okay so I have a few personal rules for myself when it comes to who I follow. they are:

-I won't follow someone if their follower count is more than double or just a lot more than their following count, because often they're stuck-up or just won't follow back 

         +an exception to the above one is if they follow me first--but if they only follow 50 people and have like 1k followers, I don't follow back because I assume they'll just unfollow me later

-I won't follow someone if they don't speak my language because I like to have all my notifications be readable. and I'll only consider it if they follow me first

        +exception is if they speak spanish and even then only sometimes, because I'm trying to learn spanish but am still very much a beginner

-obviously, I won't follow pedos or disgusting people

-I won't follow accounts that are inactive or don't have anything on them, unless they follow me first

-I will always follow back (unless you fit one of those criteria above!)

all that is mainly because I'm getting pretty close to my follow limit (1k) and don't want to clog it up with people who I don't need to be following. I've already gone through my entire following list once and unfollowed like three hundred people who were following less people than followed them, and it was incredibly tedious so I don't want to do it again.
