-ARC 2- Chapter 40 - New Beginnings

Bump.

Bump.

Bump.

The nurse nodded, smiling to herself as she took off the stethoscope, her blue eyes practically glittering.

"Your heart is as healthy as can be, your recovery process is going by amazingly, soon enough you will be able to leave once a week on scheduled and supervised visits into the city." The nurse's smile slowly faded, standing up straight to grab her board, placing it on her patient's lap. "I know that... That you don't want to talk, that you don't want to see anybody right now, but please write down names of people you do want to see. I know that your family and friends miss you a whole lot. They want to see you, hun." Only silence and the sound of the heater was heard, no words coming out of the patient's mouth. The nurse nodded, sighing heavily before bowing her head respectfully and leaving the room, closing the door behind her.

3 months... Huh?

3 whole months.

She gripped the edges of the board, staring down at the piece of paper that was labelled 'guest list', different dates listed on the side of the paper down a singular row, blank spaces beside them for the names that she never caught herself writing down.

She didn't want to be visited. She didn't want anyone to see her.

She lifted her arms, staring at the deactivated quirk bracelets, about a month and a half in her stay at this hospital the staff was given permission to turn them off, but she still had to keep them on her wrists. They could be switched back on at anytime.

As for being strapped to her bed, it was no more because it was unneeded, she didn't make a move to run. She didn't feel like running. She just felt... Tired.

She wanted to sleep all day, and despite getting enough nutrition and sleep- She just felt so lethargic. The doctors tried prescribing her different medications but none of them boosted her energy, perhaps for a day but then she would just black out from exhaustion.

No one could figure out why, she didn't even know why. It had to be a medical condition but what medical condition?

She glanced to the breathing machine, then down at the breathing mask that rested beside her thigh. At least she wasn't in pain because of her asthma anymore. Her body had a readjustment period, basically for everything that it was neglected of for so long.

She grabbed the board, placing it on the moveable white desk beside her bed, getting up off of the mattress, her socks making contact with the white carpeting.

Carpet? She was still in the same hospital as before, except she was placed into a designated ward because of her condition, identity, and needed estimated stay, she was destined to be here for about 6 more months, 4 if she was unlucky.

She moved onto her computer desk, sitting down with her ankles crossed underneath the stiff chair (she would prefer if it was swivel like how Katsuki had in his room). She moved the mouse, watching the screen come out of it's black screen, the last article she was reading on displaying, along with the many tabs she had inevitably left open.

Her time on this computer was restricted, there were certain keywords she couldn't search up or see, blocked videos, media sites, tv shows, movies, sites, etc. She had only had it for a month, it was sent to her by someone anonymous, but the signature that was on a piece of paper was recognized as her older sister's- along with a heart which was cheesy.

There was nothing else written on the note for her to read, she could only guess Fuyumi didn't know what to write to her. After all her own little sister didn't want her nor her other two siblings to come and visit her.

The first time they came to see her, the half n' half girl flatly denied to them seeing her. They sadly agreed to it, opting that she just needed more time. But with every visit- With every denial of seeing her- It dampened their spirits on seeing her again.

That went for anyone else, even denied speaking to any of the detectives (including Tsukauchi) with her. She barely spoke to her nurses and doctors, they have told them their names but she didn't feel like remembering them. She just felt so drained of everything.

Now she just spent her day withering away in this room, waiting for the next nurse to come in and give her whatever meal it was, making sure she ate every bite before leaving, coming in for tests and checkups and whatnot. Repeat that about ten thousand times and you get sick of it real quick.

The only good thing about the constant knowing of the schedule was that she did have a schedule, she knew what she was going to do that day. What was going to happen.

Her fingers tapped at the keyboard, watching the auto fill show up before moving the mouse and clicking on it, scrolling down the search results, searching for one of the articles that she actually enjoyed the writing of if it was by a certain journalist. Yes, she is one of those people now.

With a click and a small fleeting glance to her left out the window, seeing her reflection for a moment, the growing out red roots blending in with her dyed black hair, some strands having trespassed onto the white side of her hair. She wanted to dye it so badly. A small scowl appearing on her face at the crimson, blearily blinking away from the reflection to stare at her computer screen.

