Chapter 63 - Tac-

Hawks watches Sachiko down a whole bottle of smart water before she turns towards him, melting the plastic in her hand.

"Sachiko-" His nose wrinkled in disgust at the smell of the melting plastic, the teenager ignoring him and freezes the bottle quickly, only to melt the contents into nothingness. "What? My own way of recycling."

"I don't think that's how that works since the air is now contaminated with the plastic's fumes-" Sachiko snorts, placing her hands on her hips, staring directly at his face, the two were relatively the same height. Hawks didn't know if that was a big blow to his ego at the age of 22 almost 23 and Sachiko soon to be turning 17 next month. 'Damn Todoroki genes.' He thinks to himself in anguish.

"Alright so, Midnight, or Nezu I think, wants you to learn more about aerial fights. For what reason, I don't have the slightest clue, so we are just going to do some basic learning today, nothing spontaneous."

"Ah, so no flips?"

"No flips. I don't want you breaking your neck on my watch-" Sachiko suddenly rushes towards him, Hawks, thinking that she intended to barrel into him, planted himself further into the ground, but unbeknownst to him she kicks off of his chest and does a flip- 'Oh.' He grunts, staggering slightly back at the force she used against him.

Sachiko lands back on her two feet, the random flip leaving the young man blinking in confusion at her. "What was that about?"

"I know how to do flips, birdy. I ain't going to break my neck from that." Hawks sighs heavily, keeping his amused smile out of her line of sight.

"Okay~" He chirps, blinking a couple of times to formulate his thoughts again. He was never good at teaching or learning in general. So trying to teach a teenager with a lot of issues was going to be... A bit interesting.

"Have you fought with your fire a lot? I know that your brother doesn't too much."

"I have, fire is much easier to control in my opinion. Ice can be a bit... Unpredictable." He furrows his brow, 'Wouldn't it usually be the other way around?' He doesn't question her on it, or else he would lose track of what he wanted to say next.

"Okay uh," He clears his throat, coughing into his forearm, "You have seen how Endeavor would use his flames to fly himself up into the air, correct?" Sachiko nods, making no sudden movement to suggest to him that she was uncomfortable at the mention of the asshole.

"Would you be able to do that for me? Just in whatever capacity or way that you want to do it, whatever makes you feel most comfortable."

"Alright." She answers simply, cracking her neck real quick before igniting flames at the palms of her hands, directing the heat the bottoms of her feet.

"Those shoes are fireproof, right?"

"I mean, yeah, but generally I don't fly up in the air by fire, so we will see if they melt or not by the concentrated force/heat," Sachiko tells him, slowly lifting off of the ground, staggering back and forth, doing her best to keep her balance without the aid of gravity to keep her down. Likewise, she did somewhat feel gravity doing its damn best to pull her back down, straining down on her head and shoulders. She grunts, gripping his fists, adding more juice to the flames, sending her up higher. "Damn gravity..." She mumbles to herself in annoyance.

"Gravity is just doing it's job, sweetcheeks!"

"If you ever call me that again, I will personally deliver you to KFC so they can fry your ass in oil and butter." She sneers in reply. Hawks chuckles, crouching down slightly, ruffling up his feathers before moving his wings, creating a gust of wind at the back of him. He feet lift off of the ground as he jumps up in the air, his wings doing a few big flaps to get up to the altitude Sachiko was comfortably staring at, his wing flaps reducing into smaller, more drawn out ones, basically treading the air as he stays in place.

"Got enough balance?"

"Somewhat."

"Don't worry, you will get used to having wings soon." He grins, "All you will be learning is defense, remember that, so you won't be fighting me or anything. Just simple dodging exercises to see how well you can maneuver in the air." He explains to her gruffly. Sachiko nods, chewing on the inside of her cheek, 'Dodging? I'm going to take an educated guess and say that he will be sending his feathers at me as projectiles, instead of him coming after me himself.' She thinks to herself.

"When you are dodging, I will put a handicap on you for the exercise. You can't use your flames to burn my feathers, actually, please don't try to, it takes a while to grow these things alright? Nor freezing them, they will snap in half-"

"Okay, okay. I get it. Don't hurt your precious wing feathers."

"Correct." Sachiko grins at him, making a mental note to herself. 'No frying the bird.'.

---

Sachiko flops down onto her brother's bed, puffing out her cheeks dramatically, her sides sore from dodging Hawks' quick attacks for the past hour and a half.

The students of 1-A won't be back for a couple of hours, leaving her to herself, although...

"Hey kiddo, why don't you go and have lunch with your friends?" Hawks had asked her, leaving her to furrow her brows up at him, "What? Why, I'm not allowed with other students outside of 1-A-"

"Oh come on! Lunch Rush has amazing food! Can't miss out on it!"

