six got up, "ow..." She mumbled.
Seven laughed, "You're as pathetic as your origamis."
"I let you know I made a hybrid bigger than me!" Six yelled out despite agreeing to tell no one about the incident.
"Oh please, in your dreams." Seven said, laughing. The deer grunted as if it was laughing alongside him.
"Oh shut up. You witnessed it, deer." Six muttered.
The wind blew harder, water began spilling out the sides of the wooden river canal in small amounts. The nightly sky began getting clouded.
Six seemed to begin to really notice how strong the wind was getting. Seven as well. Though they both ignored it, focusing on each other more than their environment.
"I'm gonna need some really good proof if you of all people made a functioning hybrid! And one that big as well!" Seven said, giggling at the thought of something like that existing because of her.
"Why do you hate on my origamis so much?" Six asked, angry and irritated.
The deer ran over to Six on Seven's command, antlers down and at her face. Seven looked face to face. "Cause' it's fun." He smirked.
"I hate you." Six said before trying to shove Seven though his deer blocked it with his head.
"Anyways this was a nice meeting but I think it's time to depart." Seven said, making his deer turn around and begin walking off. "I got business to tend to and I don't think I should waste my time on you of all people."
"I think I can say the same for you." Six said, turning around and heading off to the fallen tree.
A large wind gush came along, catching Seven off guard. Nearly losing his towel in the wind.
"Oh Jesus, that was a strong one!" Seven said once the gush ended, "I think a pretty bad windstorm about to happen."
"aaaaarhhhhhhh." Seven heard a quiet, weak cry behind him.
Seven turned around, the deer moving to look over too. They saw Six lying on her side by the river's side. She was lying in a damp spot, half of her body soaked in water. Six shakily breathed, her eyes shut.
By her position and the noticeably faster water than they last looked it was obvious that the wind had splashed water onto her.
"Oh my god!" Seven exclaimed hopping off the deer, still holding the towel and rushed over to Six. "I didn't mean it when I said I'd be happy if Six got soaked in water, universe!"-
The deer grunted, walking closer to Seven.
Seven dragged Six away from the water by her dry parts. He wanted to pick her up but he couldn't without getting himself wet because of her. He looking down at his towel, getting an idea.
Seven wrapped the towel around Six, enclosing her whole body except her face in it.
Seven felt the deer stand directly over him, flinching a small bit in surprise he looked up. The deer stared straight at him, looking downwards at the boy.
"Look. I may be mean by I ain't that mean." Seven said, "I get enjoyment out of ruining someone's or part of someone's day until a certain extent."
"I'm not leaving somebody to die, that's a bit too far. Even for me." Seven said as he lifted up Six and moved around his mount. Putting Six on the deer's back then climbed on. Holding onto her to give her some support so she wouldn't fall off the deer's back. "Now let's go back to the hideout." He said.
The deer began running off towards the hideout, avoiding jumping whenever they could because of the extra (injured) passager on their back.
"Mo...." Six mumbled weakly.
"Mo..." Seven mumbled, thinking for a moment. "Oh right, you travel with some kid named Mono... Wonder where he is." He said.
The deer grunted, making a sudden turn around a tree trunk.
The deer began slowing down as it came close to something metal embedded into the ground.
It was a paper-painted-to-look-like-metal-outdoor-basement ground door. The basement had a single door that you pulled open, the doorknob of it resembling a pipe door handle.
The door was located right next to a dead tree. The dead tree looking very out of a place when surrounded by healthy living trees. The dead tree had no paper leaves on it anymore, just paper branches and sticks that clung onto it now.
On the tree was a black eagle. Seven's black eagle. The bird looked down at Seven, making screeching sounds in reaction to him approaching.
"Now what are you doing out, blackbird." Seven said, the deer coming to a stop. He hopped off the deer and grabbed Six. Getting a good grip on her when lifting her off the deer's back.
The deer walked over to the basement door. They bent their head down and got their antler under the door handle. The deer pulled back and opened the basement door. The door opening with a loud creak and thump once it hit the ground.
Inside the basement was a metal staircase leading down, it was a long staircase but where the stairs ended could be clearly seen.
The eagle spread its wings once the basement door opened, leaving the tree and instead circling the three for a bit before diving down the basement stairs. Then the eagle left their view as it had spread its wings and glided into the room the staircase ended in.
Seven went down next, being careful and slower than he usually would be going since he was carrying Six.
