Chapter 23

The next morning came by like a blur and for some odd reason, I'm more tired than I expected. My legs feel weak like I've been walking for hours, my sight blurs from the tiredness. What happened last night or during the night? I groaned as I laid down on the couch. Xenia came down but more wobbly than usual. My mother was here too but in the kitchen cooking all of us a meal, to go or even stay. I didn't get up but Xenia did drag herself over the kitchen stools.

My mother gasped at her look, "What happened?" She asked like a concerned mother; but she is to me at least.

Xenia groaned putting her head on the marble counter, "Nightmare. I was running from someone, then I don't know I soon was in this meadow and everything seemed at peace at first but then boom! I'm running again. I don't know what, I even looked behind me, but there wasn't anyone there." She explained.

I tilt my head, "Could it be my dream?" I asked.

They both turned to me, Xenia stared at me. My mother spoke up first before Xenia, "It couldn't be, everyone has their own dreams! Why would you both share the same dream?" She laughed.

I stood silent. "In my dream, I was in this heaven most likely; stars, clouds, river, trees, even animals. I was just sitting there as these packs of wolves run by." I told her but then I added something quick, "But it was just a mere second." I informed.

She looks back down almost afraid to speak up, but she did anyway. "Oh... at least you get a good night rest." She told me as she took a sip of the coffee that was placed by my mom, I walked over to the tables but she turned away looking down at her cup.

"That must be nice." My mother told me with a smile, "My dream was rather different but the same in somewhat. But I was standing in the meadow while a child runs at me, she grew and grew." She smiled remembering her dream. "Turned out to be you but a wolf was in the back. Like you said it was a mere couple second." My mom said with a small smile. Xenia shifted in her seat.

She rubbed her head against her palm. I looked at her and smiled, "How about you?" I asked her.

She seems frozen, almost not wanting to remember her dreams that haunt her, "Well my first one was me seeing someone on the ground, they were trying to shift but couldn't. Soon the person died and then everything seems to have eyes, staring at me. My second one was men all around me, I was in a cell. I tried to fight them off but my arms and legs wouldn't move, they became shadows of the dark but their hands reaching out to me." She explained looking at my mother.

It was quiet for a while but I didn't mind the silence. I looked at her, my mother spoke in almost in a whispering matter. "No wonder you don't get some sleep, you have nightmares all the time." She stated the obvious.

Xenia just coughed, "Yeah, umm Tally you should go get packing. I'm going to get the truck," she said after she stood from her chair, quietly putting it where it was before. "so don't get distracted with your thoughts, you tend to stay frozen." She left without any say. I sighed as I got up to head to my room.

Packing was a breeze, just added some clothes, tossing the bag over my shoulder and headed down the stairs; Xenia just came in but surprise to see me come down. "What?" I asked looking down at myself to see nothing wrong.

She rolled her eyes, "You got ready early, that is all." She told me as I shook my head. I headed out the door saying goodbye to my mom. She had a rather large truck with a back filled with camping supplies and in the back, seats are filled with pillows and blanket. "It's going to be cold." She told me over my shoulder almost looking at it. I jumped as she moved back in surprised.

"Don't scare me like that." I hissed at her.

She frowned at me, "Sorry." I rolled my eyes as we both got into the car with a silence between us. Nothing bad but it was a little awkward.

After not a long drive we arrived and the clouds were moving ever so slightly and grass was flowing with the wind. She looks up while I looked around amazement, it's our little spot but by god it was ours. She parked it right on the hill, I got out and smiled at the view of this beautiful little hill. I watched as she set up blankets and pillows to the back of the truck, while I shifted into my brown wolf. Stretching out my paws, I looked at her as she looks at me; wanting to change. She looked at me with a smile as she just looks at me running around.

The time to be alive, the time to go and run. While I felt the dirt under my paws and the wind through my fur, it's going to be a chilly night. I ran over to Xenia who was on the front of the truck looking out into her own little world. Her tired eyes seem to be more relaxed now even though I know she's thinking about something about her own life. I seem like I know everything but I don't know all. I sat in front of her putting my head on her foot that was propping her up. She looks down, smiling, "Oh sorry. Was I ignoring you?" The pull making me more animalistic, "I didn't mean too. I was looking beyond the mountains up head." She told me as she rubs her hand against my fur.

