The click of he record as the needle flicked on to play the charming music that set the background. It was a pretty thing, a gentle song with a mellow band and a woman singing entrancing notes. Marion did not know the song very well, despite the sheer number of records that she owned, being the kind that collected music but never really took the chance to listen.

It was always the simplest things in life that were more often than not overlooked with the passage of life. Priding yourself on one set thing was not something one of good character participated in, but Marion often believed herself to be someone rather good at taking in the world around her and the things that life shot her way.

Pretty flowers w re never passed by without a chance to smell the natural scent, a sunset never forgotten after so many years as she continued to connect them to the importance of the occurrences of her day. Estelle's smiles never forgotten as each and every one was a gift onto itself world was filled with so many what ifs and maybe that Marion never risked overlooking, it was perhaps what gave her the confidence to so boldly watch as Rosalie danced around the room to the music and accompanied laughter of young Henry. Blonde curls danced loose around her face, having been tugged free from grubby toddler hands, pretty rose glossed lips pulled back into an enticing smile that made the room truly shine with this outstanding brilliance.

Blue flickered around the pair, the dress flowing with each careful step as the human swayed around the room content and free. A deep purple joined the mix, linking hands together to spin around to the music in a moment of abandon and happiness, Estelle dancing about, free of concerns as she partook in the festivities of the evening. It was a happiness that Marino did not think she could know. Everything she ever wanted was right here before her.

Estelle was never the type to express her joy, and never had she been very fond of Rosalie, but seeing them together was like a dream realizing itself before her eyes. Pieces that never quite fit before locking together, bringing Marion to smile this secret thing hidden behind her long fingers tipped with a pretty pink manicure that reminded her of dear Rosalie's sweet blush. It made her insides warm to see their happiness together, the way their smiles and laughter lit up the room.

"Marie, you should go join them," Vera whispered at their side, her hand coming to rest gently on the vampires elbow, drawing her attention to the innocent smile the woman gave her and the serene look in her eyes.

She must have been feeling something close to herself, Marion found, as they both regarded the people in the room as some of their most important people in their life. Their family, their precious people, they were the ones they would want to protect above all else.

With a silly giggle, she grasped Vera's hands and dragged her out to the impromptu dance, spinning the woman around with he expertly as she met Rosalie's grinning eyes. The needle continued to drag over her record, the click something that Marion used to match her steps to as she lead them through intricate steps and movements, dipping the young mother causing her to bubble over with laughter each time.

Estelle cut in, snatching Vera away from her with an elegant spin and turning so that Marion had no choice but to catch Rosalie before she stumbled, easily working them into the dance alongside the other two.

"Hello there," Marion whispered, leaning forward and placing a kiss to Henry's head, smiling when he giggle and wriggled about in Rose's arms. She turned to Rose as she lead them in a wide circle around the room, easily avoiding furniture as she went. "You are a wonderful dancer."

"I'm not nearly as graceful as you. You look ethereal as you move," Rosalie complimented, blushing as she did. Marion grinned.

"You are like this pretty swan, Rose. A wonderful thing that I cannot live without - no matter how selfish it is," Marion admits, adding on with a cheeky grin, "or how bad your dancing."

"You just said I was a wonderful dancer!" Rosalie cried in mock outrage, pouting playfully.

Marion hummed. "I suppose I did."

She spun them fast, heart soaring at the sound of childish laughter and melodic giggles from the pair encase in her arms. She felt very complete like this, with the image of her and Rose holding what she could see as their own child. This could have been them one day, if fate wasn't so against them from the start. If fate had been on her side she would still have her husband, a human life in a world far from the one she lived in now.

"Hugo and Estelle," Marion whispers softly, loving the way the lighting cast a glow over Rose's pale skin. "They we're all the family I had until I met you."

Rosalie gulped, ducking her chin shyly. "I don't think I've ever fallen so hard until I met you that day at that party, standing their as the prettiest thing in the world."

"I never want to be away from you, ever," she breathed, their dresses swishing with the music as Marion twirled them about in a silly pattern. "You are incomparable."

"You never have to be away from me," Rosalie mumbles, gripping onto Marion tighter. "Why would you say something to frighten me like that?"

"I do not mean to frighten you, I simply want to make sure that you are aware of my affections for you," she admit, ducking her gaze to get a better look at Rosalie's burning cheeks and stuttering pulse.

"You must know that I can never feel what I do for you with another," the blonde mutters breathlessly, casting a glance to Vera and Estelle across the room. "I am so attached to you, so helplessly in love with you that it must be something unhealthy for I can hardly think of anything else."

