Chapter 7

Working on multiple stories guys, sorry.

---

It's dark now, the sun setting and the people of the town started to gather. I'm still uncomfortable of the change of things, need to believe in some things that I grew up hating. It's getting better over the past weeks, I can't quite hate them, if I do what would Alpha think. I am hoping not some sort of person who betrayed her promise. She helped out a lot these past weeks, but yet she's gone. I know she must go to Russia for personal business but why not take someone with her. Those men a couple days ago can harm her.

But then again, she can handle herself, she is a Russian after all. I wonder at times where she came from or how she was found here, but it's not my right to ask such personal things to the Alpha now. I got ready for the birthday of our Alpha and the respect of Russia. I didn't wear a dress but casual clothing, so did Zee. He told me a couple hours ago it was mandatory to dress properly. I thanked him for that since I have nothing nice to wear.

This past couple days I grew fond of Zee even though he is hidden from the world. I didn't mind, I liked him as a friend. Xenia on the other hand is different, something is off from her. She doesn't scream werewolf or alpha. She screamed more I'm human. I couldn't judge. No one in the pack has ever saw her shift before, not even Zee. I always wondered about that. We can all agree that she is a werewolf but cannot shift? It's unheard of. Not natural of our kind. I would ask, but then again we are talking about Xenia. The Russian Alpha of this pack, she can be scary if she wants to be.

"Tally! I can hear the music already! We must head into town quickly so stop mopping around will yea?" Zee robotic voice yelled.

Shaking my head at his mother commands, I yelled back. "Alright mother dear! I am coming!" I yelled grabbing my things like my phone.

He was standing at the door way tapping his foot against the floor. Lucky us there is no air conditioner so meaning so more cold house. He opened up the door, we both exit at the same time. "We're walking?" I asked.

He kind a just looked down at the ground with a head tilt, "It's a thing I like to do when Xenia is not around. When we were kids we walk to the festival." He admits.

I thought it was cute, so I smiled. We both walked in silence. Until I spoke. "Can Alpha really control the animals around here?" I asked.

He just looked up like I was one weird person, "Of course not, she just tells them if they can. They have the choice to disobey her though." He explained. I just nod my head as I looked at the dirt pavement to the dark forest. The stars are finally coming to clear view and the moon was bright enough to light our path. "Why you ask"

Kicking a rock with a shrug, "Never saw it before." I admit. I looked around feeling the chills of someone watching me, but I brushed it off as it was nothing. I didn't want him to worry, so I smiled. "My ex Alpha never had control like that. It's strange to see it." I thought. The other pack was always about war and battle against this pack I am now in. Knowing me, and if I was in the pack again, I would of agree to the war. I sighed, but now I can't see it. Xenia is powerful but can she weak on the battle field. Many people here admire her but I can see in their eyes they want war, and she's not allowing it.

"You have your thinking face on, what's wrong puppy?" Zee asked looking down at me.

I looked to the side slightly and sighed, "I am worried for Xenia, I can see in the other pack members eyes they want war." I admit.

Zee didn't tense or showed anything he just simply said, "We know."

I looked at him at shock, they know but they won't do anything about it? It doesn't make any sense, why not do something about it to stop it. "Why stop it?" I asked him.

He sighed, "We tried, before you came in Xenia was dealing with it. They wanted her out because she didn't want to fight."

I nod my head, we were almost there. I looked to see there was tables set on the sidewalks with food stands, but one caught my eye. A small old lady sitting at the booth with no one around her. I looked at her confused, so I approached her. She looked up with her wrinkled face. "Ah! You must be new!" She beamed. I smiled down at her with happiness.

"Why are you not enjoying the rest of the pack. It's November and I'll think Alpha Xenia wouldn't want you to be here alone." I commented.

Zee stood by watching, his hands behind his back and his body slightly tilted. He's proud just by his stance. "You act like a Luna, ah Alpha Xenia could marry you any day and I would be a proud." She smiled.

I looked down with a blush, "Thank you," I bowed my head in respect, "But I am no Luna."

She frowned, she placed her hands together on the desk looking straight at me. "Xenia said the same thing, ye know?" She informed, "She was a lost child, such a sad child she was. No one really liked her, even now too. She saw love, she saw respect." She told me with a smile. She stood up I noticed she didn't have a leg and the other was wrapped in cloth.

I gasp having my hands covering my moth, "What happen?" I asked cautiously.

"Wolf bane I'll tell yea. The other wolves here don't go near me, afraid to touch me." She said as she sat back down.

I took her hand, "What a rude pack," I growled.

She placed her hand up top of mine, and with her genuine smile. "Xenia is a brave Alpha but like every person she's hurt, she's only a person. Many people here think she doesn't have feelings." She informed me once again but with a sad tone. "She took care of me, including Zee. He had too, but he was kind," She said.

I looked at her hands to see the wrinkles and the loose skin, her hands felt so rough against mine. I gulped, I want to cry but at the same time I can't. My emotions were confused with anger and sadness. "I'm sorry, I don't know what to do." I almost cried as I put my head against her palm that is wrapped around my own. I took shakily breaths, I couldn't do anything but apologize for her torture. "I'm sorry, elder."

She put her hand against my shoulder, I looked up to see her with a kind smile once more. "Xenia will be proud of you Tally, we all know your name." She looked down sadly, "Just go have fun."

I bowed my head, I took a couple steps back. I turned around to see Zee with his arms behind his back, rocking back and forth on his heels. I folded my arms in front of him, "What?"

He spun around, shrugging his shoulder he replied, "Nothing Luna Tally who is still a puppy." He teased.

