Chapter 7: A Protective Assassin.

No answers were given as Iseldur copied the Elite's slow trek. Sharp, heterochromia eyes glinted in what shadows were in Flurious's frosty cave.

"Not even a mutter? Fine..." Through gritted teeth behind his mask, the Elite spoke.

Hyne didn't give him any more room to continue before electricity fueled her speed. He mimicked her and did the same, resulting in countless streaks of blinding blue flashes of light.

"AAAH!" A powerful, wrathful cry escaped her when she slid along the icy floor, swiped her blade out and nearly missed his chest with a smoldering heatwave from her Stake.

With short swords from his sheaths, the Elite zapped at her and collided with her Stake Blade. Their lightning-fast strikes as they continuously flew about the room, left cracks echoing in the air.

However, to Iseldur, she was holding back due to the enclosed space. She raced across from one wall to the other and gradually made her way against the ceiling. The speed kept her from gravity's pull while she ran upside down and avoided the Elite's Cherry Bombs which caused some icicles to fall.

"Take this outside, will you?! You're going to ruin my lair!" As if on cue, air dispersal knocked him back when Iseldur descended and dropped the back of her heel upon the Elite's head.

However, her opponent sprinted with electricity out of the cave after she realized she missed. "You're not getting away!" Her growling scream resonated like a roar of a beast in the cave and with that, she left in a flash.

Snow and mountains were everywhere. The frigid cold didn't bother her in the least, for she leaped through the thick falling flakes and extended her Blade.

As she came down, she horizontally spun and made a spiral wave of ice to trap him with her.

The Elite grunted angrily and jabbed the stub of his lopped-off wrist into the snow to freeze it over. He was quick to lift his blade to block her. The moment he did, he missed, and her Stake punctured straight through his hand. "AH!" Screaming, the Elite yanked his hand from her and they both back-flipped without the use of their arms. "Haha... Not bad." The subtle cock of his head slowly changed when he looked around them.

The spiral-shaped ice enclosure kept him from escaping on foot, but that wouldn't stop him. "Your little Spy friend won't help you... If that's who you're looking for!" Suddenly, from her back, two red Nerve Slics slipped out of the holes and latched onto her pole. "BURN IN HELL!" With nasty aggression, she stabbed her Stake into the ground and a large wall of flames erupted from where she stood.

The fire was hot enough to melt the surrounding ice, the snow beneath their feet, and some of the falling flakes. But as she stood there panting with the Slics still attached, she looked up and saw that he was gone.

His disappearance told her that he escaped, presumably by the electricity in his armor. No... No! He got away! Her anger shook the tight grip on her pole as she mulled over the chance she had to end him. That mocking tone of his and his overconfident words ticked her off so badly, especially when she knew he worked for a stealthy murderer. "AAAAAH!" Through the snowstorm that began to brew, she screamed and started to swing her extended staff furiously.

Streaks of fire cut through the cold of the growing storm and each move carried power and strength. Resulting in the exterior of the cave not far from her crumbling into bits of chunks, but she didn't stop until she let out a powerful roar to the frosted sky. Had she known Flurious watched the whole display and saw her Nerve Slics, she would've knocked him out and tried to remove that memory somehow.

But alas, she didn't. Instead, she retracted Slics, her staff, sheathed it, and used her electricity to run away and try to search for the rogue.

~~Flurious~~

What... Were those tendrils? Absolutely stumped. Flurious wandered back into his cave with knitted brows and was completely lost in thought. From what I could see... They were attached to her back and they heated up. He paused amid his step just in front of the small bit of stairs to his throne.

He soon noticed the mess around the room. How icicles had fallen from the ceiling, the sculpted ice sofas and coffee table had been smashed, and the chocolates were strewed everywhere.

A heavy sigh left his cold lips before a chuckle escaped. From there, he decided to check on the Power Rangers and plucked a small, thin piece of ice to use as a toothpick. He could definitely feel something between his teeth, it was sharp and irritating. Thus, he began to prod at them.

There before him, a frosted screen was created, and he sat there watching a fight between his enemies and a new threat that appeared. Over and over again, he rewound it to watch. The sight angered him, finding their power to be beyond the Ranger's.

With a swift movement of his hand, the makeshift toothpick was pulled away from his mouth. "These new adversaries are strong. They whipped Kamdor and almost destroyed the Rangers!" Fumed Flurious after he paused the recording and stared at the creatures, that strangely resembled felines.