"How would you know? You didn't even go to UA!" Hawks stuck his tongue out at her, "Because I was way too skilled for UA~" He states egotistically in reply. Sachiko rolls her eyes at him.

'Why go to lunch when I am already back at the dorms... That is just unnecessary walking and awkwardness...' She sighs heavily, rolling over to lay on her back, staring at the ceiling, smiling inwardly at the sight of glowing stars her and her brother stuck to the ceiling a couple of days ago.

"Shoto! Stop moving!" She yelled down at him as she steadies herself, arms outstretched up to the ceiling, sitting on her twin's shoulders. The teenager chuckles, rolling up and down on his heels to bounce on the bed. "Todoroki Shoto!" She yells down at him again, biffing the back of his head with her hand.

She raises her left hand, staring at the small woven bracelet that made for her as a small gift.

"Since when did you know how to make jewelry?" Eijirou blushes as he is called out, scratching the back of his neck with a small embarrassed laugh. "Uhh... I wouldn't say I know how to make jewelry... The Internet helped me a lot." He confesses, thinking back to the many video tutorials he had watched just to figure out how to make one singular braid. And how many times he had to unwrap the whole thing and start again because of him spacing out and creating a new pattern or accidentally knotting the strings.

"You still made it." She tells him, a smile on her face that was genuine, sending his heart up the sky before plummeting back down and skipping a beat. 'So cute...' He thinks. She wraps her arms around him, giving him a hug of thanks that he has no problem returning, enjoying this peaceful time with her.

Heterochromatic eyes shut, letting her hand fall onto her stomach. 'The year is almost over... 8 months ago, things were so different...'

"Soy Sauce Ramen?!" Yells Elle in excitement, her eyes shining up at her brother who smiles down at her, patting the top of her head, "Three packs, so don't eat them all at once." Elle nods, her 14-year-old self turning around to toss the packets into the garbage bag before continuing the dive, jumping into the half-empty dumpster.

"Ay ay! Put gloves on before you touch- Elle!" He scolds her when she picks up a smooshed dead rat by the tail, unfazed by her older brother's scolding. "Rip rat."

"That's how you get the plague." He deadpans, shaking his head. Elle shrugs, not minding, tossing the dead rat over to him. Before it could reach him, he flicks his thumb, sending a small blue flame at it, letting it burst into flames. The smell of dead cooking rat entering their noses. Hardly noticeable amidst the smell that was already accompanying the back of the alleyway behind the 7-11.

"There isn't much today, Dabi..." Elle whispers disappointingly, her cheeks puffing out as she clicks her tongue.

"It's the middle of the week, I will come back during the weekend, alright?" She arches a brow at him as she absentmindedly moved trash around with her foot, "Why only you?"

"I'm leaving again for a couple of days, you have to stay back and hold the fort down until I get back."

"What are doing this time? Drug cartel?" Dabi sighs heavily, hearing the disappointment in her voice. "They are offering a lot of money, don't worry about me. This way, we can probably rent an apartment for a month." She blows a raspberry into the air, shaking her head, "You know that never works out. A landlord won't take us in because we look like two delinquents that don't shower, and will fuck their shit up." Elle informs him, brushing back a piece of her hair, feeling the dirt and grime under her fingernails.

"Never hurts to try. Come on, get out of the dumpster."

"Nah, it's quite comfy in here. I got everything I need, some broken beer bottles, an old porno magazine, oh is that a dildo-" Dabi grabs underneath her arms and picks her up and out of the dumpster, ignoring his little sister's whining in dismay.

"Did you touch it?!" He asks her, tone serious as he glowers down at the girl. She scoffs, "No, I didn't! I may be young but I am not dumb enough to touch a fucking dildo found in the dumpster-!" He biffs the back of her head, "Language!"

"Bullshit!" He sighs, his eyes rolling back into his head, 'What am I going to do with this girl...' He thinks to himself, releasing another breath before leaning down and grabbing the garbage bad, tying it off.

"Up the fire escape, El." He tells her, reminding her to always go first just in case they got jumped by thugs down below. They weren't ballsy enough to scale the rooftops of buildings like they were. "Fine..." She mumbles, hopping over some loose trash to get to the metal ladder.

She sits up on the bed, blinking away the tears that were beginning to form in her eyes. She remembers vividly how excited she used to get before they went on dumpster dives, the shit they would find, they exchanged smiles and laughter. Fuck, she never realized just how much she missed fighting to live.

How she would notice the day he would come back from a job, the grim look on his face, how he would let her eat before him, going weeks instead of days without food, just so she could eat. Just so she could survive.

'He would...' She begins to think before rubbing at her eye, wiping away a tear that was about to escape.

"Want me to go and have lunch.".

