Chapter 6
I visited my mother in the hospital as she just stood silent, she hasn't spoken since we came to the pack. She would only speak to Xenia and how I know when I leave she would come. I sat with my mom as Xenia slumped down on the chair next to my mom on the other side. We stood silent until my mother spoke, "Alpha Xenia, are you okay?"
Xenia tensed, looking down as she nods her head. "I guess." She spoke. I also noticed she worn a suit and tie, I haven't seen a girl in a suit but she looked rather beautiful. Her hair comb nicely unlike the other times it's all the over the place. It suited her, "I was hoping someone else," She looked over at me, "but I guess it would do. We do need a Luna or our pack won't function." I tensed. I thought she was straight.
"You're not straight?" I asked looking over at her.
She shook her head, "I'm pan-sexual. I really don't care anymore." She said looking down at the ground. "It's useless anyway." She added as she just stood up giving a rose to my mom.
I felt my stomach tighten, not out of disgust but more concerned. She usually is positive about everything but now its not there. "You should go, it's our ceremony of the pack."
That's right it's been a week since I talked to Zee, I nod my head so I headed to my room as I got out a black silk dress. As I got ready Zee knocked, I looked to see him in his suit with the helmet again but it suited his suit. I think he made sure of that. I smiled as he was my date for tonight. I smiled towards him, as we exited the house I noticed a girl who had her arms around Xenia's. I looked away as I smiled forward. She was blank; she didn't show emotion but instead a straight forward.
As we arrived Xenia just arrived as she just quickly went to the stage. She plastered a fake smile as she did some speeches. She hooked her arm around the girl as she sighed, but what caught my attention was a knife in the hands of the girl. I nudge Zee as he looked at the knife as well. I shifted into my brown wolf as I knocked over the woman. People gasped and whispered. The knife slid away from her grasp as I pinned her down. Xenia was about to yell but noticed the knife. "Arrest her." She announced as officers came to take her away. She cursed under her breath then looking at me with a smile and mouthed a thank you. She faced the crowd, "Well," She didn't know what to say so she took out her necklace. "I don't what to say." She laughed, some people giggled as well. Some people are still in shock.
"What about a Luna? If you don't get a Luna soon Zee will take over! We are done waiting for you 'love' one!" One yelled. I growled at him, but he backed down.
Xenia pushed me back then looking down at the man, "I know. Just give me a while," She said.
"Also November 2 is coming! Your birthday and your turning 19! We need a Luna!" Another yelled. Xenia stood strong as Zee came out with a knife standing protectively in front of Xenia.
"Let her have the Alpha title for a year." Zee announced and some whispered. "Then I'll take over." He said confidently but I knew he was in pain of knowing something that we all don't.
Xenia didn't say anything at first but something changed and she started to relaxed before she spooked, "I won't fail you." She spoke with truth and I smiled up at her. She looked over at me extending her hand over to me, "This is our newest pack members." She announced as people growled and some nod in approval. "She was kicked out." She stated. "Welcome Tally Lane and Ms. Lane to our pack. You may stay with me for the time being, there is no sale up at the moment so don't worry. Zee won't mind as well." She smiled at me with her white teeth showing.
I blushed looking down as people smirked knowing my little blush, but Xenia didn't see it so I am thankful. After the meet and greet was over she took us too that cold house of hers. As my mother and I followed her to the house, Xenia looks back at us regularly. I bumped into my mom feeling her cold skin against mine warm. "Mom?" I asked but then she collapse but didn't hit the floor but Xenia did. She hit herself on a tree making a groan. Running to them, I took a hold of my mom as I put her around my back, Xenia laid there. "Alpha? Do you need help?"
"Go home." She grunted as she tries to get up. That's right Alpha is job is too but their pack member before themselves.
"I can call Zee." I offered, but she just gave me a glare. I nod my hand as I dragged my mom to her house. I went into a room, that I didn't care who's, and laid my mom there. They let my mother come to the hall for the introduction; she supposed to go back to the hospital tomorrow. I called up Zee but there was no answer. I called Xenia but no avail. I tucked my only family, I called up the hospital.
