Chapter 22

I'm snuggled in my blankets, looking at Xenia who was looking out the window. She looks like she's thinking hard, I didn't want to interrupt but I have to. "You could sleep in here if you want?" I asked her with a smile.

She shakes her head, "No, but thanks for the offer. I'll stay if it makes you feel better?" She asked. I just nod my head, curling into my bed sleeping away.

The next morning, I find Xenia nowhere in sight but the sun shining through the tall green trees. I leaned back feeling relaxed, getting out of bed slowly I walked over to the window seeing nothing but trees. I got dressed finally, heading downstairs. It's the weekend so I have an excuse to just lay back and relax. I groaned as I flop on the couch, feeling it's untouched. My mother is asleep, Xenia is probably out and about as well Zee. So, for now, I have the home to myself. I smiled as I closed my eyes, enjoying the silence.

Soon enough my mother comes down saying a good morning greeting, but I just hummed in response. It was silent and a few moments later the coffee machine is running, it smells nice. I took a deep breath and smiled, earning a chuckle from my mother. "I knew you would want some." She giggled. My mother, the caring mother. I walked over to the counter, sitting in my usual spot.

"You know me so well mother." I chime. She just smiles as she puts a cup of coffee that has creamer already in it. I smelt nice as I took a sip of the burning water making me put it down quickly.

"Still haven't learned, have you?" She asked. I just smiled knowing she's right.

Later that night Xenia and Zee came back home, Xenia holding a cup of coffee while Zee just shaking her head. I got up from the couch, walked up to Xenia she looked down at me with confusion. "Happy to see me?" She asked with a smile.

I shook my head as I grab the coffee and quickly walked away. It took a minute for her to realize until I dumped it down the sink. "You have to sleep at one point." Zee laughed at my response, which sounded weird. She looked sad, "What."

"That wasn't coffee." She cried almost in tears.

No wonder Zee laughed, "Oh..." She looked at Zee, she's crying; a tear trying to break loose.

"Zee! Can we go back to get my..." She looked straight at me, "chai tea." I froze.

"I'm sorry!" I told her trying to comfort her but it wasn't working. She smiles softly.

"It's fine..." I knew she wasn't.

I smiled as she just takes a moment to realize my mom comes near us holding out a coffee mug that looks like coffee. "While you were whining and complaining, I found you stash of Chai tea and made you some." She smiles. "Your welcome Alpha." She stared at the cup, gently taking the cup out of my mother hands.

"Thank you." She whispers while taking a sniff of the look like coffee. Held it in her hands while she walked over to her chair and sat, staring at the cup. Mumbling something under her breath as my mom and I just smile. Zee was already gone into his room while Xenia just sits there smiling into her cup. I sat near Xenia who looked up to me and smiled, "Your mom is awesome." She smiled looking down at her cup.

I smiled, "Oh really?" I asked.

She nods, "I forgot how my family looks like but I just hear them. I didn't really have a 'mom' growing up. My ex-mate mom treated me like her daughter but it wasn't the same." She said sadly.

"You were rejected?" I asked looking at her.

She shook her head, "No, but you have to remember I didn't know English back then so it was really hard for them to understand." She smiles, "So I took lessons at night just with some books and audio." She laughed.

I frowned, "What happened to your mother?"

She just frowns blowing into her cup to get it cool, "She died." She just says.

I nod, "You can tell me when you're ready." I smile.

"What's there to say? My family is dead, every single one of them. There's no escaping the fact." She looks through the cup like a flashback. "Nothing to say." She laughs softs.

I looked down and smiled up at her, "My mom is very proud of you." I told trying to lift her spirits up.

She looks at me, in almost shock but more confusion than all. "How come?"

I smiled, "She's proud that you helped me. My mother couldn't do it because of my father but you did, and now it's my turn to help you. Even though the curse you hold want to be happy." I told her and she was in shock. Staring at me, all this time she was helping me and now it's my turn.

She's silent. "I don't understand." She tells me.

I smiled, "I may not be 'comfortable' around homosexuals but sometimes I forget that you are one and maybe if I forget that labels don't exist I might be able to accept them." I tell her.

She smiles, "I'm glad but you still have a lot to learn." She tells me.

I agree with her so I nod my head, I wasn't ready but something tells me it's about her. I grab her coffee mug placing it on the table. "Hey what the hell!" She screamed but I did something unbelievable; I hugged her as she stayed frozen not knowing what to do.

"I'm sorry for asking such thing. If I knew it was an uncomfortable topic I wouldn't ask." I backed away seeing her shocked eyes. She stayed still, frozen. "Xenia?" She looked up at me.

