Tadpole
The days had been very quiet since the news of the murder of the Eden leaders.
The Eden police were busy looking for the culprit of the murder, so they were not paying attention to searching for the fugitive assassin.
They were walking through the streets of the city, Bullfrog was wearing a black sweatshirt that Ramón forced him to put on so that it wouldn't be so obvious to recognize him, but well... He decided not to complain because otherwise he would spend more time locked up.
At least he could go out... Although necessarily accompanied by the alien. It was just a casual walk, no kind of mission or anything like that, although things were different when they saw a guy throw a bucket down the drain to a tadpole, Bullfrog was scared by that.
The first thing Ramón did was hit the guy and Bullfrog didn't think twice to go save the little tadpole. The water current was hard but he still managed to get back... Although he felt heavy because his sweatshirt was completely soaked.
He came out of the drain a little tired. Ramón, upon seeing him, let go of the guy who already had a broken nose and went to the frog.
—Are you ok? Is the tadpole okay?
Bullfrog nods and shows him the small tadpole he had in his hands.
—Take off your sweatshirt, it's totally wet, let me grab the tadpole.
The hybrid hands him the tadpole and does as he was told, seriously the sweatshirt was heavy like that. The blonde gave the little one again and covered the frog with his vest and then began walking home.
It was an outing... Interesting.
In the older's house, the assassin took a bucket and filled it with water and then placed the tadpole in it, making sure the water was at medium temperature. Then he went to take some lettuce and cut it, then he poured some into the bucket and sat down to the side. Ramón watched how he did everything in silence, then sat next to Bullfrog.
—It would be nice to buy a big fish tank... Pour le têtard
The frog spoke softly as he watched the little tadpole eat that lettuce. Ramón gets up.
—Okay... Do you want to come?
Bullfrog looks at him and shakes his head, looking back at the tadpole.
—I'll stay and take care of the tadpole... Je serai bien
He spoke without seeing the blonde who remained silent for a few seconds and left.
—Pauvre, how cruel people can be... At least now you are safe with me and Ramón...
He spoke softly with a slight smile.
—Quel genre de personne ferait ça ? Jeter un bébé dans les égouts... Ce genre de personnes devraient mourir...
He spoke to himself with a serious tone, sighs and settles into his place, realizing that he was still wearing Ramón's jacket.
—Why didn't he ask me to give it to him?...
He decided not to think about it too much, refocusing on the tadpole.
—Tu es très petit...
The tadpole measured at least 14 cm.
—Where will your family be?...
He lowered his gaze slightly, if this was going to be thrown away like waste into the drain... It could have happened several times before and maybe it will happen again... That thought saddens him. He looks up at the bucket a little, the tadpole was poking its head slightly above the water, as if looking at the frog.
There was a slight silence until the tadpole spit water towards the hybrid, he laughed lightly at that. The tadpole turned in place and then saw him again. Bullfrog smiled at it and the tadpole went back to eating it lettuce.
At least he seemed happy, he heard the door open.
—I came back... I don't know how big it must have been... But I hope this is okay.
Bullfrog smiles softly as he sees the fish tank.
—C'est parfait!
Without taking long they moved the little tadpole to the big fish tank, he seemed happy because of the size of the new place. The frog noticed some small food jars.
—Mon ami... Why did you buy fish food?
He lifted the jar with a confused face and the alien looked a little nervous.
—W-well... I didn't know what tadpoles ate and I was embarrassed to ask...
He scratched the back of his head with some embarrassment. Bullfrog was silent for a few seconds and then started laughing. The blonde smiled when he saw this, seeing the frog laugh was something nice, he laughed without malice and when he thought about things he also started to laugh, it was stupid.
When they stopped laughing they smiled, the hybrid found Ramón's behavior regarding food somewhat cute.
—So... What do tadpoles eat?
He asked calmly.
—En général, vegetation... Although they can be omnivores, fresh plant leaves are better...
He explained with a smile, he was pleased that Ramón wanted to know more.
—Ok... And... What are we going to call it?
—Eh?
—The tadpole... Looks like we're going to take care of it for a while... We should give it a name, right?
He hadn't really thought about it, he looked at the little tadpole spinning in place.
—Oui... Hum... Suggestions?
Look at him, he didn't know what name to give it.
—Ah uh... How about... Vidange?
Bullfrog frowns and crosses his arms.
—We're not going to put Vidange on it! That's it... Drain...
—What better than remembering the origins?
He spoke in a playful tone raising his hands, the frog hits him.
—No, and that name is not up for discussion... A nom de merde...
He whispered the last bit in annoyance as the alien laughed lightly.
—Well, well... Laitue?
—I don't know if you're doing it on purpose... That's lettuce...
—It seems to love lettuce, you can't give me a single complaint and I doubt we'll travel to France for anyone else to complain.
Bullfrog sighs, maybe he couldn't think of anything.
—Well, let it be called Laitue...
Ramón smiles and looks at the tadpole.
—Did you hear? Now your name is Laitue
The alien spoke childishly, the frog smiles sweetly. The little tadpole jumps lightly in the water, looking happy.
—And your middle name will be Vidange!
He spoke happily, although it was still out of annoyance.
—No!
—But it sounds like a very sophisticated name, Laitue Vidange... Sounds great
—But that means... Lettuce Drain...
—Well, no one is going to translate the names.
The hybrid covers his face with one hand.
—Hey... I think technically we adopted a baby...
He removed his hand from his face and looked at Ramon with a slight blush on his cheeks, then shifted his gaze to Laitue.
—Oui... It seems that way...
Honestly, for the name I only translated random words that had nice meanings but didn't look good.