However, upon hearing joyous laughter grow louder, he looked over and saw Norg slide down a permafrost pathway near his Throne. "Hahahaa!" The few grunts and chuckles from him were soon followed up with, "Oh! Kitty-cats!" Once he saw the snowy Yeti look at him, he nearly cringed. "Can I have a pet?! Can I?!"

"You are a pet!" Through anger, Flurious threatened him with the icy toothpick and silenced him. "Now, go scratch your fleas - I'm busy!" Further away from the Throne, he started to walk and ponder various ways he could overcome such new threats. "I need more power if I'm to combat these beasts. It's time to break out the Gyros!" Stabbing the toothpick into a thick structure of ice, he pulled on an icicle among the many there and revealed small holes inside that held the said objects.

"Yes!" He reached for two of them and held them carefully. "These. Should. Work... Nicely!" Indeed, he was thrilled. His inventions that could provide him an edge in power would be used very soon. Of course, his mood was quickly ruined when he overheard Norg talk to himself about some sort of ice rat, he simply groaned and closed his eyes.

~~Iseldur~~

It took her almost ten minutes to reach a forest. Following the Elite's tracks like a bloodhound on a hunt eventually led her back. Her hidden eyes were trained on the Elite's backside once she caught up, determined to end him.

From branch to branch, she vaulted skillfully. Flipping, spinning sideways with the momentum she built up, her Stake blade was soon extended into a staff. "AAH!" A powerful scream bellowed from deep within her throat once she cast a wave of frost across the way to block him.

Ice spikes upon Ice spikes erupted from the ground and covered most of the trees in its wake. As soon as she landed, the Stake was stabbed into the thick layers of ice and smashed into fragments.

The speed at which they were falling was nothing compared to the boost from her electricity, as she retracted her pole and swiped countless times to turn the fragments into projectiles.

The Elite panicked, doing his best to grasp his blade and deflect the flurry of spikes. Then a couple of times, they both used their electricity and zapped back and forth with their weapons clashing.

However, Iseldur came to an abrupt halt when she saw his backside for a mere moment. A second was all she needed to strike and so, with her molten tendrils replacing the icy ones on her weapon, she pulled her Stake back.

As soon as he whipped around grunting and holding his swore stub, he grunted loudly and used Cherry bombs to create a smokescreen. He was lucky he did, because streaks of fire blindingly sped past and cut through countless trees, followed by her furious cry. Molten yellow hot marks were left behind once she lowered her blade, after about thirty seconds straight of swinging her blade.

Heterochromia eyes waited for the smokescreen to fade and kept her ears open for any subtle hints that he was nearby. When it finally did and saw that the Elite was no longer there, she stabbed the Stake-end of her Staff into the thickly frost-covered ground. The tight grip on it was enough to make it quiver in place, which caused some of the ice around it to crunch. Just you wait... Your head is as good as mine! The growing anger in her chest kept building and building until she couldn't hold it in any longer. To the treetops and the sky, she leaned her head back with a mighty cry, "Cowaaard!" Her outburst was enough to make nesting birds fly and squawk fearfully, however, something green had moved in her peripherals.

The moment she heard a twig snap, her head whipped over, and saw two strange felines gawking at her quietly. The green one held a bladed staff of some sort with both hands, while the gray one on his side stood by speechless with a strange mirror under his armpit.

The green one accidentally dropped the staff, resulting in a hysterical metallic clunk, the sound hardly shook him out of his stupor.

"Oh... Great." Groaning, sighing, shaking her head, Iseldur turned on her boots and wandered away. Ignore the weirdos in cat suits - Ignore the weirdos in cat suits. I didn't see a thing... Just focus! Where did that bast- before she could swear in her mind, a deep voice hollered behind her to gain her attention. Yet the goth paid him no mind as she walked on and looked up to see the Sun's location.

"Hey, there!" Deep and cocky his voice seemed like, but the tone he used almost sounded flirty if she had to guess. She continued to ignore him regardless and soon found the sun sitting in the middle of the sky.

I'd say it's twelve or one in the afternoon. The goth concluded the time, noting the locations of East and West before managing to put together a mental compass. The way she had to go was past the feline weirdos who were gradually approaching her. The green one had picked up his Staff and plopped it onto his shoulder, trying to seem imposing or strong with an arrogant lift of his chin.

"Who're you? Are you after the Jewels too?" He asked with a poor attempt to intimidate, or if that's what someone would call intimidation.