When is lunch? -Sachiko

Eijirou felt his phone vibrate in his pocket during Hero History, glancing down at his pocket. He glances back up at the teacher momentarily, to see if they were paying attention to what the students were doing, seeing their back facing towards them. He pulls out his phone stealthily, opening the message, his short red brow scrunching together. 'Lunch?'

Uhh, at 11:45, y? -Eijirou

He fixes his posture, resisting a soft yawn, he was tired already, he couldn't wait for the school day to be over. He hoped training wasn't too harsh on them...

Where? -Sachiko

Cafetaria??? -Eijirou

Where in building rockhead. -Sachiko

Just... What? Why does she need to know that? Is she planning a food heist or something?

Main floor, it would be to the right of the entrance. Mind telling me why you want to know? -Eijirou

He doesn't gain a reply, but he was glad not to have when he puts his phone away and glances up, seeing the teacher's eyes gloss over the students in his section, saving him from a scolding and/or his phone being confiscated for the rest of the day. He fumbles with his bottom lip, finding it quite odd how Sachiko had texted him during school hours- It was out of the ordinary for her. Unlike what others would perceive her to be- She was actually a pretty respectful person, if she knew you were busy, as in at work or at school, or doing any other activity where you couldn't have someone talking to you- She wouldn't reach out. She would wait until she knows that person is done and free to talk with.

So for her to be texting him during school hours- Yeah, really out of the ordinary.

And yet he didn't deny the smile on his face when he walked into the cafeteria later on and saw her sitting down at a table, Lunch Rush standing idly by her, sparking in conversation that was quite energetic, the chef animatedly speaking with her, moving his hands in front of his face as he acted out a story of a culinary school that he once attended, showing off himself mixing something in an imaginary bowl, and chopping up vegetables on a cutting board, all while speaking in dramatics to the teenager sitting before him, hanging onto his every word.

"Elsa!" Eijirou yelled out her nickname, barreling over towards her and leaving his friends in the dust behind him. He rounded around the table, throwing his arms around her from behind, snuggling his cheeks against the side of her head. She fought back a groan bubbling up at the back of her throat, the red head having interrupted Lunch Rush's story telling.

"I saw you this morning-"

"No you didn't!" He whined, puffing out his cheeks, increasing his grip around her, not caring about the 'Pda' being shown to the rest of the school as students began to walk into the cafeteria, beginning the lunch service.

"That is my notice to leave, enjoy today's lunch, Miss Todoroki! It was lovely speaking with you!" He told her, his voice upbeat and filled with glee as he took his leave to go and help with the lunch service. "Oh yeah! T-Thank you for talking to me!" Sachiko was cut off guard by Lunch Rush, her cheeks going pink. Unfortunately for her, Kaminari spotted it. "Aww, Our Sachiko is blushing!" Sachiko growled, going to stand up and chase after him with a murderous glint in her eye, the blond squeaking and running off, hiding behind a purple-haired fella, his tired eyes disinterestedly glancing over his shoulder at the blond. Eijirou holds her from lunging over the table, laughing softly in her ear at her annoyance.

"You are so cute when you are mad!"

"Eijirou, I will bite you." She threatened, earning more laughs from him.

Shoto is the next to enter the cafeteria, arriving fashionably late after a small hiccup in the hallway of tripping over his own two feet and the contents of his bag falling out, sliding comedically down the hallway out of his reach. He sighs, closing his eyes, 'Cold Soba...' He thinks in content before he hears sudden laughter erupting from one of the front tables nearest to the entrance, cracking his right eye open, then the other when he recognizes who was laughing, and see who it was.

The giggles of the youngest as she is tossed between the two eldest brothers, her hands clapping, shouting, "Again!" when it looked like she wasn't going to be tossed anymore. The ruffles of her blue dress swirling in the wind as she is tossed back and forth in the air, bright heterochromatic eyes, and the widest smile you would ever see on her, especially in that year of age five.

A tear slips down his cheek, the mirrored image of those young bright eyes witnessing the same smile, a smile he thought he would never see again in his life, was on her, her older self. She was home, after being without a home for so long, she finally found it, and was showing off her bright eyes, her wide smile as her boyfriend tickles the sides of her ribs, joining in her laughter.

'Touya...' He began, '...She found it, a place to belong.' He thinks to himself, holding back his tears as he thought of his brother, silently praying for him, that he had reached a good place to rest at, where there was an eternity of spending his life with their family, their true family. The five of them, running around and playing, their mother joining in on the fun with them, scooping her twins up into her arms and snuggling with them, turning around on her heel and letting herself fall onto the cushioned snow, snowflakes falling on her face and hair. True happiness.

A smile, and blue eyes... Oh, how wonderful reality that could be, all stemming from a dream. Coming to fruition after many prayers and tears.
