Chapter 62 - Tic-
Groaning loudly as the light shines in from the window is a rude awakening, and the sudden cold feeling on my right cheek was also quite rude. I hiss, pulling the blankets up over me. I hear a heavy sigh, before a small grumble that I couldn't make out any words from. "Sachiko, it's time to get up."
"No."
"It's Thursday, you have to get up. You have trained this morning." I groan again, cracking open my eyes, narrowing them into a glare at the wall.
"Nooo." I draw out, "My bed can't be that comfortable." My brother comments and I could practically feel him roll his eyes at me.
"It's not, I just don't want to go today." I feel the bed dip down, a hand finding my own, "Please get up, I don't want to get chewed out by Aizawa today." I furrow my brows, feeling a sudden wave of hurt wash over me. I instantly sit up, propping myself on my hands. I look at my twin, "What's wrong? Why are you hurting?" I ask him. He doesn't answer me, keeping quiet for a few seconds. "It's nothing. Now that you are awake, go, and get ready. No breakfast today, but there are some energy bars in the pantry. I will be waiting outside for you." Shoto goes to stand up from his bed and would have gotten away if I hadn't tightened my grip on his hand, my eyes burning into his heterochromatic mirror.
"Nuh-uh, don't do that to me. What's wrong, talk to me, or else it's going to bother me all day and leave me all distracted during training. Now, what's up?" I ask again, deepening my voice into a threatening tone. Shoto frowns at me, his eyes glossing over before shaking his head.
"Not now, come on get up. I will be waiting for you outside." He removes my grip on his hand, letting him stand up and leave the room. I continue to frown, feeling his emotions intertwine with my own. And here usually I was the one who had problems telling people what was wrong.
I stand up and get dressed in athletic clothing, knowing that I won't be doing anything with my quirk right away, plus my suit was at the school anyway.
I quickly grab some energy bars and a bottle of water before slipping on my shoes and running out of the dorm, reaching my twin's side, the two of us immediately beginning to make our way to the school.
Our fast pace and long strides were more in an effort to make sure Shoto got to class in time, not so much for me since technically I didn't give a rat's ass if I got there late or too early. I got there when I got there was how I viewed it.
Shoto and I parted ways, briefly watching him jog down the hallway, weaving through the students who were leisurely making their way to their own classrooms, leaving me alone for the moment.
I didn't recognize any faces, thankfully, leaving me to get to my training quicker, munching on one of the energy bars that I had grabbed. Quite a light breakfast. I didn't mind it too much.
'I wonder what he is hiding for me this time around...' I thought thoughtfully, blinking when I felt my phone vibrate like crazy in my bag. I let go of the energy bar, munching down on it with my teeth as I fished out my phone- pulling it out to see it was just my alarm to take my medication. I groan inwardly, fighting back rolling my eyes. 'I will take them when I get there.' I tell myself, tossing my phone back into my bag and continuing on my way.
I, unfortunately, had to pay a visit to the teacher's lounge before I could start my training. There was no set pro-hero who would teach me on any given day. It was more of who was available. "It's Thursday, it should be..." I open up the door to the lounge, catching sight of Midnight almost immediately upon entering- Then caught off guard when I saw the blond standing in there as well.
"What the fuck?" I state in surprise and confusion at the sight of Hawks. The birdman waves at me, "Hey kiddo! Been a minute." He greets me quite casually as if this was a regular occurrence.
"Language, Miss Sachiko. A kid your age shouldn't be using such vulgarity." Midnight tells me without a skipping beat, a smirk prominent on her lips.
"Please tell me he isn't here to-"
"Sadly he is." She sighs heavily, "The Principal is unable to make it today, he has other matters to attend to."
"Doing what? Participating in a rat race?" I ask with a look of annoyance, wanting to just turn around and head back to the dorm and eat my weight in energy bars for the rest of the day. Hawks chuckles at my attempt at a joke, his voice teasing as he says his own piece, "Oh come on! I can't be that bad!"
"You are too teenager for me." I deadpan, "How?! I'm literally 2-" Midnight clears her throat, gaining our attention before we start a bicker fest.
"Okay you two, that's enough. Principal Nezu wants you to start working on something new."
"Sounds like fun," I answer before she finishes, earning a small warning glare from the woman, "You are to work on aerial acrobatics. That's why Hawks is here."
"Why do I need to work on aerial acrobatics?! I'm not even working to become a hero!"
"I know, it's just for today. Next week you can talk to Principal Nezu about it." Midnight tells me with a frown on her face, hurt passing over her eyes before masking the emotion, "Finish eating and then come down to the training room in ten. Hawks, make sure she gets down there, I will be waiting for you two." Midnight walks past me, closing the door behind her. I finish off the energy bar angrily, walking over to the table and taking a seat on it. I pulled out the other energy bar, ripping open the packaging, and took a bite out of it, displaying more of my anger. Why the hell did I need to be trained by him of all people?
"Sorry that I'm not Aizawa or GunHead-"
"Don't start dude, not in the mood," I tell him, grabbing ahold of my pill case for my morning pills, feeling his eyes trained on my movements.
"I'm liking the new hairstyle on you, the long hair was a little too mainstream." I roll my eyes, sighing heavily as I grabbed the three pills, popping them into my mouth and taking a swig of my water to wash them down. "I did it to cut away dead ends. Speaking of, are you done being a dickhead spy?" He tenses up, his gaze going to the camera up above. "Why did you have to mention that so... So casually?"
"It's pretty common knowledge now among the other Pro-Heroes. I'm surprised to all hell that neither you nor the Commission was punished for it."
"Hey, I was just doing my job-"
"That caused a lot of lives, heh, and you all are wondering why I don't want to become a hero like my brother. Quite funny." Hawks releases a breath, most likely doing his best not to sucker punch me into the next reality.