"You hugged me?" She asked questioningly, looking around with her eyes, she spoke in a soft Russian voice.

I shake my head, "Your acting like it some sort of curse." I laughed but then she smiles, almost forced. Almost seems like a flashback.

She looks at me with a small smile, then sighs, "I'm going to my room. Pack up tonight, I have to take you camping." She tells me as she walks up the stairs mumbling to herself, but something caught my attention, her walk is wobbly almost like drunk like.

I wanted to go help her but my legs couldn't move, I was frozen watching her leave to her bedroom. My mom comes in and sits with me, "You got the poor Alpha confused, bad girl." She teased poking my side.

I looked at her brown hair, noticing it was clean and her eyes shows light for some time now. Her face is getting wrinkled but doesn't bother her. "Mom, is Xenia feeling okay?" I asked her.

She nods her head, "Her hands are cold mother, her eyes are getting droopy by the second." I said worriedly.

"Have she shifted ever?" She asked looking at me having her arms wrap around my shoulder, pulling me closer to her.

I shook my head, "She can't shift, or what she tells me." I informed her.

My mom is shocked. "That's surprising as well. I have never seen her shifted before as well. Maybe her wolf is dying at last." She suggested.

I gasp. "She won't die, right?" I asked her.

She shakes her head, "No, just her wolf it's a long process."

I sighed in almost in relief, feeling this weight off of my chest. I couldn't bear to think that Xenia would leave me, but it's not going to happen for a long while. I chuckled as I saw my mother getting up and stretch afterward. She looks at me with a smile, then I told her, "Goodnight mom." I smiled at her, she gave me a smile. She headed up the stairs as I stayed down for a while. I sighed as the lighting got darker but it felt nice. After a while, I started to head up the stairs and I heard someone almost crying like a whine of fear. I followed the sound to be quiet as possible. It came from Xenia room, I slowly opened the door to see her gripping onto the blanket that she was cuddling.

"No... Stop... Too soon..." She whispered into her pillows, "Stop..." She mumbled repeatedly. I walked over to her putting my hand on her shoulder, she calmed. "Go..." She said something else, "Don't come..." I tilt my head to the side trying to figure out what she was trying to say; I didn't understand but the only thing I knew that she was having a nightmare. Her breathing calmed, I was about to leave but she spoke, "Why are you here Tally? I told you, do not come in here. It gets cold." She warned me as she got to bed.

"I'm sorry I heard you crying in your sleep," I explained to her.

She rubs her head, almost trying to get the nightmare out of her head, "I'll take you to your room and get you some hot tea. You're freezing." She informed me as she got out of bed she also told me, "By the way this is normal, feeling the nightmare and feeling of all the pack. I'll tell you, it isn't fun." She tossed me a jacket.

Putting the clothing on, following Xenia as she walked passed me with the tired look. It's still dark but that just one glimpse of her made me feel bad looking at her. The dark circled are coming to form again, and her bed hair doesn't look messy at all. It seems like she just feels asleep. Following her to my room, she breathed a relief noticing that my candles are lit and good. "I'm sorry I woke you," I told her.

She sighed, "Don't apologize." She told me as she turns on the light, "If you didn't wake me I would be awoken by the nightmares." She explained as to let me pass into my room.

She left after a while, I sat on my bed feeling warm once more. I didn't realize that I was freezing. I shivered, tugging onto her jacket for warmth. After a couple minutes of staring out to space, she comes back with tea in her hands. "Thank you."

She smiles down at me, "No problem," she walked over to my bed area to place down the tea when she was about to leave she stopped then looked to the side. It was my backpack I used to school. "you should also get packing we are leaving tomorrow and it will be a couple days. Don't worry you could sleep in. I'm not getting the truck till 10 in the morning." She informed me as she left, closing the door behind her.

I took my time with the tea, feeling it was necessary to do so but as well it was hot. I stood silent for a while I slowly carefully sip on my drink, it's dark out of course and I'm barely getting to bed. It's around 12 or so. I smiled as I finished, putting the cup down then going to bed afterward. It wasn't a big deal but to me it was soon a discovery. During those sleepless nights, there is someone thankful for her to bare the nightmares of our past, and present.

Xenia shouldn't be taken lightly, nor taken strongly. She isn't weak or strong. But she is strong at heart and weak for the people she calls her own. She will cherish the people around her even though they betrayed her, the reason? I don't know but I know the answer to all of the questions she's been asked 'Love always win.'