---

The dyed red head scratched at the back of his head, fumbling his pen in between his lips as he stared down at the history booklet, gaze moving from right to left (people in Japan read from right to left), taking in all of the information he could, his best friend laying on his bed with his own booklets, notes sprawled around him. They were studying for their finals before Christmas break, Katsuki was deathly quiet today, his focus solely on the books he was reading from, his gaze shifting back and forth between them and his notes.

The red head sitting at his desk wasn't able to focus anymore, his head softly lolling back and forth, sleepy from the extra training he was getting from FatGum.

But- After the first month of finding out who Elle was. Truly was. Things seemed to quiet down and revert back to normal, the LOV seemed to have gone into hiding as none of the members were ever spotted on the streets or for any crimes. It was like they just... Vanished.

They still had one member in  police custody, but that was before this whole shitshow happened to them.

Eijirou flipped his booklet shut, pushing it off to his side so he can rest his arms on the table and lean his head against them, puffing out a bit of air.

"What's up with you all of the sudden?" Katsuki muttered, softly glancing to his friend.

"Can't focus... It's been three months since I have talked to her, she never replies to my letters but I know that she received them. Just- Why can't she ever reply to me?! I want to know that she is doing okay, and that she can confide in me, no matter what!" Eijirou rubbed at his face in frustration, glaring down at his hands.

"She needs fucking time, Kiri. From what half n' half bastard said- She doesn't even answer to him or let their siblings see her. The police haven't been able to get through to her either." Katsuki pointedly stated, not removing his eyes off of the words on the page.

"A couple of months ago you clearly stated that you didn't like nor trust her, so what changed?!"

"Finding out that she and Dabi were Todorokis, that she was halfies' twin sister, that what she did since coming into our lives by accident was to protect herself." Katsuki's tone softened, sighing heavily as he looked up, staring at his best friend, "Elle is trying her damn best to feel normal again, after everything she has been through, I can only imagine her mental state. She will come around when she is ready, Shitty Hair. Give her that time or else she won't ever be back.".

-

"Yeah I know, put the washer on delicates for the- Ah Shoto! My main man, there is apple juice in the fridge I just picked up-" Shoto ignored his brother, moving to the pantry and opening it, grabbing a bag of pretzel sticks before retreating out of the kitchen again.

Natsuo frowned, his brows creasing together in worry, "Ah sorry, Fuyu. Shoto was just here- Yeah he came to get a snack before dinner... No not an unhealthy snack. Pretzel sticks. Not the ones dipped in chocolate... Okay, I will see you then, have a good day at work." Natsuo ended the call, resting his phone on the counter as he looked around the kitchen, the house unnervingly quiet.

Shoto had holed himself in his room, but wasn't being unproductive in there, he still occasionally went to school when he needed to and when he did miss days his classmates would come and visit him (the first couple of times it was odd to them since they never had anyone over as kids or as adults when Enji was still around) this whole period of time since the reveal of the two Todorokis still being around hit them square in the face with no apologies. And the one that they could see refused to see them. It dampened their spirits. Heavily.

Fuyumi and Natsuo couldn't even see their little sister face to face, they had to watch the video that was leaked online by an anonymous source on what happened that day just to see their big brother fight their father, and soon after their little sister. The first time they saw them, and knew who they were (regarding Touya) it was an emotional moment, and it broke them.

They couldn't help them, they could only sit and watch it afterwards. They were called in for questioning, they gave them everything they could regarding Enji's abuse and childhood neglect he placed onto them, but without their little sister's account, they could only hold him in their custody until Sachiko would say anything about it. Because they needed all of their accounts.

They were the center of the media's attention, but it did inevitably die down after the first few weeks or so.

Natsuo... Didn't know what to do with himself, he felt so lost, like there was something for him to do but he couldn't figure out what or how to do it to help his family. It was getting increasingly harder everyday to keep his act up, that he knew exactly what to do, that everything at home was fine when his friends from college would ask him about he was doing, how things were at home now.