The deer got their antler around the handle on the back of the door and slowly walked backwards down the stairs, shutting the door. Once the door was shut they carefully turned around and went down with Eight down the stairs.
At the bottom of the stairs was a room about the size of an average living room. The basement had one single light that dimly lit the room. There were quite a few shelves, chairs, carpets, mattresses, and other things randomly placed against the walls of the basement and stacked on top of each.
The black eagle was perched on a high-placed chair backrest, staring down at them.
The walls were a pale, slightly faded brown color and the floor was unpainted concrete. Yet paint stains were all over the floors, showing where Seven had spilled art supplies while presumingly making origamis down here.
This basement used to be a storage room, but now with whoever owned it far gone and abandoned it with its items still inside. Seven has now turned this little storage room into his home.
A little home he shares with quite a few friends.
The deer grunted as Seven set Six down in the middle of the room. He carefully unwrapped the towel around her. She was definitely beginning to dry but she was still wet.
Chattering and chittering sounds could be heard from the piled-up furniture all around them.
The deer snorted and grunted, stomping their hooves. Fretting something about to happen.
Suddenly, small white cone-head humanoid origamis poured out from the gaps and wide cracks of the furniture piles. Some of them stopped to investigate the new child in the room while most of them went straight for the deer. Jumping and gripping into the deer, piling up on it.
The deer lost balance from the amount of the strange origamis on them and fell over.
Once the deer fell the critters separated from it, chittering in celebration. The deer let out an unamused grunt.
You see, these strange origamis were created by Seven. He came up with the species and brought them to life and he decided to name them Nomes.
And every time the deer leaves the basement then returns the Nomes always do a dogpile on the deer as a 'welcome back' thing despite the deer clearly not being amused by it whatsoever.
The Nomes that tackled the deer looked over at the girl in the towel and approached curiously.
"Careful, she's wet." Seven said, "She got splashed by the river."
The Nomes gave concerned glances and chatters in reaction.
"Yeah. Their name is Six by the way, they're my sister. Created with the same sheet of paper." Seven explained.
The room with silent, then suddenly a huge burst of chitters and chatters came from the Nomes at once. Showing their surprise.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. Shocking." Seven said.
Six began moving a bit, Seven backed up in reaction.
Grunting in pain, Six attempted to stand or at least sit up. "No-" Seven carefully pushed Six down by her dry spots. Six didn't fight him and ended up lying down on her stomach.
"Wh...Why d-did you h-help me..." Six asked, her voice still weak but not as weak as when she was just splashed.
Seven sighed, "I may be mean to you for my own personal enjoyment but I'm not the type of person to leave you out in a strong windstorm when you're horribly injured by water therefore defenseless and unable to move at all because of that. I'm not that cruel."
"Oh..." She said.
"But don't think this makes us friends." Seven quickly added on, "Once you're healed and you leave my sight again we're going back to normal. Me throwing rocks at you from a distance and having the time of my life doing so."
"You're a bully." Six huffed, staring off at a Nome. Beginning to take notice of how many of these odd creatures there were in here.
"Six, that's my one defining character trait." Seven joked.
"Yeah-" Six was interrupted by a nome's chatter, "What are these things and why are there so many?!"
"Those are nomes, a fictional species of mine I brought to life." Seven said, "Made every single one of them in the course of multiple days."
"W-Wow..." Six said, then looking over at the deer. They were lying down, Nomes huddling up against their soft fur for a form of comfort. One nome even lying on top of the deer.
"H-Hey, I-I've never learned the deer's n...name." Six said.
"Oh, that's deer." Seven replied.
"No, I-I mean the d-deer's name." Six said.
"Yeah, what I said. They're Deer." Seven assured.
"Wh... Wait, you named y-your deer... Deer?" Six asked, Seven nodded.
"Yep. The eagle's called Black Bird though." He explained.
"Th-That's dumb." Six mumbled.
Seven stared down at Six, "I wish I could get a heater for you but those are pretty hard to obtain and located deep in the Pale City..." Seven said mostly to himself.
Six thought to herself; getting hit by water was so painful- It was definitely going to leave a mark on her. She was so sure the water would leave some water-damage wrinkles on her. Though maybe it'll make her look cooler to people since she has visual proof of surviving water on her? Look more intimidating... Thinking about it like that, she kinda hoped it left a water damage mark.
Mono would be so surprised to see her with water marks...
Speaking of Mono, what would he do if he found her missing? She definitely wouldn't be back by the time Mono woke up.