"Hello, my mom fainted." I told her trying to keep calm but something inside stirred.
"Where are you?" She asked.
I bit my bottom lip, "At Xenia um." I stopped trying to figure out her last name, I laughed. "I don't know her last name."
"The Alpha house? You could have just said that, and no one knows her last name by the way." She said as she hanged up the phone. I held onto my mother hand as I cried. Everything is wrong, everyone I know, the people I love get hurt, they hurt me. I fell asleep at the thought.
The next morning I woke up on the Alpha's bed tucked in, I shoved the cover away smelling coffee. For some reason the house wasn't cold but warm. I walked down the stairs to see Zee cooking some food, hearing the knife chop against the board made me shrink. "No need to close yourself, Xenia just left." He announced. He flinched almost cutting this hand noticing he flew his hand away from the cutting board.
I nod my head. I yawned as I sat at the table resting my hand on my palm. He cooked as he served me some bacon and eggs. "Smells good Zee," I complement his food.
He laughed that sounds genuine, "Thank you, Tal." As he served himself, he sat across from lifting up his helmet just a bit, "I forgot you're here," He said as his lips moved just a bit, he smirked. I wasn't use to looking at his actual face so I looked away, I guess for privacy reason that I did. "Xenia is leaving tonight, so if you want to say your goodbye I suggest you do it today." He shrugged his shoulders. I looked up at him about to speak, "We won't have contact to her about a good week or so, that's why I am saying do it now."
I nod my head over at him, "Where is she actually?" I asked
He covered himself with the helmet as he took both of our plates to the sink; I just sat there messing with my long brown hair. I wonder why Xenia likes her short silver hair, I wonder if it's even dyed. "She's at the hospital with your mom. For some reason she had something to say to her." He looked down as he washed. My poor mother, I would kill the pack. I swear.
"I have a couple more questions before I leave. Is Xenia hair dyed?" I asked.
He laughed, like laughed falling on the floor laugh. I tilt my head as he just banged on the floor laughing, "It's not dyed." He laughed again.
I felt embarrassed now that I covered my face with my hair. "Oh. Um. Where is she?" I asked looking up at him.
He stood there for a bit shifting his weight, "At the hospital, duh." He laughed.
I banged my head against the table, what now? "I feel stupid." I whined at him.
He chuckled, "Whatever pleases you."
I left the house about 10 minutes ago heading over to the hospital. While I did I looked at the trees and plants. I stopped my walk as I traveled into the woods smelling all the different smells. I turned into my wolf pouncing around the area. I turned my head around to see a deer. It was majestic. I stared at it, the muscles and the huffing. I stared at it, and we both looked at each other. It was scene. The trees around me smelled like wet grass with ice. I felt the wind on my fur, how come I never appreciated this? I looked around to see the sun shining down reflecting the green leaves from the trees. The air was crisp; I looked back at the deer that turned their back on me. I put my ears back as I followed it at a safe distance. I passed all sort of beautiful trees and plants. I should come here often. After a good 30 minute walk there was Xenia holding herself, I stopped seeing the deer who was extremely larger than her. She looked up and smiled. The male deer put his hand on her palm as she stroked his head.
"What brings you here my brave boy?" She asked the deer, the deer did something with his feet and huffed. "Ah I see, someone is hiding huh, mind pointing them out?" She asked. The deer looked over my way and pointed with his hooves. "Come on out," She gently said. I was drawn to it, almost instantly. I wasn't me but more instinct like. I moved as the deer rest on her shoulder, "It's one of my pack, I am glad you brought her here to me." She compliments the deer. She pets the deer almost like a hug, the deer gently rest on her back trying not to hurt her with his antlers. "That's a good boy, can you do me a favor?" She asked as the deer but his head against her, "Can you check up on the area to see if all the animals are okay?" The deer bowed just a bit and scatter off as I sat a couple feet away from her. She looked at me with a smile. "Come on Tally." My hair stood up straight by the name as I followed her. "He led you here didn't he?" She asked I just looked down as my answer. She rubbed my head that felt relaxing and safe. Like an Alpha touch, I put my head up to her as she smiled down at me. "I'll get you some clothes, wait here pup." I did I was told, it wasn't even an Alpha command that I am used to but more gentle.
