The battle
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Wars rebels
"Finally a fight worthy of my time." the inquisitor smiled
Kanan ran at the pau'un only to be blocked.
Ezra ran to help his master. He wasn't quite used to his masters lightsaber just yet.
Ezra was too, blocked, but managed to stay near the battle.
It went back and forth between Ezra's strikes and Kanan's. Ezra was sent flying backwards by a Force shove.
Kanan struck again to get the inquisitors attention. The sith kicked him and sent him back as well.
Ezra stood up, ready to defend Kanan.
The inquisitor flicked his lightsaber which began to spin.
Ezra lifted Kanan's lightsaber as the inquisitor threw the spinning blade towards him.
Ezra blocked one of the double blades, but the other struck his face and shoulder.
Ezra, who was already near the edge of the platform lost his balance and fell.
"NO!" Kanan yelled jumping to the edge.
His padawan lay motionless on a platform below.
Kanan closed his eyes recomposing himself. He looked at the inquisitor who was grinning triumphantly at Kanan.
"You shouldn't have done that."
"Why, because now you don't have anyone to die for you."
"No, because now I have nothing to fear."
Kanan put out his hand and his dropped lightsaber flew to it.

As the two battled, Ezra was battling himself.
Stay awake, he yelled to himself faintly he heard Hera's voice.
Momentarily Ezra's eyes opened. He saw Kanan and the inquisitor fighting, but Kanan was winning.
Ezra reached down and grabbed his com.
"I'm here!" He moaned.
"Ezra are you alright? Do you have Kanan? Where are you?"
"No, yea, by the platforms in the engine room."
"Ok- wait what Ezra what's wrong?"
Ezra got majorly lightheaded and everything began to go dark.
He laid down and closed his eyes no longer trying to stay awake.
Voices yelled his name
"Ezra, Ezra, Ezra!"
But a faint calling found him.
"Ezra, come home."
Ezra was plunged into a memory from when he was 5. Ezra had fallen and scraped his knee. Ezra wasn't home for dinner. Ezra's parents came and found him. "Come home Ezra, come home." They said and they walked home with him.
---------------------------
Kanan slid to stop next to Ezra.
"Come on kid wake up."
Ezra didn't wake up though.
Kanan picked up Ezra's wrist feeling for a pulse. One moment his heart was steady, then it was gone.
"No, no, no, NO!" Kanan began to cry.
He pulled the lifeless boy onto his lap, cradling him.
"Ezra answer me this isn't funny."
Kanan pulled Ezra's com out of his loose grip.
"Hera, Ezra's gone."
"What, but I was just talking to him. Where did he go."
"Hera-" Kanan choked on his on words.
The line was silent for a second.
Then "Stay right where you are we're coming."
Kanan's head bowed. He whispered "It's too late."