Marion gasped softly, the breath rushing from her in a burst as she took in the tantalizing words and the way they set her alight with contentment and joy at the notion. For she truly loved Rosalie more than her own life and would do anything to make her happy. Heart in her throat, she nodded, unsure of what to say because words were not worthy of expressing how she felt to the literal love of her life.

Because Marion knew she could never, would never, love another like she did Rosalie no matter the circumstance. Her kind never got a second chance at a mate, never wanted one when they already knew what it was like to love their first and could never imagine replacing them in their souls. Rosalie was the only one she would ever had, regardless how short a period.

Love on it's on was a splendid thing, but the love that she felt for the ones she held dear knew no bounds, bad bo limits, and Rosalie had never been an exception to that. How could Marion not be elated at the reciprocation of such strong emotions? How could she not be overjoyed by hearing such sincere words?

There was nothing she wanted more than to kiss her right then, to display her feelings in a way that words could not as she felt complete holding Rosalie so close - the image of a family, what thsir family could be, resonating so strongly in her mind.

Neither said a word as Marion's eyes watered, tears burning inthe corner and rested her head agaisnt Rosalie's, a silent understanding passing between them. She would have cursed the situation had she not been so happy. Where was the fairness of it all, in the way they were not alone when she dearly wished them to be?

Rosalie shifted, hiking Henry up higher on her hips as the boy began to nod off, head falling to rest on her shoulder with a trail of drool already slipping from the corner of his mouth. Marion smiled, watching the conflicting emotions in her eyes as she no doubt found him growing heavy by now. She silently took his weight from her, supporting her arm that was getting tired.

"Would you like me to take him?" She asked gently, slowing their movements to a gentle sway to the music.

"Please, I need be leaving soon anyway," Rosalie breathed, shaking her arm in relief as the weight was lifted off. "My parents will be expecting me home before it gets too late."

Marion startled as she looked to the clock, finding it to be quite late actually. "Would you like me to walk you home? Estelle and myself would not mind."

"No, no, I couldn't ask you to do something like that," the human quickly refused. "Just give me a moment to speak with Vera before I prepare to leave."

She didn't get the chance to stop her as she darted off to speak with her friend. Happy chatter and rapid plans were being made as Marion stood there holding Henry to her chest, letting him drift off in the way only children were capable of doing. Estelle passed her by, snatching the boy from her chest and resting him against her own without so much as jostling him, giving her a knowing wink as she nodded her head towards Rosalie that was darting towards her in a swish of blue and blonde.

"Will you walk me to the door?" Rosalie asked with a flushed smile, a soft look settling on her face.

"Are you sure you don't want us to walk with you, Rose? It is only a short distance and would not bother us in the slightest?" Marion asked again, trailing worriedly after the mate as the girl began to slip on her coat and place her hair pins to the stat they were when she arrived.

"It's not necessary, Marie. You said it was only a short distance, I am perfectly capable of a short walk," Rosalie reaffirmed, chuckling softly as she took in the state of the other woman. She reached out with graceful fingers, brushing Marion's cheek softly as she cast a nervous glance, assuring herself that Estella and Vera were no whee in sight before she leaned in and planted a swift kiss to Marie's lips. "I will be perfectly fine on my own and will see you in the morning."

Marion sighed, breathing in the scent of her mate. "It is late, Rose. It is not safe to be out at this hour."

"So it won't be any safer for you to be out at this," Rose argued.

"I will be with Estelle, I would not be alone. Let us walk you home, ma chère," Marion pleads, snatching up Rosalie's hand and peppering kisses to the he palm, driving herself wild with the feel of her wild pulse beneath he ministrations.

"It won't set my heart at ease knowing that I would have put you both in danger," Rose dismissed the offer easily, brushing off everything Marion tried to persuade her.

With a sigh, Marion reluctantly agreed on the matter and allowed the human to leave the home, both stalling at the front door. Her touch lingered on warm hands, a gaze burning over her cool skin in retaliation. There was something that ached in her chest, this forbidding feeling that did not settle with her and she only wanted to move closer, feel Rosalie pressed to her skin so closely that she could feel the thunder of her heart against her chest so that she may know she was safe with her, that she was here with her.

"Promises you will call as soon as you arrive safely," Marion breathed, head bending forward to rest against the human's shoulder.

"I promise," Rosalie said, slowly extracting her hadn't from Marion's and turning to leave for her home. "And I will see you first thing in the morning."

"I will be waiting!" Marion called after her, holding to the door frame for support as she leaned out.

She could hear Rosalie's giggles despite the growing distance, a smile melting away her worried frown.

"I won't let you wait long!" Rosalie shouted, cupping her hands to her mouth for added effect.