He just... Wanted proper guidance, and hell believe it or not when Enji was trying in the last few months to be a father he did give some advice when it came to exams, sure it was in a very nonchalant and ghost sort of way but at least he tried and now- He was finally going to pay for what he did to them, to all of them.

He couldn't... Confide in anyone else. He wished he could confide in his other parent but...

She still didn't know that the children they told her were gone, were back again. Well one of them anyways.

Shoto stared at his phone screen, sitting on his bed with a pillow held to his chest, resting his chin on top of it as he watched the group chat of 1-A spurry with life, his friends' messages going so fast he could barely keep up with all of the different conversation that flew by, it felt like he was watching different tv shows all at the same time or was experiencing a case of being scatterbrained like Kaminari.

There was a bunch of memes sent into the group chat all at once, two or three of his classmates at war with each other on who could send the most memes the fastest without there being any duplicates. Whoever sent the first duplicate lost and so on and so forth. It was mildly entertaining but he could feel his eyes growing tired from trying to keep up with the pictures on screen.

Another grace period came to be after a few moments of this, the boy not knowing who won the battle this time around. He glanced to the corner of his screen, check in the time. They would be going back to class soon, then the group chat will be silent again for a couple of hours with a few texts here and there.

He didn't get to dwell on the time for too long when his phone began to ring, the name popping up.

He answered it, bringing it up to his ear.

"Hey Todoroki! Sorry for calling you without telling you first, I-I know that you p-prefer a warning before someone calls you... But um, I wanted to check in on you, I saw that you were active but you weren't saying anything in the groupchat." Izuku voice came through the phone, the half-ice boy sighing to himself, shaking his head. "I'm doing fine, Midoriya. I have no clue how to respond to what they were sending each other."

"Yeah, I guess so. They just blur all together and then it's done and over with. But, are you sure you are doing okay? You haven't replied to my texts in a couple of days, you are worrying me."

"I'm okay just- Focusing on other things right now. I apologize for worrying you."

"You know that you can talk to me, right? I'm always here if you want to talk. O-Oh it doesn't have to be me if that's what you are worrying about, all of us are willing to listen to you!"

"I will be fine."

"Okay... Umm... When will be you be at school next?"

"Tuesday, I can't miss that day, AllMight is teaching that day." He could audibly hear his friend hold back a small 'awe', the admiration the two shared for the man helped keep conversation going between them when things got quiet or awkward.

A few more minutes passed before Izuku had to get back to class, the group chat going silent before Shoto locked his phone and sat it down beside him.

Despite how he felt in that moment, he knew that he got pretty damn lucky to be stuck with the class he was in for the rest of school days. It was settling in that they were to be second years soon, they were known as the unforgettable class 1-A... He wondered how that shift in change would be.

He wasn't ready for the freshmen, that was for sure.

---

Conversations passed by the detective's ears, his quirk flaring and then unflaring when he would detect lies, they weren't big lies, they were on the lines of, 'wow you have lost so much weight!' Or, 'I love that (article of clothing) on you!' or, 'I love you.' And etc.

Just, little white lies. After the fiasco he had to deal with months prior, he could never look at that term the same again, especially by who used it and how it was used.

A case was temporarily shut, but a cold case of two missing children was reopened. It flopped back and forth, and with radio silence on one end, it made things difficult.

Sansa placed down Tsukauchi's coffee in front of him on the desk, taking his own seat across from him, sipping on his own coffee (that may contain some alcohol).

"If you keep frowning like that you are going to be a ugly grandpa. Do you really want to have your grandkids suffer by looking at you?"

"Haha, very funny." Tsukauchi muttered, hearing his 'friend' snort.

"You are much gloomier today, despite solving a double homicide that turned out to be a triple suicide and then just three drunks with one drunk making all three invisible-"

"If you don't shut up, you are going to give me a headache, or a migraine. Yeah give me a migraine so I can pass out and not suffer the repercussions of sleeping on the job."

"Repercussions? Pffff, I sleep all the damn time and I never get caught!"