"This information wasn't released to the media or the police-"
"Tsukauchi knows about it." His face flushes scarlet, "S-Since when?!"
"Since forever ago. I told him." I release, "But he has done nothing about it. I think he is planning to use it during his case against your boss, and the Commission in general. It would be really dumb to release it now, things can get easily twisted." I finish off my energy bar and downed the rest of the water contained in the plastic bottle, crushing it down with my hands, tossing it to Hawks as I jumped off of the table. "Please recycle that for me, can't have the earth dying on us while humanity crumbles." I walk away, leaving the red-winged man to stare after me dumbly.
---
Sachiko enters the training room, seeing dummies discard in the corner of the room, burned to all hell. She wrinkles her nose in disgust, "Seriously, it's been two weeks since I used those ones-"
"And the janitor has yet had time to come down here and grab them."
"Who? Mirio?" I question teasingly before getting whacked upside the head by the woman, "Don't joke about that, it's none of your business." I mock her behind her back with my hand, "None of your business dear sweet, Sachiko~ Only good girls can joke about someone losing their quirk- OW!" Sachiko growled at the feather that jabbed her right in the side, grabbing a hold of it before it could escape her vicinity, roasting it.
"That was rude." Mutters Hawks with a small sigh, his brows furrowing. "I thought we were going to be outside, not in a basement- Oh, Midnight I didn't realize that you wanted me to be your next-"
"Please don't finish that sentence, minor here, remember?" Sachiko gestures to herself.
"Yes, Hawks. Be professional here, please." Midnight emphasizes. Hawks' wings fluttering, a new idea to tease the woman coming to fruition. "Ah, so how about after work hours then-"
"Hawks!" The two shouted at him, scaring the hell out of him. "Okay, okay! I will stop!" He puts his hands up in defense. The two huff at his antics.
"The reason we aren't going outside yet is because she needs to warm up first. Hand to hand combat. No quirks involved whatsoever." Hawks blinks, glancing from Sachiko to Midnight then points to himself, "Against us?"
"Not today, she will be going against the AI Drones." Midnight pulls a remote out of her own ass, (literally out of thin air) and presses a button, five different drones appearing at the opposites ends of the room. "Sachiko has an untamed temper when it comes to fighting. It is much safer for her and ourselves to not fight us in hand to hand combat. This is why we have been keeping the support division busy by having them create these drones for her to use-"
"More like beat the shit out of." Sachiko grabs a ponytail off of her wrist, leaning her head back as she pulls the longer hairs out of her face, tying it off securely. Only a few short baby hairs remaining.
"Miss Sachiko, I thought AllMight had that talk with you about vulgar language already-"
"He did. I just chose to ignore it." She replies easily, shifting her head from side to side, successfully cracking her neck.
"To be honest, I am somewhat afraid of her." States Hawks in a whisper to Midnight a few moments later as they watch the girl flip over one of the drones, harshly slamming it down onto the metal ground.
"She may have only been attending these classes for a short time, but with her added experience of being trained underneath Endeavor and by her older brother, at this point, she is only polishing what she knows." Hawks frowns at the mention of Touya, feeling a raise of guilt hit him. He looks away from Midnight and to Sachiko, watching her form, how she guarded herself and yet used her assaults against the drone to her advantage.
"Touya did teach her really well." He mutters under his breath, glad to not gain a reply from Midnight.
Sachiko swoops down, her fists up to her face as she guards herself against an incoming blow. She huffs out tiredly, 'They could have at least made the armor slightly less defective.' She complains to herself, hating that the Support Class was good at making drones now. For the moment, she was glad that they didn't add anything like a sword or guns to them. Now that would be more of a pain, and honestly, Sachiko would probably just walk right out if she were to see a drone with a machine gun strapped to it.
"What is she taking?" Midnight blinks in confusion, looking down at Hawks, "What?"
"Medication? She took three pills before she came here."
"I'm not too sure. I know one is Cymbalta, which is for her anxiety and depression I believe. I'm not sure what the other two are." Hawks nods as he returns his gaze to Sachiko just in time to watch her hand harden in a thick layer of ice and punch right through the drone she was fighting against.
"Sachiko, I said no quirk!" Yelled Midnight, pressing the button to halt any movement from any of the remaining drones. Sachiko lets out a loud whine, "What do you want me to do? Break my fucking hand on titanium?!"
"You are to learn only how to evade and dodge, not to break-" Midnight stops herself, sighing heavily, pinching the bridge of her nose, "This girl is going to leave me with grey hairs..."
"Not my fault that the students decided to armor these guys up with one of the strongest metals in the world!" Sachiko states. Hawks grins in amusement, watching the interaction between the teacher and student. "Then you better write out a 5-page apology to the support class after today's training and hand it to them directly for destroying their hard work!" Midnight scolds her, earning a roll of her eyes from the Todoroki. "Make that fifteen words, 'I am terribly sorry for destroying your titanium armored drone, it looked at me funny.'." Hawks was ready to die from her sass. Then be resurrected, cause of resurrection, laughter. Hawks laughs, finding the situation quite funny.
"Shut up bird!"
"Nah, you are being funny! It's hard not to laugh!" Sachiko growls, ready to use her hand-to-hand combat skills to create fried chicken. Midnight walks over to Sachiko, grabbing a hold of her hand, telling her with her eyes to melt the ice. Sachiko reluctantly does, watching the woman check the girl's knuckles for any injuries, cuts, bruises, or even a small blemish, but came up empty.
"Go and see Recovery Girl. We will resume training afterward, Hawks, go with her and make sure she doesn't sneak off." Midnight states, giving Sachiko a knowing look. Sachiko lets out a small huff, her eyes rolling, "One time you walk away to pee, and everyone loses their minds!".
