Chapter 5
Hiroto bumped into someone and was sent tumbling back into the street.
Looking up, he locked eyes with someone clearly of high ranking.
They had short black hair sweeped to one side, and were wearing a billowing grey cloak with multiple bumps implying emergency weaponry. Their wings had snapped out on instinct from the sudden collision, and judging by their sheer size, they had to be noble. At least.
But... Why would a noble be wandering the busy streets on the poorest colony there was?
The person silently offered a slim, light blue hand, and Hiroto awkwardly took it. He was falling over a lot recently, perhaps he needed to fiddle with his stabiliser. His stamina was still a mystery.
"Adrian Xavier, at your service" his voice was sleek, and Hiroto realised #76 was in fact bowing. He followed her lead hastily then shot back up so hastily he was nervous he may get whiplash.
"W-why are you here?" he stammered, mentally facepalming at how rude he almost certainly sounded. Adrian let out a light laugh.
"I was simply having a check up on this sad excuse for a planet- terrorism has been wild lately, haven't you heard?"
Hiroto froze, eyes wide. #76 stiffened beside him as well.
"W-what do you mean, terrorism?" #76 stammered.
"We will eradicate those responsible" he gave her a placating look. "Surely you already knew of it? It was on the interspacial intercom."
She blinked. "I didn't hear anything?"
Adrian looked equally bewildered. "Was no one informed?" he murmered, finger tapping on his chin in deep thought. Hiroto backed up slightly.
Adrian's eyes snapped to him, and Hiroto was uncomfortably aware that his eyes didn't reflect the light. They were dull.
"Well, I'm going to go check on the system" he decided after several tense moments. "Good day, you two"
He stalked off, cape billowing behind him.
Hiroto watched as the Billowing figure rounded the corner, and took a hefty breath out.
"He makes you feel like you're being suffocated, don't he?" #76 murmered. Hiroto nodded slowly.
"He's deputy head enforcer of law in the government. Makes sure everything goes according to plan. Well, looks like he failed" she turned to him, eyes shining in fear. "Why the hell would there be terrorism on this planet?? I've never heard of it before.. and there's no way that could be occurring in this small colony without mass disruption.." she glared at the floor. "There's more to this.."
"Do you know anyone who could be like that?" he mused, and she rolled her eyes. "Hell no!"
He nodded, and she collapsed onto her knees, eyes narrow. "There's gotta be something big going down... But what?!"
Hiroto shrugged and she scowled.
"Not bloody helpful, dude"
"Hey, chill. I've only just been informed of it, no need to get agitated over information we haven't even been given " Karma stated, walking over. Hiroto blinked and #76 stared bullets.
"Are you still stalking us?"
"I was just tryna be nice" he folded his arms childishly. "You should really be thanking me, y'know"
"And how the hell did you come by your info, huh?"
He raised his hands in defence. "Sheesh, i just have some connections."
"Well, we just met enforcer Adrian." Hiroto said offhandedly. "Seemed like an awfully nice chap"
Karma sighed. "Of course you'd think the asshole is NICE"
Hiroto flinched away, slightly upset, and Karma sighed, deflating. "Sorry"
He glanced at the sky. The stars seemed to be dimming, shifting position.
"It's nearly end of this day. Could i possibly crash at yours again?"
"Sur-" Karma was cut off by a loud high pitched noise.
A massive explosion sounded from the other side of the town, bits of marble and white stone flying into the air, screams and ash all around them.
They all exhanged a glance, then ran in the direction it had came from