"No... **** off." A comical squirrel had trilled loudly when it ran down the base of a tree nearby and had overrun the swear she made. It angered the goth and caused her to glare nastily at the retreated animal, but she continued nonetheless.

Once electricity began to spark around her, the felines flinched at her sudden disappearance and the lightning crack in the air. Luckily they shielded their eyes from the blinding blue light in her wake, but once they lowered their arms, she was gone.

~~Fearcats~~

"As I was saying--" The green feline walked a few steps away from his friend. "Perhaps we don't need the power of the Jewel to release our friends! It seems there's a lot of power in the Jungle!" Quickly, he whipped around to his gray buddy and if he had a human mouth, he would've smirked. "A lot of Power Rangers... And apparently, an attractive Assassin.~" Menacing laughter fell from his maw when he leaned his head back, only for his friend to interrupt.

"Attractive? You couldn't even see her face..." The Gray one denied that being possible, her being attractive was out of the question.

"Whatever! Let's just go and nab ourselves one of those Power Rangers!" The Green one was annoyed beyond belief now. Yes, he was distracted but only for a moment and decided to return his attention to the main goal at hand, bringing his brethren back.

"Which one should we snatch? Who would be easier?" Questioned the gray cat as he walked along the green bean's side. It was certainly something to think about since they all possess some different kind of Power.

"Let's see..." The green one began and hummed in thought. "The Red one has strength from what I recall. The Pink one would be an excellent choice if we end up running into her..." He mulled over the five Rangers and thought about their Powers, considering each one would have some form of difficulty in grabbing.

"Why don't we sit up in the trees and wait around for one to show up? We could ambush them!" The gray one excitedly suggested and made an eager fist close to his chest, before moving in front of his friend.

"Not bad. I like it!" The green one agreed and laughed before they jumped into the trees to find a good spot to stay.

~~Hyne~~

I need food... Iseldur internally sighed and thought as she made her way through the forest. Which way is the city? This doesn't feel like San Angeles. An eye twitched when she looked around and headed in the said direction as before.

Lifting her wrist, a holographic screen soon appeared above her device and a few taps with her fingers navigated it to the world map. "You have to be kidding me!" Gawking with a slacked jaw behind her helmet, annoyance crawled its way up and strangled the back of her mind. What she saw wasn't something she was hoping for. "I'm in... Brazil?" An exasperated groan sounded when her head leaned back. Regardless of her situation, she looked back at the screen and went to find her Penthouse's location.

"Well- at least with my armor's electricity, it should cut the travel time by more than half. Roughly seven more minutes at best." When she dismissed her screen and wiggled her fingers subtly a certain way, the said element coated her body.

However, what caught her attention and kept her from continuing her trek, were outbursts nearby. People calling out someone's name made her head look to the side through the trees and notice a group of four teens searching for someone named Ronny.

Kids? Damn, are they following me? Everywhere I go, they seem to show up! Or the other way around... She thought irritably and watched on the sidelines, as the teens continued.

"The Fearcats have her!" She saw a blonde man in gray attire announce after he knelt and picked up a yellow hair band. When the others ran over to him, Iseldur was quick to climb into the trees soundlessly and hover above their heads to listen in. "We have to rescue her before it's too late." Urgency filled the man's voice when he showed them the band.

"Why did they grab Ronny?" The one in blue and black asked, purely worried over his friend.

"It's not Ronny they want, it's her power... They'll use anything, to release their army." The one in gray explained, albeit just as worried as the others, and by the look on his face from Iseldur's angle, she could tell he did his best to stay calm.

When the one in pink and black removed a device from her shoulder, the goth's attention focused on her. "Let's hope they don't know how to turn off her locator." The girl stated, worry etched into her voice as she watched her use the device as some sort of scanner.

Once they ran in a particular direction, Iseldur humphed and looked ahead. So... They're called Fearcats? Those feline creatures I met before? Were they the ones who kidnapped the kid? A small bit of anger began to bubble up inside at the mere thought of those two kidnapping children. It wasn't just mistreated Elders that she didn't approve of. It was also her lack of tolerance towards people who hurt children and it drove her into instinct.

Time to trash a couple of corpses... With that final thought, she clicked her tongue and raced ahead of the group.

~~

It took some time, but when she came across a coast full of rocks and some ocean waves nearby, she spotted the two felines from before. There was a dirty blonde strapped to a wooden beam, which she pretty much concluded was the missing kid.

