Part 1:Hachiman Hikigaya

I don't on Oregairu or any of it's characters.

===============================

Hachiman Hikigaya.

A boy who has lived his life treated like dirt for most of his life by children and teachers who have disrespected, bullied and hurt him psychologically.

Because of this, he has grown to be a cynical, self loathing, pessimistic, verbally cruel, and near nihilistic boy who believes that nothing good ever happens to him and that youth is a lie made from hypocrites.

Although I sympathize and empathize with him, maybe feel sorry for him, I have to say it is partially his fault for all of that to happen to him.

He has lived his life filled with so much negativity, so much agony and toxicity from others that he has made walls around himself to block out all of reality with his own factual, but very ridiculous and half assed sense of reality.

He is a boy who has inwardly and outwardly stated how much he hates how society and life around him treats him as, but has never truly verbally or physically expressed it.

His monologues are proof of this. While most of what he says and thinks is 90% factual when it comes to the people around him, it is also at the same time comedic, overbearing, and self righteous self-indulgence for himself to hear his own voice than others because no one else would talk to him.

Basically, it is just him talking to himself.

In truth, we all have our moments of doing the same thing, but for him, it is his way to overcome that weakness of his loneliness. He blames people, he blames the world, and he barely blames himself.

He has made the idea of the word "Loner" to a point of iconic and also stupid in anime.

He hates the things and people who he believes make the world rotten but has made no effort to change that.

He would rather watch and point it out than actually doing something about it.

He has made a few points though. He has, at times, had very little choices to make when dealing with problems and issues due to the environments and the people in it. And he feels oppressed by others, which again is true. But again, he made no effort to change that.

He let it happen. Over and over again.

In reality, people who have been pushed around by others would be to get angry, push back, and fight.

Sometimes, the more common thing to happen with people who have been wronged for so long would be to just snap, lose it, lash out verbally and physically and grow not to care about others' personal and stupid bias and just focus on making themselves happier and take interest in the bigger and more important things in life.

But Hachiman did not do any of these things.

He just rolled with it with deep rooted annoyance and anger, letting it build up, and never letting it out.

If he had, he would have had a ton of people back off.

Of course there is the obvious probability that they would have feared him more than hate him, but at least he would have finally shown some pride and bravery within himself, he would have never been messed with again and he would have been able to live his life in peace.

But... he didn't.

Why? Because he cannot. Or worse yet, he chooses not to.

He is one of the many characters in anime his that play the old, tired, rinse and repeat cliche of being a character that is highly intelligent, but somehow mentally locks himself from doing anything truly prideful or with down to earth common sense.

He is a boy who hates being miserable, but chooses to remain being miserable.

A few people around him weren't doing him any favors either by treating him like crap and at the same time care very little for him which only fuels the toxicity even more.

Yui and Yukino only insulted him, even if they "cared" about him.

Shizuka who is a grown woman who is emotionally unstable and is highly sensitive about being single about having no man in her life and punches Hachiman for it when he points it out to her.

His parents favor his sister Komachi over him. His father has even threatened to KILL him if she got taken away of hurt.

Komachi herself is spoiled and insults her brother for the fun of it.

And in the end, he dates Yukino, a girl who insults and treats him as someone lower than him with a smile on her face.

He could have done a lot about that. He could have shown some backbone. But again, to repeat, he didn't.

He refused to do anything about it.

Why? I do not know. Maybe because he is use to extreme negativity, or because he does know what to do and does not want to do it because he believes it just makes things worse, or maybe it's because being around people like this is somehow more comforting than chasing them off for mistreating him which would make him even more alone and lonely. I guess we will never know.

Point is, in the end, Hachiman Hikigaya is someone who just destined to be an unintentional/intentional doormat, and a beacon of depression and psychological torture.

But to be honest, when it comes to characters like this, what else is new?