"Because no one wants to wake up the man with a cat head that will rip out their eyes for waking him up."

"Touche.".

"How is our little miss princess of all things ice doing anyway?"

"Still not talking, but I did get the results of her medical test from this morning. Everything is going good for her, a few months and she will be able to leave the hospital on scheduled visits and with a mentor. She is moving up in the world."

"If it weren't for that video, I would still be loss on what the hell happened when I was out." Sansa muttered, reminding himself and his colleague of the time their cruiser was thrown into a brick wall of a random building, Sansa being knocked out cold and then Tsukauchi being saved by the same man that was arrested the same day. His life just had a odd period of ironic moments three months ago.

The video, that everyone seemed to speak about and recollect of their first time seeing it was a video taken by a anonymous bystander on the scene during the two fights between Enji, Dabi the Villain, and then Elle. Which they were revealed to be Touya and Sachiko Todoroki, by Elle herself after displaying her actual quirk and words shouted at Enji.

After that, Enji was a smart man and said nothing to them, after a few hours of being interrogated he asked to see his lawyer, and he had been in police custody ever since, well secluded house arrest but not at his actual home, somewhere else where the media could not find him.

The original video was deleted, but never actually deleted from the internet as many others had downloaded it and shoved it out for the entire world to see, over and over again, it seemed every time they managed to take one video down, two more would pop up. The process kept repeating. By that time, they gave up trying to shut it down. They were only wasting time.

Sachiko was the last person to speak to, but she was refusing to speak to anyone, including her own family, doctors, nurses, friends, etc. It was becoming such a bother that on many accounts the chief almost found himself breaking down the door to get to the elevators at the hospital to go up to her room and make her talk. But they couldn't because that would be against protocol, especially since she was technically a victim.

They had to wait for her to come around, which drawn nearer to when they couldn't hold Enji in their custody anymore. By time she did come around, they would have to go through the process again just to get him back into police custody to then hold a trial.

Tsukauchi needed a nap. A serious nap where he would just sleep for a month straight.

"So basically a coma?" Sansa had replied out of the blue, Tsukauchi glaring at the cat man, chugging his coffee, he didn't realize he said that outloud.

"A coma sounds nice."

To Be continued

Tsukauchi is a whole mood, but so is Sansa.

Thank you all for the lovely comments I received from last chapter! I'm glad to know that you all enjoyed Arc 1 of Opposites!

So there was quite a big timeskip, of 3 months after the events at the outside skating rink, after Touya is no longer on this earth. Which by the way, slight manga spoiler but apparently Touya is actually younger than Natsuo??? Because Natsuo was referred to as the eldest brother from what I saw from an article. So that really shot down my Dabi being Touya theory heart. ALSO, I never realized this before but in the manga Touya has white hair, and in the anime red hair.

Hirokoshi, Studio Bones, STOP HURTING ME HEART.

Unless you are very much aware of the theory, since it's pretty freaking popular so you are all just throwing curve balls at us like Mineta to get our attention off of the theory, so when the time does come for the 'big reveal' where I know MHA Twitter is just going to go, 'We been knew', everyone will scramble more than usual, causing a small flare of panic and views and traffic to come to the show and manga.

It is very common nowadays, I have even done it. And I still continue to do it.

Next chapter is going to be more about Elle and her thoughts about her being stuck in the hospital.

We saw the two bros, Pomeranian and Rock, during homework, Eijirou feeling at a lost on what to do in order to help Elle and show more of his support for her.

We skip to Shoto, see what he is doing. He is still a student, just not attending classes as much anymore, but has gotten inevitably closer to Izuku.

Throughout the chapter each event is happening at a different point in time. With Katsuki and Eijirou, their conversation is happening the night before we see Elle, Shoto's part is happening during Elle's part.

The conversation with Tsukauchi and Sansa is happening at the early hours of the morning, when they are just coming in for work.

It's going to be a bit more of jumping around like this, but I will try to make it clear in terms of times on where each event is happening.

Thank you all for reading and I will see you all tomorrow! As always comments are appreciated on your thoughts! -Golden