I waited for to come back, I wanted to please her. It was gut feeling like I must please her. I stood strong as she comes back with hospital clothes, "Ah, you stayed. Such good pup, aren't you?" She smiled. I wagged my tail at the compliment, it felt nice. I felt like I was flying by it, I felt blissed. This isn't an ordinary Alpha; she's the nicest and purest. She placed the fabric in front of me as I looked at her; she scratched my chin and pets me. "Okay go change now Tally, you've been good." She smiled and I did I was told.
I changed into the clothes as Xenia was there looking at the distance, as I brushed my hair with my fingers fixing it up a bit, I showed my presence. I smiled at her brightly still feeling to please the Alpha. "How did you do that?" I asked having my hands behind me.
She smiled, "Do what?" She asked.
"The commanding, the animal talking," I explained eagerly.
She smirked, "All Alpha's have it but they don't use since they prefer power over love." She smirked over at me, "Love always win."
I tensed at the statement, "Love huh?" I jokingly say it.
She turned to me, "Yes, you'll be surprised how many Alphas' can't have that. Let me tell you a short story about! I was visiting one of the packs and I found a critter, it was hurt. I was walking with the Alpha at the time. I told him to stop as I picked him up and took him with us. I cradle him as I talked to the Alpha. He wasn't pleased but didn't care. As it gotten better I let it go, but I was being attacked. I tried to fight but I did a cry. A stampede came knocking him off, the animals dragged me away." She explained. I was amazed, I never knew this.
"Wow, that's an Alpha power?" I asked as we opened up a door.
She smiled down at me, "Yeah, but many people don't know it. Many of the Alpha's are power hungry and don't even know what love is. It's a sad tale." She smiled at me. She shrugged, "I can also use the power voice but that's only when I am nervous and I panic." She smiled shyly at me. I thought it was cute so I smiled up at her.
"Does the pack know about this?" I asked.
She shook her head at first then shrugged, "I don't really bug my pack members, if someone wants someone they will come to me." She smiled.
We opened a hospital door to a room that mother lays; I stood there as I stayed near Xenia. She stood strong as she watched me, I looked up at her. She just gave a nod; she didn't have to say anything. She stood there as I pulled out a chair sitting next to my mom. "Thank you, and Xenia." I paused as she looked at me with a smile.
She gave me a nod, but with her eyes something deeper was found with her dark eyes. From far you could say its brown but when you look closer its black. It's rare like her hair but it was beautiful. I looked at her as she just stood there with a sadden smile. She looked hurt, but she just turned around and left. I looked at my mother who stood there frozen while I looked out the window to see Xenia enter a car then I realized why her eyes were hurt.
I kissed my mother forehead as I ran down the halls thinking how stupid I was, when I was out I screamed her name making the car stop. I ran towards her while she exits, it seemed all so motion. When she turned around I jumped on her arms hugging her tightly, her face shock and she slowly put her hands around my waist. "Have a good trip; if you need anything tell me." I pulled away as she looked at me shock and just surprise; I smiled putting my hand on her cheek as she tensed, "Okay?"
She looked down and up at me, I knew what she was thinking. I smiled for reassurance. "I will try." She smiled up at me. I gave her a last hug and smiled at her.
She went back into her car as I tapped the car and they were off. I watched as she turned right onto a road. She was gone. I waited as I felt something in me, almost like a tingling sensation. It was warm; unlike I touch other people or Zee. This was more soft and gentle like she is always with me. My hands stared to rub my shoulder where her touch lingered. I stood there like I was waiting until she comes back, but I knew it would be a week before she returns home. I want to say in my arms but for some reason, I can't bring myself to say so. I want her here, I want her home already. I stood there for long enough to see my shadow has vanished and the breeze gotten colder.
"It's cold," I said to the road that took our Alpha away, but her scent still lingers in the breeze. But it didn't smell like her, it wasn't her. I felt sad, wanting to curl up and wait by the phone until she calls or says 'I'm okay, go to bed.' It wasn't going to happen though, for some reason why I knew I would be doing the exact same thing when I enter that house.