"You pieces of sh-" Before Iseldur could swear beneath her breath, she overheard the green one speak something about their brethren when he detached her shoulder device.

"You won't get away with this! I have friends in high places!" The girl threatened the green feline, but it didn't seem to stir them at all.

Iseldur's hidden eyes were intensely focused on the cats to care if she was noticed. In fact- she walked toward them with her hand on the hilt of her blade.

"Once our army is free, your friends will be insignificant!" The gray cat answered after he placed the mirror he held on a rock and faced the girl, which was soon followed up by an evil laugh from the green annoyance next to him. "Hey, look! It's her!" The moment he pointed in Iseldur's direction, he shrieked and rolled out of the way when the goth used her electricity.

Angrily zapping across the distance, her blade missed him by a hair but was quick enough to whirl around and stab the back of his calve. A trail of blood and a cry of pain left the cat's maw when he crawled away and stood with a hurt leg. "You must have a death wish, for attacking me!" He threatened with a bit of a nervous shift to lessen the weight on his wound.

"Funny..." She began with pure and utter hatred for the cats. "This, coming from a corpse." Suddenly, her staff extended and a skillful spin made it flip around to its Stake-end.

"I'm not dead yet!" The gray one spat and got into a fighting position, but the goth hardly cared.

"You're already a corpse... You're just walking - I can fix that." Through a small growl of anger beneath her breath, she answered. However, her head barely tilted at the sound of faint movement in the sand behind her. When she felt the hairs on her neck stand up slightly, she lifted her pole and blocked a powerful strike from the green one's staff.

She didn't hesitate to counteract his attack. Her blade scrapped and slid along his staff's pole, wedging between him and his weapon. Quickly, she yanked on it, stomped onto his exposed toes, and used his weight against him. The green one flew over her shoulder harshly, straight at his buddy, and made them both crash to the ground with heavy surprised grunts.

"As I said... Already Corpses..." The goth had perfect coordination as she slowly trekked, confidence radiated from her like a heater in a room. When she saw them stand and growl at her, she flipped her staff.

Side-swiping her Stake-end had released a long burst of fire that the cats jumped to avoid. She didn't stop there, for she twisted around, and replaced her red Slic with a blue one to provide an icy edge. Another swipe sent a wave of ice that uprooted in spikes and covered a large amount of the coast on one side.

"Cheetar!" There the gray one sat, frozen in ice. The green one stood astonished by the raw power behind her simple swings. Such destruction could possibly clear armies if it was used properly.

The green bean did a double-take from the confidently approaching Assassin to his buddy, and quickly smashed the ice encompassing him with a blast from his eyes.

"Mig! S- She's not... What..." Cheetar, the gray feline, stammered and walked backward. The calm, the silence, and the confidence from Iseldur unsettled the gray one beyond words. There was just something about her that he couldn't comprehend. The air she carried with her was that of a professional killer and his green friend, Mig, saw his discomfort.

The goth wasn't aware of the slacked jaw and wide-eyed expression on Ronny, nor would she have cared either.

"Whatever or whoever she is, it doesn't matter! What matters is that we get our-" Blue light flashed along with an echoing thwack, interrupting Mig. An ice fragment in Iseldur's hand and the shorter version of her staff were pressing dangerously against their backsides.

They both felt it, she knew they did judging by how stiff they became. At that moment, they would've been killed. "Release her... And I may just bring these two corpses back to life." Threatening them with their life, she remained knelt on a knee with both sharp objects pushing further against their backs as an indication for them to speak.

However, when she spotted the group of four sprinting over rocks to catch up, she heard Mig run over to the mirror. Fu**! The goth spat a swear in her mind but was interrupted when she overheard the green cat speak.

"Be free my friends! Help us conquer!" Upon those words, Hyne saw him use the device to send energy into the mirror.

Now's my chance! Urgency filled her mind when she lightly jogged over to Ronny and silently pointed her blade at the girl. "When I free you, get away from here..." The goth didn't want any children's blood on her hands or anyone else's, so she made sure the girl understood. But the knitted brows and the confused parted lips told her she wanted to either protest, question her, or both.

A fight broke out behind her when she began to cut at the binds around the kid with the Glaive end of her weapon.

"Who're you?" Pausing amid her sawing, Iseldur heard her ask and lifted her hidden eyes to see the unwavering confusion on her face. But she didn't say anything in response, just a simple, momentary glare.

