A New Year

"Karian, first day of school darling. Get dressed!" Kari moaned in responce as she slowly slid off her bed, causing the covers to fall off with her. Summer was over, and the new school year has begun. Kari Hanjay wasn't the best student.. Nor the worst. She would rather go to Starbucks with her fellow 'amigos' while practicing a few skating tricks, than waste 6-7 hours of her life in school.

Kari stared up at her roof; thinking. 'Hold up, what stage am I in this year?' Let's see... Eleventh grade... 'Oh.. Junior. Well, at least people actually know me. I cant imagine going to a new school as a Junior without knowing ANYBODY.'

Kari let out a small chuckle while standing up. She picked up her phone from her nightstand and let out a small yawn. '7:45 a.m.'

The sixteen year old groggily walked to her dresser, opening it quite roughly. It wasn't on purpose, its actually quite normal for the Italian girl. She took out a pair of ripped jeans, a light blue hood with pinm hood strings and her dark green jacket. Sounds like a lot, correct? Well, it is August, so its about 37° or less. She is used to it, but she still likes to bring her jacket just in case.

She quickly took off her white tang top and purple shorts in exchange for her picked out clothes. Kari dropped to her knees and looked under her bed. It was a mess in there. Papers from last year, middle school, heck, maybe even elementary scattered througout the floor. A couple of juice boxes, socks, and bags of chips as well. She scanned the floor and grabbed her galaxy themed converse. She searched for random socks, and just her luck: a set of paies were right in front of her closet!

After putting on her white socks and converse, she ran to the bathroom and looked into the mirror. An italian girl with long black hair stared back at her. She had pinkish-brownish arises in her eyes. Her eyes looked tired, but again, it was oddly normal for her. Kari picked up her brush and gently combed off the knots in her hair. She smiled when she finally untangles her long black hair, that went up to her knees at least.

Kari took out her mini-makeup supply and set it in front of her. Yes, for a tomboy, she does in fact wear makeup. But very little though. She gently put then green, then black, on the top, eye shadow on both of her eyelids. She put a small bit of chapstick on her lips, since it was cold out, and she did not want dry lips.

One more thing that Kari can NOT leave without. Her red beanie. She's had that beanie since she was back in Italy. Her father gave her it before the 'incident'. Kari shook off the bad memory and continued to search for her beanie. Ah! Finally. It was on the towel, cleaned recently. Kari slowly picked it up and smiled gently. She read the note hidden inside of it. 'Never Forget. I will always love you, Karian. Love ~ Daddy.'

Kari always wore her beanie for good fortune, and ever since the incident, she's never spent a day without wearing it. Its what brings her confidence. Its what makes her keep on going. She put the red beanie on her head, the soft cloth resting on her hair.

Finally, she's done. She ran back to her room and checked her phone. '8:27 a.m.' School starts at 9, so she still has enough time to eat breakfast and hang with her 'gang'. Kari gtabbed her purple backpack, which was already ready thanks to her mother, and ran down the stairs.

"Karian! Be careful, you can trip and fall. Now, please feed Vanel and eat your breakfast." Kari's mother scolded her daughter for the risky action.

"And good morning to you too, mom." Kari said, while rolling her eyes and walking to feed her cat, Vanel. Vanel purred softly as Kari pet him.

"Karian, please. Its too early for your attitude." Her Mother put a hand on her temple.

"Sorry..? Im just stressed about today. Y'know, since its the first day." Kari shrugged and put the cat food in Vanel's bowl.

"Ah, I know the feeling hon. But remember; You have a cool mom to go too when your feeling bad!" Kari's mother brushed her short black hair and smiled at her daughter. Kari rolled her eyes and giggled.

"Yeah, I guess your right. So, what's for breakfast?"

Her mother gave Kari a cuban sandwhich with a Starbucks latte. "Here. Just like your father used to make!" Her mother smiled weakly.

"Thanks mom... Im sure it'll taste great!" Kari took the sandwhich and put it up to her mouth and held it there. Her mother chuckled and gave her a small hug.

Kari grabbed her backpack, put it around one shoulder, put on her helmet, and took off on her styled skateboard. It was niether girly, nor manly. It symbolized Kari. Is was a big red heart with angel wings and devilish horns as well. Clouds were around the heart.

Kari waved to her mom as she skated off to her High School. As soon as she saw her group of friends, they all ran up to her in an attempt to hug her. Kari stopped her skateboard with a small 'screech' , in order to not hurt her friends.

"Kari!" The group said in unison. They ran up to her, giving her high-fives, hand shakes, hugs, and other greetings. Everything was just like Sophomore year, last year. Kari picked up her skateboard with her right arm, and held her latte with another.

"Hey guys, imma head to the bathroom, catch ya later." Kari waved at her peers, waving the cuban sandwhich. She forgot to use it at her house, so she needed to use it now. Plus, it gave her the chance to check her social media accounts without her pals bothering her about who knows what.

"Oompf!"

Kari held her temple while looking up. She must've bumped into something-or somebody while she was in deep thought. She looked up to see an asian girl with big, circle-ish glasses, light brown hair with darker hair throughout the bottom, a purple shirt with a pink kawaii octopus, light purple jeans that are up to her waist, black flats, and a brown purse with a cute goat child.

The girl looked up as well, revealing crystal blue eyes with a hint of green. She stared at Kari while holding onto her books and head. The italian girl felt a bit uneasy under the mysterious girl's gazr, so she decided to say something. "O-Oh, sorry. My bad, I didnt mean to bump into you."

The girl kept on staring as her.

"U-Uh. My names Karian Hanjay. But you can call me Kari." She held up a hand to her, for her skateboard was on the floor. The girl kept on staring. This was starting to get on Kari's nerves, so she decided to do something.

'Snap!'

'Snap!'

'Snap!'

The girl snapped out of her gaze, after Kari snapped three times in front of her face. A light pink hue appeared on the girl's cheek.

"O-oh! I-Im sorry k-kari. I was just thinking." She stuttered a bit too fastly. She shook Kari's hand and smiled. "My name's Corretta."

"Eh, its alright. Anyways, are you new here? I can show you around." Kari suggested, pointing around.

"Actually, yes. I am. Can you show me to the restroom?" Corretta smiled a bit.

Kari nodded and smirked. "Yeah, thats actually where I was heading. C'mon, follow me." Corretta nodded and followed the italian girl.

'Yep, this is gonna be an interesting year.'