During the day, we were exploring near the river. She has her hands in her pockets while I walked ahead. I kept looking back making sure she is there; she's Alpha after all. Staying in the back watching out for danger. I looked ahead to see a deer drinking water, it looked up. It was watching us, but more like Xenia. It bowed her head and leaped away. She sighed looking down at me with a smile, she nods her head towards almost saying "carry on" so I did. I walked on having her behind me. It wasn't as cold as in human form but still was, Xenia doesn't mind it at all. She is used to this type of cold. I sat down as she stopped. I shifted into human form sitting down on the ground frozen. She stared at me straightly. "What?"

"You're stupid." She told me.

I smiled up at her as she just seems to shake her head. "You don't mind going, back right?" She shook her head as I shifted back running back to the truck, she followed behind in a jog. I sped up she caught my challenge and started to run. I might be faster but she was catching on quick making me yelp going down on my belly feeling frightened by the sudden power. She slowed jogging backward watching me, getting up I playfully skipped over to her. She smiled down at me as she got into the back of the truck and pulled out a towel, a fluffy one.

I shifted back seeing it almost freezing but she tossed me the towel making it slightly bearable to the freezing cold. I looked over to my alpha who was taking out clothes for my naked self. I just stared at her as she smiled at me, I gladly took the clothes and changed. Feeling much better I looked at her, but I noticed something once again. Her necklace on her neck, it shimmers in the sun just a tad bit. I started as she noticed, she held it her palm and sighed. She unbuckled the strap, gently placing on the back of her palm; it was beautiful with shining crystals. I stared in awe. "My family air loom, it's beautiful isn't? I don't remember how I got it though, it's all a blur but I know it's my duty to keep it near my heart." She told me smiling.

"Sorry I stole it," I apologize.

She shrugs her shoulders, "Ah, don't be." She puts it back on, she smiles with her closed eyes, "It's was a mistake and you learned from it." She informed me.

I knelt below her, out of the sudden I held the grass beneath me. Feeling all the powers of her Alphaness. She looks confused as she shifted her weight, "I will bow down till you are below your grave, I would protect you. I would do anything for you, you have taught me things that a couple months ago I would deny, would reject." I looked up at her, staring at her eyes that seems to be in shock, "I would serve you even though you might deny me, I would treat you like an Alpha and friend." She stood still staring at me.

What felt like hours was just mere minutes, wind blowing like this rejecting but somewhat soothing. "No," I froze. I knew it. "I won't allow that," She knelt to me. That was the comforting, she sighs. "Your learning is enough, you trying shows that you respect me. Do not do this, it won't be a good outcome." She lays a hand on me. I looked down at me, with a small smile she continues. "I don't want you dying for my life, it should be the other way around." She told me

I just stared at her as I noticed she was looking at me, her eyes seem to be soft and comforting. I was drawn but she caught on, turning her head away, "Alright." I told her.

She smiled as she pulled me up to my feet feeling a little wobbly, she held me steady as I swayed just a bit. "It's getting dark maybe we should set up a fire." She looks up still having her hands on my shoulders. Then she smiles looking down at me, "Yeah I think we should." She left having me stand there like an idiot. I smiled, I think she's doing a smart thing. I sighed as I looked as she carried some of the wood stacks on her shoulders. For a person who can't shift she has a lot of strength. She looks at me then back to the ground where she tosses the dry wood. Onto the ground, she then took out the fire pit that somehow fits in the truck. It was a decent size.

Walking over to the pit, she started it as it burst into a small flame with a small crackle. I sat near the fire, it draws me in. She tosses sticks in there, it looked nice. She hums as she does this, I looked up at her sighing. "You walked behind me earlier today, how come?"

She looks at me, "Cause it's a thing that I do?" She asked unsure of herself.

I stared at her as she seems uncomfortable, she sighed when I asked. "Well, I hope you tell me. Because no Alpha does that." I told her.

She just looks at me unknowing why I asked such a question, she just stared. "I don't know about you but I think it should every Alpha job should be." She said sternly.

I lowered my head, "I'm sorry." I told her.

She huffs as she looks down at the flames, "It's fine I'm going to go for a walk. Stay put." She tells me.

"Okay," I responded to her. She gets up and leaves.
