Chapter 34 - Heroes On Ice
Ha, get it, like Disney on Ice-
SHOTO TODOROKI IS ELSA FIGHT ME
---
The last skate was created, Hagakure giggling as she jumped up and down excitedly on them, "Careful Hagakure." Muttered Shoto as his unknown sister stood up, cracking her fingers, rubbing them together, Shoto rose a brow at her, "Cold?"
"I will be fine once they reheat." She silently cursed herself in her head at how she worded that, but Shoto being Shoto didn't notice the way she worded it, only nodding before offering his hands, "I can increase my temperature to warm them up-"
"Hey Elle, you cold? Here." Eijirou got to her before he could, grabbing her hands, blowing hot air on them before creating soft friction, rubbing her hands between his. Elle's face heated up, dusting pink over her cheeks and tips of her ears. Shoto rose a small brow in surprise at how quick Eijirou was to swoop in when Elle needed warmth. It was a bit startling, and a tad confusing.
To the girls in the group however- They held a knowing eye, small smirks spreading across their faces (Hagakure's especially wide but no one could see). Uraraka recognized the look on Eijirou's face, faintly reminscing about how her look was when she was thinking of that person she had a crush on (No ship wars, I repeat, n o s h i p w a r s).
Tsuyu could see that Eijirou didn't just hold Elle on a pretty high pedestal, he adored her.
Hagakure was already thinking of their quirks combinations when they were to have kids ten years from now.
Shoto slowly inched away from the two, still dumbfounded and confused, but hey, at least now she had someone who was warming her hands up. Good enough for him.
"Todoroki you are really oblivious." Hagakure pointed out with a soft giggle. Shoto tilted his head, childlike confusion. "Huh?" Uraraka leant up to his height, cupping her hands around her mouth.
"Our red headed friend seems to have a little crush on Elle." She told him in a quiet tone so the two being spoken of wouldn't hear.
And as much as Uraraka thought she was quiet enough, sadly the only adult in their group had the senses of a bird, which included hearing and heard Uraraka. Hawks smiled, rubbing the side of his neck as he watched Elle and Eijirou speak to each other.
"I'm fine, they are just gonna get cold again anyway when we start to move." Elle muttered, moving her hands out from his, shoving them in the pockets of her purple sweatshirt.
"Maybe we can find gloves for you...?"
"Nah Rockhead, gloves won't work. I mean I could use my feet to shoot out the ice but I would rather shoot it out for longer range purposes..." Elle trailed off, glancing to Shoto, this would be the first time they would be using their quirks together again in the past 13 or so years. She could hardly recollect the last time she trained with him with their ice. Enji's major focus half the time was their flame side.
Maybe because he could teach them that side better? With their ice they would go to Mom when Enji wasn't looking, ask for advice, and she would grant it to them. But that stopped when she was sent away after burning Shoto, after that they did try to find out by asking Fuyumi and Natsuo, but they weren't as experienced with their own quirks like Mom was. Trial and error is what they had to learn by.
But they did eventually figure it out, the twins unknowingly switching to just primarily using their ice side. One doing it to spite their father, and the other doing it to hide who she was. There were tons of ice users in the city by Elle's recollection, but when it came to fire- there were fewer.
Besides, she couldn't bear to have dyed the white part of her hair instead of the red, it was one of the last things that reminded her that she wasn't just the daughter of a abusive monster, but she was the daughter of a strong woman who did her best for her kids until she couldn't take it anymore.
"Elle." Elle snapped out of her thoughts, Eijirou chuckling at her bewildeted expression, "Let's get going before the LOV starts something that can't be stopped." Elle sighed, removing her hands from their comfortable cocoon of warmth with a small nod. Frost covered her hands once more, rubbing her fingertips softly together.
"You are right... Alright Pro-Heroes in training and our only adult supervision! Let's get going!" The group nodded, lining up, walking on their ice skates carefully.
She approached Shoto's side, gesturing to the empty street in front of them. "Okay Todoroki, you will have to help in directing me. If there comes a time where we have to split off, where should we meet up?"
"The 7 Eleven on 41st Street- From there it is a straight shot to the rink." Shoto answered almost right away, the boy having been thinking about the different possibilities and outcomes. Elle nodded in agreement, softly muttering to herself, "Been awhile since I have been there..." '...Last time I was, was a year ago, we stopped going there because they stopped throwing out food items.'.
"Hawk, you got Electricuck?!" Elle shouted to Hawks, who nodded, having grabbed the blind and already was flying about 6 feet in the air, waiting for Elle's signal. He didn't want to leave the kids behind him in the dust, he knew they were strong but he was the professional here, better to stay as close by them as possible.
"Ready everyone? This is no different to skating on solid ice, that isn't appearing everytime you move forward- We can reach high speeds of cars in America, so watch yourself! Regulate how much force you are putting in in pushing yourself to go forward. Remember the proper and right way to stop or slow down is by turning sideways, your skates going slightly horizontal in a 90 degree angle, do not, and I repeat, do fucking not stop using full front, I am not hauling you to the dentists! I don't have any insurance!" Elle got a collective chuckle out of her words, the girl smirking in amusement, breathing in and out slowly, regulating her temperature, exersizing her body's natural airway of hot and cold, spreading the warmth through her body, turning it slowly to travel down to her hands specifically.
"Take the lead S- Todoroki!" Shoto nodded, shooting out his ice, the group pushing forward as Elle followed suit down the path, Shoto moving faster to get up front, paving the ice down for his classmates to skate along, Elle in the middle of the 1-A students, reinforcing the ice so there were no weak spots. She sincerely doubted it, but a small precaution.