I pointed at him as I marched at him, "You take that back!" Yelling as he just laughed walking away.

That night, many of the wolves were drunk and dancing around the fire that was in the middle of the street. Zee and I were just watching them as people cheered and the band played up beat music. Soon a slow dance came on, it's the final song of the night apparently. The drunkards were dragged away by their sober friends, we laughed as Zee took my hand. My heart skipped a beat by the sudden action. Is he my mate? I blushed at the thought. We went near the fire, feeling the warmth hugging our skin.

We slowed dance the night away, I felt warm in his arms but not safe. In Xenia arms, I felt warm and safe. I smiled as I remember her smile; I wanted to cry but not in front of Zee. He done well to me, but I don't ever deserve it. I do deserve Xenia do, she helps me. I backed away from Zee and he did the same when the song had ended. I couldn't tell if he was smiling. The people cheered as we all smiled.

As we walked home that night, it was silent. "She's coming home tomorrow." My head perk up at his words.

I stopped, frozen in place. She comes home tomorrow. I smiled as I lift up my head to the sky, what to do then. "Tomorrow."

Zee laughed, "Yes, tomorrow! The 4th," He chuckled.

I folded my arms against my chest, "I thought today was the 2nd." I argued back at him.

He shook his head slightly, his helmet moving alongside it. "Yes that was an hour ago, today is the 3rd. Xenia birthday has past." He laughed.

I have to wait for her once more. The next day came quickly of doing nothing. Zee went on his bike and rode around town, not wanting Xenia coming home from a mess that we have created. I stayed home in my room, looking out of my window. I just wanted to sleep but I didn't want to be asleep when she comes home. Is this the feeling of the missing Alpha whenever they go away? A dread, sadness deep within that people can't explain. It's horrifying. I heard a screaming, I looked out the window more closely to see Zee waving his wands as he rode on his bike.

He yelled mumbled words I am guessing but then fell out of his bike. Running down to see what was the ruckus about when I saw a black car behind him. He coughed pointing behind me, I froze. I saw steps exiting the car and the hair I was so familiar with.

Xenia is back home, where she belongs. I waited until she faced me, she tapped on the car as it turned around. Zee was already up coughing, I took a step forward. When she turned around she smiled at me, I ran. I ran as fast as I could. I didn't care if Zee was watching I missed her. I hugged her, tighten my grip around her neck, nuzzling into her wanting to be with her. She froze in place as she inhaled a large breath of air. Slowly she wrapped around my torso as she places her head on my neck almost in a crying breaths. She misses me too. "I'm sorry." She whispered but only I can hear. She hugs tighter, "I'm sorry." She yelled bringing me closer until I couldn't breathe.

When I took a step back I saw her. Her eyes full of fear and sadness. In tears as she brings her hand to my cheeks. "Why didn't you call?" I asked looking for an answer in her eyes.

Her face broke, "I had a nightmare. I failed you." She cried out to me, I froze. "The pack was slaughtered, you and Zee died near me. I couldn't protect you." She looked at me, searching for any sign of blood or bruises.

I placed my hand over hers as I leaned into her touch, "I'm sorry."

She stared at me, "Don't ever be sorry. Don't you dare say that, do you understand? I should be sorry." She hugged me, pulling me into her arms. This was more gentle, loving, a sorry hug. I stood frozen. She was worried for all of us. Maybe that's why she only stays a day or two up there, no more or less. She backed away, not looking my way anymore. "Love always wins," she says her favorite quote. She looked up at me with soft eyes, gently tracing my cheek to my chin. She studied me like it would be the last time she would ever see me. I know that isn't true, she's going to stay by our side until she dies, until we all die.

I sighed, we all headed inside while Xenia was scolding at Zee for not being careful on the bike. I smiled as I made some tradition American food, or so what my mother calls it. I should see if she is still alright in the hospital. Right on time Xenia came right in, peeking her head out the door frame. "Is that food I smell?" She asked. I nod my head as she cheered raising her hands upwards. "You hear Zee! Tally is making food for us." She yelled like a child.

Shaking my head, I served the plates. As the two rushed to the dining room, they sat. Of course Xenia sat at the end of the table, taking her rightful place as Alpha. She sat arguing to Zee on something, maybe a bet or some sort. I shook my head as I served them. Zee and I waited patiently until she took the first bite. Then it was the rush, I backed up to see them both chewing the food at rapid speeds.

At last it was tie and they were arguing of who won. I shook my head as I looked at them both longingly. "Puppy who won?" Zee asked banging his hands on the table. I saw his mouth move just a little with the smirk, his face was covered still by his helmet.

Sighing, I answered. "I won." I picked up my empty plate taking both the Alpha and Beta plates. They both folded their arms but laughed. Zee stood up, excusing himself to leave. He had to do night watch apparently. Xenia though sat at the table having her hands folded.

"I have a question for you Tally." She said in a serious matter. This is the Xenia I know. The Alpha Xenia.

I washed the final dish as I spoke. "What is it?" I asked.

She got up and gave a small shy smile, "Would you like to come with me on a drive?" She asked looking up at me for an answer.

I smiled down at her, and gave her a soft nod, "Where too?"

She smiled widely as she inhale her breath, "It's a surprise." She smiled at me.

In her eyes, it was caring and love. I don't know what kind of love but isn't like the stories where the man would yell out mine! This love is the love of freedom, the love you can choose to denied. A love of longing and hope. What I read in the book of the Alpha is stern and strict, but her she's caring as well understanding. Why won't anyone love her like that? Is there is something she is hiding? I want her to tell me but all I can do is smile when she walked off.
