5.Sometimes, it doesn't matter if it is too soon
I sunk onto the ground with trembling hands, resisting the urge to scream out to unleash all my inner turmoil.
Kael, who had been staring down at his ex hatefully, bent down and placed a hesitant hand on my shoulder. "Are you okay?" he whispered. "What happened?"
I sniffled. "My money. I spent all my money on your phone!"
Kael bit his lower lip in guilt, "I am so sorry. I will make it up to you. I already have another phone, so you don't have to worry anymore."
My head cracked in his direction. "You have another phone already!?"
"Kael! What do you think you are doing? That was the latest phone I bought for you!" cried Natalie before she composed herself quickly with a blinding smile. "But...it's okay, I can buy you another one! I can give you even more!"
"Why don't you get it?" Kael asked, looking beyond annoyed. "You cannot buy my love. We.are.over. I already have a girlfriend. I have already moved on even though we just broke up yesterday. That says a lot about our relationship, doesn't it?"
"This girl right here is not your girlfriend! She can't be! She is not as pretty as me, she is plain-looking which doesn't suit you, Kael. She is-"
"-I'll have you know that I was prom queen last year, you bitc-"
"-and I bet you cannot satisfy Kael like I did," finished Natalie with a conceited expression, while Kael held onto my arm to prevent me from scratching my nails across that fake face.
I let out a scoff, "I wonder why your precious Kael is with me if you gave him the best pleasure ever. Clearly, he couldn't wait to get his hands on me just after he dumped you yesterday!" I laughed out loud mockingly.
Both Kael and I were blushing red at this point, but I was even more annoyed with this girl to consider this. Natalie was not getting the hint that she was not needed here anymore.
"You-YOU!" she let out a shrill screech, at a loss for words. "I don't believe that you are a couple! It's a hoax!"
Yeah, she was not easy to get rid of.
She was a used chewing gum that was stuck onto our shoes at this point.
Kael and I locked eyes, agreeing on the fact that she was incorrigible. She would not leave Kael alone unless something had to be done that would make her heart tear into shreds. It was evil, but she was a cheater, after all. A shameless and desperate one at that.
"Kael," I whispered to him after taking a deep breath. "I'm sorry but I think we will have to-"
"-I am going kiss you like it is the best kiss we are ever going to have," Kael cut in making me freeze.
I gulped and watched him with my pupils dilated. He cupped my face making me squeeze my eyes shut and place my hand on his nape.
Here goes nothing.
We crashed our lips together, kissing each other as if our lives depended on it, as if it were the only source of our life. His rough hand tangled in my hair as he tilted my head, our lips introducing themselves deeper.
I groaned into his mouth as I felt the little black curls on his nape, and he shivered in response, biting my bottom lip hard enough to extract blood.
The hairs on my arms stood to attention, my body melted into his arms and my legs lost all sensation as we kissed like there was no tomorrow.
He brought my body closer to his embrace, inhaling my lips, trekking the goosebumps on my arm, gliding his long fingers through my long strands of hair.
I was out of breath by the time we were interrupted by teasing hollers and cheers from the partiers in the garden and yard.
We breathlessly look at each other, feeling overwhelmed and mind-blown.
"That was the best kiss I've ever had," Kael stated softly, his eyes droopily dropping onto my wet lips.
I couldn't have agreed more.
I clenched my fist on Kael's shirt with a bright red blush while Kael tightened his grip on my hip. He did not meet my eyes as he looked away with a flaming face. I immediately let go of him, feeling embarrassed under the teasing stares of everyone.
"K-Kael," Natalie reminded us of her presence. She had weakly kneeled on the ground, her eyes pooled with tears.
Kael quickly took hold of my hand once again, so that Natalie could see it. I was still feeling lightheaded from that kiss, my feet wobbling a little.
"A-As you saw, Elara here is my girlfriend now," Kael stated in a hoarse voice.
Natalie looked like her life was torn apart as she sat on the ground, her eyes pained and cheeks wet with tears.
Damn, this was evil. I was feeling sorry for this girl when I was reminded that she was a cheater.
Why cheat on him if you wanted Kael so bad?
This made no sense to me at all!
"So now I would love it if I did not see you anymore," Kael finalized strictly and he headed back towards his house with me in tow as we passed the hunched figure on the ground and the giggling groups of spectators.
As soon as we got inside, both of us simultaneously downed a big glass of whatever drink that was available.
"Is she gone?" Lyn asked Elio who was watching me with concerned and curious eyes, but he nodded in answer.
"Finally," Lyn sighed in relief before looking in between me and Kael. "That was quite a show you put there."
Kael placed his hand on my shoulder, ignoring his sister. "Come with me. We need to talk."
I glanced at Elio with helpless eyes but he stood with a grinning Lyn, waving at me goofily as Kael took me outside to the backyard.
