15: Thank you

Its 4am and I smell McDonalds pls hlp

Mark's POV

"Tyler, I know you're mad but I really need you to pick up!" I plead, ending the message. I've left him multiple voicemails but he won't answer.

I fall back onto my bed in defeat. I lost both of them. Tyler and Y/n are both mad at me. What have I done?

When Y/n was crying earlier it ripped me apart. She's mad at me and she is clearly at a bad state with her family. She doesn't deserve any of this. And I just had to come in and make everything worse, telling Tyler things I shouldn't have.

Its been an hour since then. I've locked myself in my room and ignored my mom when she wanted to talk. I couldn't talk about it without crying, remembering how upset Y/n looked. How big of a mistake I made.

My phone began buzzing next to me. Grabbing it, I expected to see Tyler but was confused when my eyes landed on an unfamiliar number. I answer hesitantly, hoping it doesn't turn out bad.

"Hello?" I say, staring at the ceiling.

"Mark! Thank God!" Y/n sighed.

I shoot up into a sitting position, surprised at Y/n's voice.

"I found your number you gave me a while ago so I decided to call." She speaks quietly.

"Y-Y/n?" I speak hesitantly as if I say the wrong thing, she'll be gone forever.

"Yeah," She sighs. "Listen, I-I'm sorry." She apologizes. "I'm sorry about yelling at you, I'm sorry about fucking your life up, I'm sorry about Madison-"

"Wait, what?" I interrupt.

"What?" She asks, nervously chuckling.

"One, you did not fuck my life up," I correct her. "if anything, you did the opposite. Two, why are you apologizing? I'm the one who should be saying sorry."

She quietly giggles. "True, but you already did. Now its my turn." She pauses. "And I guess I really need someone to talk to right now." She mumbles quietly, barely audible.

"Lay it on me." I smile, laying back down on my bed, staring at my ceiling again.

"Hold on," She says. "Its Mark." She chuckles. "Mark!" She repeats louder.

"Yeah?" I speak, confused if she was telling me to say something or not.

"I was telling my dad who I was talking to." She giggles, making my mind race uncontrollably. Wait. Her dad?

"Oh, hey!" A deep male voice greets. "Can I talk to him? I need to let this guy know who he'll deal with if he hurts you."

"Dad, we're not-" She begins, stopping herself mid-sentence. "Never mind."

"Well if you-" He began.

"Hold on, I'll call you back!" Y/n says before hanging up.

Now I'm a smiling mess because of her.

What are you doing to me Y/n?

Y/n POV

"All I'm saying is if you like him, I still need to let him know who he's messing with." Dad says, sitting on the couch.

"But you can't tell him I do!" I groan, my head falling behind me and sitting on the back of the couch. "You're the only one who knows, don't mention anything to anyone, not even your friends at work!"

"I wont!" He holds his hands up in defense.

"And we won't be 'messing' with either of us. He doesn't like me." I run a hand through my hair, bringing my knees to my chest.

Looking around his house, its not that big. Most of the furniture is old and used but that doesn't make it any less better than home. The divorce really messed him up, money wise. He can barely pay child support because of the state he's in. It honestly worries me, but every time I offer to get a job to help him he declines and says he's fine.

"He might," Dad shrugs. "you're a beautiful, young girl who any guy would be lucky to have."

(Am I the only one who keeps imagining the dad as this really feminine gay guy? XD)

"You sound like a stereotypical high school girl talking to her friend about boys." I roll my eyes, giggling.

"I'm serious though!" He smiles. "Have you tried flirting with him?"

"No!" I laugh. "I have never flirted and I never will!"

"Oh c'mon!" He chuckles. "How does he act around you then?"

"Uh, like a normal person," I laugh. "Why?"

"I need to know if this guy is coming for my daughter!"

"Uh, no." I laugh.

"So, what do you like about him?" Dad asks, leaning in as if I had the biggest secret known to mankind.

"Oh my god, not doing this!" I laugh, dialing Marks number.

"Oh, c'mon! Please?" He begs.

"Nope!" I giggle, putting the phone up to my ear.

He groans as he tries to listen for Mark's voice again.

"Hello?" Mark greets excitedly.

"Hey," I smile.

"So you're with your dad, huh?" Mark asks.

"Yeah," I nod even though he can't see me. "I visit him every now and then. My mom doesn't know obviously, or else she'd beat the shit outta me."

Silence falls between us. Dad is close to the phone, listening to everything he says. I hold back my laughter at my dad acting like an annoying high school girl.

"You okay?" Mark ask, breaking the silence.

"Better than great." I smile, staring out the sliding door next to my dad's side of the couch. Its completely dark outside and I'm not returning to hell. I'm not leaving home again.

"You're sure?" He asks.

"One hundred percent sure." I reply.

"Okay," Mark sighs. "just know if you ever need to talk to anyone about anything, even if its four in the morning, you can come to me."

"Thank you."

Short lil chapter, one will come out soon! As in today soon! Not tomorrow soon!