Six got nervous, Mono better not go get himself injured like she did trying to find her. And certainly, if he did get hit by water nobody would be there to help him.
She hoped Mono was smarter than that.
Six didn't know what she'd do if Mono, her best friend and at that only friend, just died and all because of her own actions.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Mono woke up with a yawn, the soft and comfortable mattress and covers of the bed he slept on convincing him to cling to sleep a bit longer.
A gush of wind brushing against the house convinced him to open his eyes. He was in a paper shack of course, that's where Six and he were staying for a few days (Mono had suggested the idea of making this their permanent home but Six dismissed the idea). The insides had a small bed intended to be for one adult but it was big enough for the two kids.
A round, small paper table painted to look wooden with two foldable chairs pressed up close against it sat off to the left. Mono had set his paper bag on the table to sleep.
To the right was a little desk with old writing papers and a broken studying lamp.
The bed itself was to the back middle of the room, pressing against the wall of the room. There was a small silver-colored mirror resting on the front right leg of the bed with a small brown brush with black bristles tucked under the gap between the mirror and bed leg.
The floor and walls were paper painted to look wooden as well, giving a cabin feel to it. A cracked window was to the left of the stuck-unlocked front door, giving a nice view outside the shack.
"Gee, this wind is a bit wild. Huh, Six?" Mono said tiredly, looking over his shoulder and expecting Six to be there.
But of course, she wasn't here.
"Six?" Mono called out, sitting up to get a better view of the whole shack. She wasn't there. "Six?!"
Mono hopped off the bed in hurry, beginning to panic a bit. He got down and checked under the bed, she wasn't there either of course.
Mono looked at himself in the mirror momentarily before continuing the search. Without his mask shielding his face it could be seen he had unnatural pitch-black eyes (not the sclera). His hair was a bit long, having a sidebang covering his left eye.
Mono moved on, going straight to the table and climbing up onto it. He hurriedly put on his paper bag and jumped off the table, stumbling a small bit when he landed on the floor.
"Six!" He yelled out one last time before exiting the shack. As he expected, no response. Mono turned and opened the shack door. The cold wind brushing against him as soon as he opened it.
He was always told windstorms like these were deadly if you stay out too long, for what reasons he didn't know. But he didn't want him or Six to find out either.
"SIX!" Mono yelled out, shutting the door behind him and pushing through the windstorm.
He searched for Six's tracks, evidence of somewhere she went.
The tracks were barely still there, but Mono could see Six's foot-tracks. They were in the process of being covered by dirt being blown over it by the wind.
Mono hurriedly followed the footsteps, trying to get as far as possible before they inevitably disappear due to the harsh winds.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"M-Mono will be fine. Hopefully he'd w-wait until the storm is ca-calm before going out." Six whispered quietly to herself.
Seven picked up a few words in her whisper, "Hm?" He said.
"Nothing... J-Just a bit worried a-about Mono." Six said, "He-He's gonna notice I'm gone and p-probably venture out to find me. I-I want to believe he'll w-wait until the storm calms to find me but..."
"As long as he isn't an idiot, he'll be fine." Seven said.
"Problem is, he is an idiot." Six said.
"Oh well, that's... Unfortunate." Seven said.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The cold air made Mono terribly shiver but he kept going onwards following the footprints, "Six!" He yelled out as he walked through the forest.
He hoped Six was nearby, this wasn't the condition for either of them to be out. But if Six was out here suffering he'd suffer to rescue her.
Mono began to wonder as he walked, "What if Six got taken by something while she was out and didn't just get lost..."
"But if that is the case, what could've taken her? It couldn't be the Thin Man. He doesn't come out this far, he just terrorizes the Pale City. He leaves the wilderness alone..." Mono thought out loud to himself, "Maybe Seven?... No, he's bothersome but he would never kidnap. Maybe she really did just got lost or injured and just sitting somewhere at the ends of these tracks. The latter is more likely than the others, I think that's what the case is going to be."
Mono found where the tracks ended, the river with the fallen tree bridge.
He stopped in front of the river. He distanced himself from the water to prevent himself from being splashed as the water was being a bit wild in this weather, splashing all around as it traveled through the wooden canals.
Then a scary thought came to Mono, what if she fell into the water and got swept away? She'd be dead.
However, the thought of that went away when he noticed footsteps going on on the other side of the river. She made it over.
Mono felt determined as he lined himself up with the fallen tree at a distance. The water splashed against the tree but not all splashes went high enough to touch the top. If he just got lucky and was fast...
