note: before I start I would  like to clarify that I don't mean to hurt anyone in this rant/open letter. I'm just expressing my views on somethings I've been noticing on wattpad etc. Feel free to write your point of view on these topics. I'm not trying to call out people or anything in this either, I've done it only a couple of times on wattpad and honestly the God damn person kept ranting about it even after she said sorry like ????

synonyms: copying, infringement of copyright, piracy, theft, stealing.

Something that I've been noticing on desi wattpad A LOT these days is plagarism. particularly the bollywood-south Indian side. To these people my question is...

is it so hard to come up with your own ideas for stories? it can't be that hard, the authors you admire can so why can't you?

is it so hard to put in some effort? if you can put in effort in to copy someone elses work why not put in effort to actually come up with an idea?

must you then make the one who's calmly asked you why you did so, seem like the bad person? it's just plain wrong. And if you haven't plagiarized why act so rude?

I've been on wattpad for 2 years. When I first joined and started writing there was hardly anything for the first couple of months. BUT when me and my friends started "Mission Desi" someone plagiarized the idea literally a few days after us. And it was plagarism, it wasn't a mere coincidence.

And honestly since then I've been done. I've seen people copying my cover making style and many things from my graphics. the first part (the style) it definitely could be a coincidence as i myself used to take inspo from Kiran (Krazy_Kiran) when i initially started. BUT things from my graphics is ridicoulous (although this incident was outside of wattpad to an extent I needed to state it).

Now at times some incidents are ACTUAL coincidences, some ideas may be common and could merely be a coincidence, and if they are the issue can be cleared calmly. And if they aren't, it can be calmly sorted out. One of my friends has done this once and the entire issue was sorted in PM.

Also if anyone reading this has ever PLAGARISED. I'm so sorry, sorry you don't value hard work and are a bunch of lazy assholes 🙃.

In the REAL world people plagarize as well and it's ridiculous.

A kind reminder to the plagiarizing assholes, when you go to uni and get a job. If you plagiarize you get fired, you'll be jobless, and honestly no one will ever hire you.

This was quite serious and I know a lot of people don't read this but this has been on my mind for ages so I just wanted to share my thoughts on this issue and my feelings on it 😂.

I have many more "dear desi wattpad" chapters for the future as well ☺.

what were your thoughts on this open letter/rant? If it was too harsh in any areas it wasn't intentional and I'm stressing on this again. I am NOT talking about anyone in particular, I better not get a message from someone after I publish this about how they're sorry for plagiarizing, because I won't respond and I definitely wasn't talking about you ♡.