"Tally, come on inside, it's getting dark." Zee said behind me, I could tell he was a pretty good distance.
I turned my head around almost in tears, "Why do I feel so sad of her leaving? Her being gone?" I said having my hands against my heart. "It doesn't feel like." I couldn't put my words into place.
"Home," He finished for me. He flinched again, sighing as he walked over to me. "Don't worry; this week will be a blur." He tilt his, I imagined he is smiling under that helmet. "Trust me."
I smiled for him, "What now?" I asked him, rubbing my arms.
He just looked at him, "The celebration, how about being my partner." He flinched almost in pain but shook it off. "How about it?" He asked more cautiously this time.
I pondered for a while; "Yeah sure," I smiled at him.
Being with him made me think of Xenia and how she would get embarrassed over little things. He seems to relax for a bit, rubbing his neck. "That's great. There would be a bond fire and some music. It would be wonderful if you could be my partner. Xenia wants me to take care of you." He added the last part almost forced.
I smiled at him as we both stood in silent, "Do you love Xenia?" I asked.
The question came out of the blue, but it pained me to say. He looked around almost to see if I was okay with the answer he was about to give, "For a while, I use too, but it died down in couple years," he answered, I imagined him loving her from a distance, it broke my heart. "But that is in the past, how about I teach you how to dance tomorrow?" He asked.
I giggled a bit, brushing my hair behind my ear, "With your helmet? This should be fun." I smiled at him.
He groaned at my response, "Come on puppy," He said.
I smiled at the little nick name, "Alright."
The next morning I heard a knock, I groaned as I answered. Zee came in with a smile on with his handsome strut, "Come on puppy it's time to teach you how to dance," he told me as he shook me. His hand on my thigh and hip, for some reason I didn't mind. "Puppy let's go." He begged.
I got up having my strap to my shirt fall off my shoulder, rubbing my eyes. "I don't want to Zee, it's early in the morning." I replied like a baby who just doesn't want to go to school. Speaking of school I haven't gone. I've been busy with the new pack.
He pulled up my strap and shook his head, "Lazy butt, I am like the mother in this damn house." He argued. He left for my closet getting out clothes, and like I said I didn't mind. I know he doesn't care, I bet he did this for Alpha Xenia all the time so it must be so normal for him. He got out my bra and underwear and my shower products. I groaned, he is like the mother in this house hold. I should cook dinner for them one day, they both deserve it. They both treat me like I am part of their family and they need more respect, the poor pack members don't even care, selfish people.
I enter the bathroom to take a shower to wake me up, so it did. I washed and got ready. When I exit the bathroom my bed was made and my clothes were gone, I guess mom Zee took care of them. I wonder if he likes doing that. I should help during the day when he is out. I wonder where he goes during the day, are there other packs that he visits or is it family? I came down the stairs when I saw him sleeping on the couch with his god damn helmet on again. That weirdo, I woke him up. Instantly he got up, jumping on his feet. Stretching his arms he said, "Alright first step is to put your hand on my shoulder, I would put my hand on your waist. We would hold hands," He grab my hand, and that my friends when I realized he is taller than Xenia by an inch, so that makes me two or three inches shorter. I blushed when I was against his firm chest.
"I wish you could take your damn helmet off." I mumbled.
He just laughed, "Not for a while but you'll see it off one day." He said in way that it was a good thing but a sad thing. We danced, around the living room as he complimented about my dancing. This seems so formal and professional. "You dance well, have you dance before?" He asked in a jokingly matter. I shook my head for his answer.
Then my mind wondered over to Xenia, she's in Russia without her pack. Isn't that dangerous to be alone and not have anyone guarding her? "Are you worried for Alpha Xenia?" I asked as we swayed to the quietness of the room.
He sighed, "I was at first but I always knew she'll be back home safe, almost the whole pack knew, don't worry she'll be back in a couple days or so." He reassured.
I smiled in response, "That's good thing huh?"
He just nods his head in a response, "It is a good thing." He agreed.