Mono sprinted over to the fallen tree, leaning onto it and running across. He nearly tripped and fell due to how unbalanced he was while rushing over it.
When Mono was about to jump off the tree and go onto the other side he had slipped, grabbing hold of and desperately clinging onto the tree trunk for dear life. He wrapped his arms and legs around the tree trunk to balance himself, his limbs starting to sting as he was beginning to get a bit wet from doing so.
Mono climbed upright onto the trunk again and jumped off, being as quick as possible to prevent himself from being splashed and probably killed by the water.
He had gotten lucky too because just when he got off the tree trunk a large wave of water slammed against the fallen tree, Mono ran away from the river to dodge the water spraying onto the shoreline.
He searched the area for where Six's footprints continued to lead, but then he realized that the footsteps just ended on the other side of the river.
"What...?" Mono mumbled to himself, relooking over the footsteps to confirm what he was seeing.
He noticed the deer prints and another child's footprint, he could tell they were clearly a different kid's tracks from Six's as Six's footprints were smaller than these new footprints.
But strangely enough, these footprints also suddenly disappeared like Six's. Both vanishing, the only thing that hasn't disappeared was the random deer's footprints trekking through the sand and into the forest ahead.
Though, something clicked. A deer... both kids footprints disappearing suddenly...
"Seven, why..." Mono muttered, following the deer's tracks. "Chances are, it was you who took Six. But this may be just a random wild deer's tracks... Don't know which one I want to be true."
"Actually, I take it back. If Seven took her, I'd have a good guide to find Six. If not, oh boy I'd be really lost." Mono corrected himself as he walked alongside the deer's trail.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Six still lied on the towel, her wet patches not as wet anymore and steadily drying. Though she still wasn't dry enough for Seven to just carelessly touch.
Seven sat next to Six, "Speak." He said.
"H-Hey." Six responded.
"Say a sentence, nothing as short as that." Seven said.
"H-Hello. How are you." She said.
"Okay, less stuttering. You're getting better." He said, "How do you feel?"
"I'm s-still in pain, less pain than before though." Six said. "I-I might can walk though..."
"Let's not try walking yet, but how about trying to finally sitting up?" Seven said, Six nodded and attempted to sit up. She winced and grunted in pain as she moved her position, despite the trouble this time she was able to sit up despite the pain to do so.
"Great, you're improving." Seven said as Six looked around the room. Looking back at all the Nomes staring at her.
"How many Nomes are in here?" Six asked.
"About 24." Seven said, "And I want to make more Nomes- I love seeing all the Nomes get so excited whenever they get a new friend and adore the joy of creating life."
"Yeah, creating new life is amazing. It's so satisfying whenever the origami comes to life." Six said, "All the time you put into your work finally bounce to life."
Seven nodded, "It really is..."
"But it really sucks whenever you come along and kill or attack my origamis." Six added on, bitterness in her voice.
"Oh, shut up." Seven said.
"Seriously, I hate that!" Six said, anger rising in her tone."I put lots of effort into my origamis!'
"Quiet." Seven said.
"Why do you do this?! What's fun about that to you!' Six asked angrily.
"It's just fun, okay?" Seven said.
"Fun isn't an excuse!" Six said, "How would you feel if I just grabbed a Nome and killed it?"
"Oh, I wouldn't like that. I'd be mad." Seven said.
"Well, I don't like you killing my origamis. I'm mad when you do it, just like how'd you be mad if somebody killed your Nome." Six said, "So can you please stop it?"
"Hmmmm.... Nope. Never." Seven said.
"I hate you." Six said.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Mono staggered as he followed the tracks, violently shivering. He was always told windstorms were dangerous to be out in, but we never knew exactly why. Though as he began getting colder and colder he started to understand the reason.
He felt like he was beginning to die. Paper really couldn't stand the wind, he realized a bit too late.
The cold air felt like it was digging into his papery skin, every inhale of the cold air was painful.
He stumbled forward a bit before collapsing on his side next to the deer tracks. Shivering, he curled up into a tight ball.
He began forgetting about Six and focused on that fact he was more than likely going to die, unable to keep moving as he found his limps going stiff.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Do you want some food, Six?" Seven asked, "I have a good stash of glitter."
Glitter was a type of food in this world and the most common type of it.
"No. I'm not hungry." She said.
"Really? You've been in here for a while." Seven pointed out, "You're really not hungry? Not even a little bit?"