However, she looked over her shoulder when she saw the four other teens say 'Overdrive Accelerate!' and equip themselves in suits within a flash of light. Wait... These kids are the Power Rangers? Why?! The grip on her pole grew tighter and shook from the anger. What snapped her out of her puzzled astonishment was Ronny's question that came next.

"Are you after the Jewels of the Corona Aurora, too? If so, why are you helping me?" Looking back at the blonde, Iseldur hesitated to answer but did nonetheless.

"No, I'm not. Now shut it." It pained her to see her in that state. Whoever put children in the line of defense was stupid! They're a complete and utter as*** A cry from one of the Rangers nearby interrupted her swear when she pondered the idiocy of the decision over the Rangers.

The explosions that went off by Cheetar when he zapped energy, caused a couple of the kids to fly across a few feet. Iseldur was so focused on watching the fight that she nearly forgot to continue cutting the binds.

"Can't... Get. Loose!" Despite the loosened binds, it was still a struggle for Ronny to get free and once the goth looked over, she saw hands reach out of the mirror. The blonde and she stood wide-eyed at the approaching new threat, so the goth was quick to stand in front of the girl and extended her staff to prepare.

"Damn it! This is why kids shouldn't be involved!" Beyond pissed, the goth was, but regardless of her anger issues, she knew, that the best she could do in that moment was either destroy the mirror or protect the girl from getting attacked. Who knows what these so-called Fearcats would do once they didn't need her anymore! Man- this pisses me off! Growling beneath her breath, she watched as male feline hands reached further and further out.

Out came a Tiger-esk creature, donning orange and black with an odd extra face on his chest. When he arrived on a knee and stood, he spoke with relief, "Free, at last! About time!" Then and there fire was sent at the distant Rangers and made an explosion behind them.

"You piece of furry cat sh**!" Cursed Iseldur, her swear at the end funnily being blocked by a cry from the teens. Regardless, she used a Nerv Slic swiftly and sent out a flurry of fiery waves from her Stake blade, resulting in the orange cat leaping out of the way to join his buddies.

"Please!" Ronny caught her attention when she hollered to her.

Turning back to her and seeing the girl's pleading stare, she heard her continue. "Help them! I'll be fine, I just need my Morpher!" One, two, three, despite the battle echoing in the distance and the cries, she spent a few seconds weighing her options.

Morpher... That must be the devices used to equip their gear. A brief thought occurred, not once had her stare at the girl faltered.

"Please... Just... Help them until I can get my Morpher back!" Again, the blonde begged and gave her the most scared and innocent stare she could muster.

Slowly and hesitantly, Iseldur shifted her weight and began walking towards the battle. I swear-- If she... No- If any of these kids get hurt, I'll have these cats' heads on a pike... The tight grip on her pole nearly shook as her calm approach grew more angry and sped up.

Upon seeing the blue ranger being wrestled by Cheetar, she zapped. As if in slow motion, she had slid across the sands, and whirled close to the ground with her staff following her almost in an elegant sweeping dance. Cheetar was quickly knocked off of his feet, resulting in a loud grunt from the wound she had given him minutes ago.

This had released the Blue Ranger and in doing so, she launched herself into the air by piercing the ground with her staff. Past Cheetar and the few Rangers, she stomped harshly onto Mig's backside. "Get OFF!" Through a furious growl deep within her throat, she screamed, sent him flying, and rode him like a skateboard.

Across the small distance, she kept a foot on the back of his head, before attempting to stab him with a lift of her staff. However, he turned slightly amid the lengthy skid and knocked her off in time to avoid a fatal strike.

Rolling and flipping to catch herself, the goth watched Mig bounce and smash into a cliff edge's wall ahead. Iseldur whirled her weapon to correct its position and returned to the battle, leg-sweeping the new orange cat, twirling, and smacking Cheetar upside his head simultanously.

Her skills shined bright through the chaos and the Rangers' attention was soon on her. "Kids... Back off... These cats are just walking corpses. Parents should've taught you better not to touch dead animals." A subtle cock of her head before it straightened, was used as emphasis before she walked around them like a Huntress in the wild. They began to spread out and do the same with her eyeing them like prey.

Behind them, she saw the mirror glow with several more hands trying to break through. When Ronny mumbled 'Oh no...' Iseldur grumbled irritably at the possible new threats to come.