Hawks followed after them in the air, actually have to up his speed to keep up with the group, watching the two twins tag team, when Shoto was feeling a slight fatigue or cramp in his hands, he would fall back and Elle would glide herself forward, taking her own intuition of her time of walking the city and her friend's advice on where to go to navigate down the empty streets. Hawks could hear the familiar siren for the emergency evacuation faintly in the background, letting him know that every civilian was mostly out of the area by now.
Elle drifted back again after a few minutes, her eyes moving to look at her friend's skates, monitoring if they needed to stop or not. But thanks to her reinforcement of ice, they were holding up.
She glanced down at her own feet, skating over a ridge in the ice, briefly seeing the tip of her skates. It wasn't thinning or melting away, that's good.
She looked to Hawks carrying Kaminari up in the air, the man keeping up with them but also hanging back a bit, like he had their back from the rear. His presence still unsettled her, but the usher of her mind as the group made a sudden turn, having to come to a abrupt stop, a few gasps filtering into the air.
"Shit..." She recognized the blue flames, staring at the destruction done to the buildings as she glided forward to the front of the group, staring dumbfounded at the destruction.
"Dabi was here." Izuku muttered, Iida looking to down the street, staring at the different colored flames that was engulfing a police cruiser.
"They must have came down this road, Hawks you said that Endeavor headed here before you?!" Elle shouted up the bird man, who was staring at his the destruction. There was... Fear in his eyes...
Elle faltered, her gaze returning to the scene, going back and forth between the spaces of the flames, realization dawning on her, breath hitching in fear.
"No... No.. No no no no shit fuck, you fucking idiot!" Elle cursed out, Eijirou frowning as he rested his hand on her back, "What's wrong?"
"He is fighting against Endeavor. Shit, shit he knows that he can't win that fight!" Elle went to run but Eijirou gripped ahold of her hood, stopping her from running.
"Calm down El, we have to keep going." Elle's body shook, clenching her jaw and bawling up her fists, tears were beginning to spring her eyes. 'Touya...'.
"Hey, hey!" Elle didn't even realize the frost on her fists were beginning to spread downward before Shoto grabbed her fists, his hands warming up to melt the ice. "We are gonna make sure nothing happens to either of them, okay? We have to keep moving." Shoto stated, words set in stone, eyes narrowed at her. He was verbally telling her that this wasn't the time to panic. Not the time to lose control of her quirk. Oh this definitely wasn't the time.
Elle breathed out deeply, nodding as Hawks spoke up. "We are going to scout ahead, I will turn around if I see them. Two flame quirks users with a guy with wings getting caught in the crossfire? Not ideal."
"I would rather not fall to my death as you become a BBQ above me." Kaminari commented, Hawks rolling his eyes, "If I were to become a BBQ- You would be the first to go, you are my shield."
"H-Hey!" Elle snickered softly, her form relaxing. She nodded to Shoto, telling him that she was okay now. Shoto left go of her hands and Eijirou wrapped his arms around her midsection, resting his chin on her shoulder, "Whatever happens, I'm here for you no matter what."
"We all are." She heard someone else state besides Eijirou. She chuckled to herself solemnly, tears were still brimming her eyes, threatening to fall as she rubbed Eijirou's arms that were around her, his warmth was comforting her slightly.
"Let's hope after this, it stays true.".
To Be continued
Shorter chapter but... Hehehehehe.
HAHAHAHA HAHAHAHA.
Brb while I go and have a crisis.
I apologize to anyone who has no clue what it is going to happen, which is all of you.
But also I'm going to cackle like an insane mad scientist villain.
But appreciate Eijirou comforting and supporting Elle, my babies. 😢
And Shoto having no idea that his classmate has a crush on his unknown sister.
It adorable.
He adorable.
Okay everyone deserves endless love and happiness. Except Endeavor, he can rot-
I still don't like Endeavor, even if in the manga he is trying to be a better Dad, but that doesn't excuse his past/present abuse towards his wife and children. I don't think a lot of the fandom realize how bad of a guy Endeavor is, like when everyone found out that Shoto was abused during his arc- Everyone was on the train to murder Endeavor. Figuratively and literally. But now, since he is actually trying to be a good father, everyone just seemed to instantly forgive him.
Welp guess what Endeavor sympathizers, that ain't gonna happen in this fanfiction. He will pay for what he did for 20+ years.
I'm going to answer my question from last chapter!
Believe it or not, but I actually first watched MHA in September of last year.
I was very late to the game but I knew about MHA for a while, I didn't want to jump on the train of shonen again and left to be dissapointed (Looking at you Black Clover, but I'm willing to give you another try)
And about a month later after finishing all of the chapters, I went through a phase of constantly making OCs and fanfiction drafts, Opposites was one of them!
But I could never figure out or find the urge to continue writing them, I kept filtering through them, changing things to see what worked until I stumbled upon myself writing a chapter.
And that chapter was, Elle meeting Eijirou~!
After seeing the comic strip, I knew I had to write something based off of it, back then I didn't realize that well, Elle would become an actual OC of mine until I had written about 2,000 words and then moved on to writing about 5 chapters that same night into the early mornings of 7 am-
But Opposites wasn't published until January of 2019!
That's a little backstory about this fanfiction so here is another question my dudes-
How long have you been writing/reading fanfiction?
Have an awesome night! -Golden