"I'm too worried about Mono to eat." Six admitted, "He'd definitely get himself killed looking for me
"Well, if it makes you feel better we could to check how the wind is. Who knows, maybe it stopped and Mono is perfectly fine going out in this condition?" Seven said, Six thought about it for a moment.
"Okay." Six said, Seven turned around and headed towards the basement door. The deer lifted their head up to watch Seven go up the stairs, once he left their view they lied their head back down again.
Seven grabbed the handle of the door and opened it. As he opened the metal door cold air blew into the open entrance, making Seven flinch from the sudden coldness.
Seven shut the door, Six could feel the breeze of coldness as the air travelled down the stairs. She didn't even need to ask how it was outside.
The deer sniffed the air as the cold breeze came over. Lifting their head to investigate the air.
"Well-"
"It's cold out there. I could feel it." Six cut off Seven, "He wouldn't manage well up there."
"Maybe he've realized that and is taking cover somewhere. Keeping warm." Seven suggested, walking back over to Six and sitting down next to her.
"No..." Six mumbled, "He wouldn't..."
Deer got up, nomes that clunged onto the deer falling off them. The two kids watched as the deer headed towards the staircase then proceeded to trot up the staircase.
Seven got up to follow, Six did too but as she tried to get up she let out a sharp cry of pain and fell over. Unable to stand.
"No, stay here." Seven said.
"But-" Six was cut off by Seven,
"Nomes. Watch her." He commanded, the Nomes chattered and chittered in response. Understanding him. Six gave a noise of disapproval as Nomes surrounded her.
Seven followed Deer up the stairs. Deer was at the door of the basement, getting their antler under the handle and opening it. The deer snorted in reaction to the wind and stepped out. Seven climbed out behind him, shutting the basement door behind them.
"What is it?" He asked the origami. Deer sniffed the air then looked down at Seven. They turned and lowered their antlers at them, then nudged them back with them. Walking backwards and waving their antlers at them.
"Stay here?" Seven guessed, the deer grunted and turned. Seven assumed he must've gotten it right.
Deer sprinted off in a random direction.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Mono lied incredibly still on the ground, his breathing beginning to slow and his body felt numb. He could still keep his eyes open, however just barely.
He wished he was back at the cabin. Provided with all the shelter and protection he'd need. Back at the cabin with six.
Six. He'd been looking for her this whole entire time. With the state of things now, he had killed himself looking for her. Mono knew he was dying, no doubt about it now.
He hoped Six was fine. He hoped Six can manage on her own without him.
Not saying Six needed him to survive, she could definitely survive on her own. He was just meaning... grief-wise.
Mono's eyes began to get heavy. This is it. He told himself in his thought. Thank you for everything, Six. As he closed his eyes he began hearing the stomping of hooves nearing him.
He tried to strain his eyes to keep them open so he could see what the sound was but he couldn't. Too tired, too weak.
Too cold.
...
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Six was ranting to the Nomes about all her worries, the Nomes responded in chitters. She couldn't understand them as well as Seven but she thinks they get her.
Six quieted down when she heard Seven and Deer descending down the staircase.
"Welcome ba-" She shut her mouth, her face filled with dread when she saw Mono being carried by Seven down the stairs. Deer close behind him.
Seven set Mono onto the ground across from Six.
If origamis could produce tears Six would be crying, Mono was motionless. As motionless as a dead body would be.
Seven noticed Six's sadden state, "Calm down Six, he's still breathing. Give me your towel." He said.
Six rolled off the towel and Seven grabbed it and wrapped it around Mono instead. "That should warm him up, hopefully." Seven said.
"Where did you get that towel from by the way?" Six asked, "It's definitely not made of paper..."
"It's made of cotton and string. I found it in the Pale City." Seven said, "I was returning from the Pale City with it when I ran into you."
"Pretty lucky you had it, huh?" Six said, Seven nodded.
"Wouldn't be able to carry it without you." Seven said, then stared at Mono for a moment.
"Another reminder. Once you guys leave we're going back to normal." Seven said.
"Mhm. I know." Six said.
"When Mono wakes up, explain to him what happened because im going to sleep now." Seven said, "Ask the Nomes if you want food."
"Alright." Six said, staring at Mono. "Goodnight."
"Night." He said.

In windstorms, instead of having them at risk to blow away because they're paper I decided to make them more susceptible to the cold of the winds and more likely to freeze to death in windstorms as if it's a blizzard if they stay out too long.
Six, Seven, and Deer weren't affected since they weren't out that long but Mono... Yeah.
This doesn't apply to plant origamis.
