Chapter One: The Populars
Hey yeah, don't let 'em know we're coming
Hey yeah, tiptoe higher.

I started to tune out the teacher.
I can't concentrate when you're so monotonous.
Was what I wanted to say, but I held my tongue. I was starting to feel like I was stuck in a Charlie Brown movie where all the teacher said was, blah, blah, blah.
Conveniently, the bell rang and I rose to my feet, books in my hands. As I exited the classroom, I was met with the two most popular girls in our school.
Yasmin Cortez and Mary Elizabeth Whitaker.
Both were gorgeous and loved by all, especially by me. As my best friends, they really were the highlight of my high school career, if that was a thing.
Yasmin has these gorgeous, brunette beach waves that cascade down her hourglass body, and tan Latina skin that is to die for.
I trust her with my life.
You would to, if she gave you her pants when you peed yours, in kindergarten.
Yet, that's another story.
Mary Elizabeth is lovely. Her classy name and clear porcelain skin shouldn't be legal. She could be in a Jane Austen novel if her brain didn't have it's blank moments.
These girls made high school less hell bound.
Although, I can't complain, we are the most popular girls, after all.
We, meaning myself and the girls.
My popularity skyrocketed to the moon, once I came back from my trip to see my aunt in Florida. Clearly, showing up to school hungover and telling the principal to fudge off gives you some cred.
Not that kissing the most popular guy in school, at homecoming, doesn't either, but we're not counting that one.
"We should send Jenny Nickels to Florida, god knows she needs a makeover. Look at those eyebrows!" Mary Elizabeth joked about one of the nerdy girls walking down the hall.
I sighed. "Now, Mary Beth, we talk about these things in private. We don't want to embarrass these poor souls." I whisper and Yasmin rolled her eyes with a chuckle.
Yasmin nudged me playfully. "How was algebra?" She asked me as I shrugged.
"It sucked and I sucked. We don't get along too well, algebra and I." I hitched my bag on my shoulder and she smiled at me.
Mary Beth picked at her pink nails. "Who needs numbers, anyway?" She says.
Yasmin and I stare at her for a short while before Yasmin opens up her big mouth.
"Let me know where that takes you later on in life." She says and I laughed loudly as Mary stared at her cluelessly.
I threw my head back in laughter, my eyes squinting shut. Opening my eyes and catching my breath, I bumped into someone making them stumbled into the lockers.
It was a skinny nerd in a blue hoodie. His dark wavy hair was wild and his black-rimmed glasses were falling off his nose. He wiped his palms on his khakis before adjusting his glasses.
I stifled my laughter. "Sorry about that." I hid a growing smile behind my hand and my friends giggled at him. He adjusted his glasses and rolled his eyes.
Before I could say anything further, an arm wrapped around my shoulder and I stared up into a pair of crystal blue eyes.
"Is this guy bothering you?" His smirk taunted the poor nerd and I almost felt bad.
Enter, Jason Philips.
Jason was the famous Mr. Popular I kissed at homecoming. Ever since that day, we've sort of developed a flirtation-ship. But Yasmin says our relationship is still developing.
"He couldn't anyway." Mary Beth giggles and I sigh.
The joke was getting old.
"Let him be." I quickly glanced at the nerd, who looked at me shocked.
"We're just having fun." Jason grabbed my hands and pecked my lips.
I blinked and the nerd pushed past my friends and I to get to his class, no doubt.
I watched him run off but Jason turned my head towards him so my eyes were met with his. "What're you doing tonight?" He smirked and rubbed his thumb against my lips.
I hummed. "Nothing." I wrapped my arms around his neck.
Yasmin gave me a cautious look, but Mary's was the complete opposite.
"Wanna hang out?" He smiled at me and Yasmin shook her head, making all kinds of crazy hand gestures from behind him.
"Of course," I said, and the bell rang as Yasmin groaned.
