Mimi hugged her pillow and tossed her head to the other side of the bed. She stayed limp for some minutes before she moved again. Sleep had refused to pay her visit today. Her heart was in motion but she couldn't explain which type was it. It was as if she was yearning for something beyond her reach yet close to her.
She sat down and held her head in her palm, slowly she shove her hand into her hair and let out an exhaustion sigh before she walked to her drawer and pulled out the squeezed paper. Mimi unplugged her phone from the socket and turned it on.
She translated a few sentences and wrote them down.
*whoever has an atom/ a morsel size pride will not enter paradise. Do not walk boastfully or arrogantly. Do not walk with your head high for, no matter what, you will never reach the mountain in height and will never tear the earthcrust*
Mimi stopped to laugh, she quickly palmed her mouth when she realised it was late in the night. She skipped to the last paragraph.
*Lower your voice because raising of voice is like the sound of a donkey.*
She smiled.
*last, know that I will never forgive you for taking my farm nor for insulting my father. I will not try to fight back because there's a thickline between us. I will not ask you to give me back my property but for sure you're going to account for this in the court of Allah; the court of justice with no corruption. The court where your status of opulence or penury will not rescue you. A court where justice is given to the one who was being cheated. Think about this, you snatched the treasure of orphans while you had the chance to buy any other farm including mine but because of cruelty, and abuse of power you snatched it away.*
*I am a very simple person that forgives easily but on this, I doubt if I can ever forgive you*.
*Change your ways before it's too late. It's an advice; take it or leave it.*
By the time she was done translating and reading, Mimi was in pool of tears. She felt so remorseful for what she did but blamed her father. Although Sadiqu didn't harass or insult her, the words pierced her heart sharply. It was as though it's being ripped apart.
She cried to her satisfaction and slept overtook her with Sadiqu's face showing in her mind.

"Mother it's about that farm. I don't think I like it anymore but how much do you think it will cost?" Mimi released her mother's hair which was oiling and combing it. She loosened the last strand and combed it all before she put on the ribbon on. She loved doing that to her mother.
"What happened?" Her mother asked surprisingly.
"I keep dreaming about the owner," she bit her lower lip. Her mother looked at her for some seconds before she replied.
"I thought I told you to leave the owner alone with his farm but you followed your wish albeit." Mimi sighed. She knew her mother must talked about that. With the way her mother behaves, she doubt if she was her mother. Her mother was strict and cautious unlike her father who does things according to her will with no follow up.
With no word being exchanged between them, minutes passed until Mimi became bored with the silence. She looked at her mother who was now eating vegetable salad with carrot juice. Her mother was a vegetarian and very selective of what she eats.
Mimi had always seen her take vegetables for all her life. She believed it was an abnormality; because; even for juices, her mother drinks the veggies type the most or a combination of fruit and vegetables. For example, a mix of cucumber and dates juice.
"Mother, I will go and see Leek tomorrow for our admission stuffs." She informed and left immediately. It was more like stating a fact rather than asking for permission. Her mother shook her head and wondered when Mimi would ever grow up and change.
Immediately she reached her room, she remembered something and came back to the parlor. "Can I go?" She asked by putting her hands on her mother's shoulder.
That was a relief to Hajiya Maryam. It soothed her troubling heart. "Yes, you can." Mimi didn't missed the beautiful smile on her mother's face.

"Nazeer, I am not joking with you. Where's your result?" His father, Alhaji Omar fisted his palms together waiting for Nazeer to answer.
"Oh come on pappy, this is my life and you have no business with it. Is it not result? I will show you but you shouldn't be pestering me anyhow. For wh..." Nazeer didn't complete his sentence when a slap landed on his cheek.
Hajiya Sadiya quickly stood from her sitting position and held Nazeer.
"What is this Alhaji? What did this boy did to you? He's telling you the truth! You shouldn't bother his life. It's..." Alhaji Omar raised his hands.
"Excuse me Sadiya!" Nazeer went out murmuring incoherent words while throwing his hands in the air.
"I can see you're the one who's backing him. Don't you see how's he's talking to me like I'm his mate? Nazeer wasn't like this, you... I mean it's your fault." Alhaji Omar searched for his keys and barged out of the parlor leaving Sadiya standing with mouth agape.
"Nazeer, open this door." He heard his mother knocking but he couldn't open the door for her. He don't want her to see him in the state he was. He quickly hid the bottle of the syrup and layed on the bed. His father had made him angry and the only way to quench his anger was by taking that syrup.
Slipping out of the world, he became oblivious to her knocking as the syrup circulated his system. On reflex, he stood to open the door but the drug has consumed his body making him slipped back on his bed where he began to sleep.
Hajiya Sadiya got tired of knocking and left, thinking of what transpired between the three of them.

"Leek, what are the signs of love?" Mimi asked Maleekah as they pluck fruits from the little garden at Maleekah's house.
Leek closed her eyes briefly, thinking of Sadiqu whom has became very close to her now. A smile graced her face before she answered.
"You find yourself thinking about that person all the time. You begin to love everything about them... You feel like, you can fight against all odds to stay with them." Leek stopped to study Mimi.
"But why are you asking? Did Musaddiq Tofa said he's in love with you?" Leek asked.
"I have even forgotten about him. I don't even love him initially, it was just a crush." Mimi replied. They walked to wash the fruits and sat on the swings.
"Then who's the lucky guy?" Maleekah asked.
"I am not even sure. But I think I'm in love because I can't stop thinking of him. I don't know if it's not love because I have never been in a relationship. I'm in a deep mess Leek. So forget about it." Mimi shrugged.
"What do you mean by that? I mean you can get any man swooning over you with a twirl of your finger so what's so big about this?" Leek curiously asked.
"He's an extraordinary man Leek." Sadiqu flashed to Maleekah's brain and she smiled because that's the only word that could describe him. He's an extraordinary guy with a charming personality.
"Ya Allah. Get straight to the point Mimi."
"For the first time in history, I'm going to leave this in my heart without sharing it with you. You know when something is extraordinary, you have to keep it intact. Therefore, I leave my heart to nurture this young love before I reveal it to the world." Maleekah stared at Mimi in wonder.
She just hoped whoever was it, he's worthy of Mimi's love.