"Here," Kael handed me a jacket to cover me from the cold as he took a seat on a bench that was under a towering birch tree. "Come sit."
I nodded in thanks and awkwardly sat beside him, being careful to not sit too close. If I did, I would faint on the spot with his heat attracting me in waves.
He looked majestic under the silver glow of the moon. I knew the kiss we had was doing things to me, and that I was beginning to be attracted to this guy too soon. But that kiss...Oh My God, nobody has ever swept me off my feet with a kiss like that.
I wanted to kiss him again.
"Hey, uhm...I just wanted to apologize for involving you in my problems," Kael started, rubbing his nape; the nape I had grabbed onto while he kissed me passionately.
I shook my head and squirmed in my seat. "No, it's okay. I've had my fair share of cheaters. They are the worst."
"I'm sorry such a thing happened to you," Kael said, his gentle voice unfamiliar to my ears.
A tense silence prevailed between us after that and I listened to the beat of the music and the cheery laughter of everyone.
"Elara."
I became rigid in my seat, turning towards Kael slowly, knowing what would happen, knowing he was there, waiting.
Our hands reached out for each other as our lips met, smacking againsteach other in a rush, teeth clashing as we desperately breathed in, never breaking away.
He cradled my face and I placed my hands on his broad chest, claiming his lips, claiming back the kiss that I couldn't forget from moments back.
"Damn, you are probably the best kisser ever," I grunted against his lips as he planted a kiss on my chin.
"Yeah? I could say the same about you," he breathed, his lips travelling to the crook of my neck. "I know this is too soon to ask-"
"-Hmm?" I asked impatiently as I bit his neck.
He giggled a little at my action, making me gape at him.
"Sorry, I am ticklish," he explained sheepishly making me laugh out loud.
Kael delicately tucked a strand of hair that had fallen over my forehead behind my ear. "Want to date me?"
"You are right. It is too soon to ask that," I put out after a lengthy pause.
Kael shrugged before leaning back on the bench, "Yeah, but why delay the inevitable?"
"You are quite confident for just having met me," I stated and watched as he smiled.
"Call it intuition, but I have a good feeling about you. I could feel something...different when I kissed you. It's a feeling like no other!"
I backed away, embarrassed, and mumbled, "Why though? I have been a troublemaker and a disaster for you ever since yesterday."
"Oh God, please don't remind me of it. But if it weren't for you, the chances of finding Natalie cheating on me would be close to nothing."
"But you still broke your phone," I pointed out and Kael shrugged coolly. "Yes, I owe you. I can pay for all our dates instead."
I laughed at his words, feeling my heart afloat as a melodious song drifted through the speakers. "Want to dance?"
Kael looked at my outstretched hand and grinned at me before standing up and guiding us to the lawn.
Under the moon's watchful gaze, we twirled and spun each other around in a fit of giggles and smiles, harmoniously stepping on the beat, the rhythm gliding across the emerald grass in precision. We moved around freely and I thought about how much changed between us within the span forty eight hours.
How could you connect with someone whom you couldn't stand to see? How could you create chemistry with someone you've just met? How can your impressions of each other change so quickly?
I agreed to date him with a final parting kiss that night. We would get to know each other and try to see where this goes. If it doesn't work, we could break off our bond healthily, with understanding.
New territories were explored, new passions were found and new memories were created. Getting to know each other more under the sun, in front of the waves, as the rain pelted our laughing selves, hearts tingling with joy even more than the last time we saw each other... it bloomed, it blossomed; the fancy, the attraction we had towards each other.
I did not expect him to be the rock of my life.
I stand on my toes, my eyes scanning the crowd of people who just landed. Tired children are carried away by their equally tired parents, families reconnect with their loved ones as they embrace each other tightly.
Planes take off from outside and I bite my finger in excitement as I keep on waiting. I impatiently tap my heels on the ground, checking the time on my phone.
Ah! Was that a familiar back I was seeing?
He had his body turned away from me as he searched for his luggage from the aisle. His black curls were tamed but his posture was looking exhausted, hinting at the possibility of him being jet-lagged. He made his business suit, impulsively checking his wristwatch from time to time.
I hope his business trip went well!
With a barely containable grin, I stand directly about ten feet behind him. I get into position and crouch, ready to fire.
Some passengers glance at me apprehensively, but I am on a mission.
Taking a deep breath, I was off like an arrow. I jump directly onto his back, clinging on to him like glue.
The wind knocks out of his body as he grips me tightly, preventing me from falling and keeping our balance altogether. With a chuckle, he takes my hand and kisses the ring on my finger.
I laugh out loud in happiness and bring my lips to Kael's ear, "I jumped the correct guy this time, didn't I?"

So yeah, my first short story is over! I hope you like it! Since it had to be in the range of 5000-10,000 words, I did not introduce an over-the-top plot...just a simple one. I enjoyed writing this! Don't forget to Vote and comment. Thanks for reading!
