I take a deep breath. Sinnoh surely has a different atmosphere. The air is colder and thicker than Alola's.

I make my way through Jubilife City. I don't even know where I am and where I'm supposed to go. Rotom isn't helpful at the moment, and I can't remember the last time I used a real map. Technology can screw up my mind sometimes.

Eh, screw it, I thought as I hopped on top of my bicycle.

I cycle through Sinnoh's beautiful routes. Oh, Kukui would love to do fieldwork here! If only this was a work trip...

Thirty minutes later, I somehow end up where I was supposed to be. Twinleaf Town.

Now, if only I could find Barry's house...

I hear some sniffing. I look around, only to find a Lucario running towards me at the speed of light.

"Lucario, wait!"

Too late. It ran into me, now we're both laying on the floor. Ouch, my arm...

"I told you to wait for me!"

I open my gray eyes. It's Barry, helping Lucario to get up. He offers me his hand next. I accept it.

"I guess this one was excited to see you, even more than me!" Barry laughs, petting Lucario's head.

"I hope you're just as excited! I didn't leave Kalos in a hurry just to see your Lucario" I furrow my eyebrows in false anger. Barry smirks.

"No, I wasn't excited at all."

I lower my eyebrows, pretending to be hurt. Barry sticks out his tongue playfully before engulfing me in a tight hug.

"Can't. Breathe. Stop."

"I thought you wanted to see me" He says, tightening the hug even more. I pretend to faint in his arms. "Jeez, you're weak."

"Want me to squeeze your life out of you?" I give him the death stare.

"You're so sweet" He lets go off me with a side smile. "Let's go home, my mom wants to see you too! She even made extra lunch for you."

I smile as I follow him. That is so sweet. And a bit sad, for me. I miss my mom so much.

Prof. Kukui entrusted me with this 'mission.' He wants to see all the moves Pokémon can use in battle, but he can't leave Alola, so he asked me to go on his place.

I remember the day my mom told me there was a letter for me... There it was, neatly placed on top of my bed. For Lianna. Not even five minutes later I was rushing to Kukui's laboratory, asking if he was okay. I thought Lycanroc accidentally dropped a rock on his head. He must've been nuts to ask me to leave, when I just barely became a champion. I had a lot of things to do, one of those things being comforting poor Hau. We were all sad when Lillie left, and it still hurts.

I was hesitant at first. Alola needs their champion. We still need to keep an eye on the Aether Foundation and research the Ultra Beasts.

But when I set foot on Kalos, I knew it was gonna be a lot of fun. I only knew the Kanto region, my old home, and I need to say: seeing a lot of different places and Pokémon is really interesting.

We arrive in less than ten minutes. Barry doesn't live that far, we were busy teasing each other. His mom gave me a really big hug. I see where Barry got his hugging skills.

Barry and his mom were very welcoming. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, but also a little sad. I really miss my home. When I leave Sinnoh in two days, I think I'll go back to Alola. After all, it is my home and I miss everything I left behind.

After lunch, Barry and I decide to go for a stroll around Sinnoh. Our Pokémon seem to go along well. Salazzle is having the time of her life, and so is Barry's Lucario. I don't think I've seen Salazzle so happy after we left Alola. I'm glad she found a partner in crime. I just hope an egg doesn't appear out of nowhere...

We spent the whole afternoon looking around museums, stores, and different Poké Marts. I'm having lots of fun around Barry. He's a little idiot and can be annoying sometimes, I guess that's why we get along pretty well. The thought made me chuckle as we walked around the city.

"We should take a look around route 212! I think you would love it" Barry suggests.

"Oh, that would be awesome" I smile back at him, appreciating the idea. "I just need to stop by the Pokémon Center first. I haven't talked to Kukui since I arrived yesterday."

"Yikes..." Barry raises his eyebrows, scared for me. I giggle. "Let's go, then. There's a Pokémon Center nearby."

I follow him towards the Pokémon Center. It's calm and silent in here. Probably the most calm place I'll be today. Barry brings the party with him wherever he goes.

Barry and I give our Pokémon to Nurse Joy. I seat by the PC to talk to Kukui while they're being treated.

"Why hello, Lianna" He greets me with a smile. "I was worried sick about you."

"Sorry about that" I rub the back of my neck. "I got lost here in Sinnoh and this annoying idiot didn't gave me space to communicate with other people."

I push Barry in a friendly manner. He sticks his tongue out at me, making me giggle.

"You're here now, and that's all that matters" Kukui reassures me with a smile. "Have you arrived safely?"

"Yes!"

"And how are you liking Sinnoh so far?"

I look around the Pokémon Center, daydreaming about this beautiful region. Kukui chuckles.

"This place is so beautiful, Kukui. I might stay here for good" I smirk.

"If your mom hears you, she might take a plane just to bring you back."

"Shhh, you might be able to convince her" I wink.

"Stop it, young lady, I'm a well married man" He pretends to be disappointed. I giggle. "What are you up to today?"

"Barry and I went for a walk around Sinnoh. I hope you don't mind me not doing fieldwork today."

"Don't worry about that! I didn't send you to another region so you can work for me. Go have fun! Just be safe, yeah?"

I let out a breath I didn't even knew I was holding. The thought of Kukui being mad at me has been killing me since I arrived yesterday. Kukui has to be the most cool Pokémon professor out there.

We talk for a while. Kukui gave me updates on the region. Everything's fine, apparently. Gladion still is keeping an eye on the Aether Foundation, I couldn't trust him more. Mom misses me, so does Hau and Lillie. I let out a sad smile. I miss everyone... Can't wait to see them in two days.

Nurse Joy comes back with our Pokémon. We thank her and Chansey for their amazing job. I even took the opportunity to drop Lycanroc and Lurantis off in a box.

"We are going, then! I'll talk to you before going to bed" I say to Kukui.

"Don't sweat it, Li" He smiles at me. "Oh, before you go, prof. Sycamore from Kalos wants to talk to you!"

I frown. What could it be?

"Hm, that's weird. He usually calls me whenever he feels like it. I wonder what this is about" I wonder.

"Seemed important, don't keep the man waiting. You know how Kalosian people are" We smirk at each other. Some Kalosians are awful.

"I'll talk to him when I get to my hotel."

"You do that! Be safe and have fun, cousin!"

I smile again. I was starting to think Lycanroc hit Kukui with a rock again, but I'm glad to hear him calling me cousin again. It's my way of knowing everything's okay at home.

We bade each other farewell for now. Barry and I take off to route 212. He hops on top of his bike, and I just stick with my roller skates.

"You need to teach me how to use these things" He says. I just nod with a smile. I'm not in the mood to talk right now, I just want to enjoy the atmosphere.

It doesn't take long for us to arrive. My jaw drops, making Barry chuckle. This place is so beautiful, I'm speechless.

Good thing the setting is gorgeous, because the wild Pokémon left me a bit disappointed. I saw most of them in Kalos, so I wasn't excited to see the same faces again. I'm sure Kukui doesn't mind, but I'm personally not a fan of catching the same Pokémon over and over again.

Salazzle nuzzles my belt, touching Primarina's Poké Ball. I smile, understand what she's trying to say.

"Hey, Barry!" I call him. He was busy with a wild Kirlia. It jumped at him, taking him by surprise, and it scared the crap out of him. I just heard his scream echo through the whole route. I laughed for a solid ten minutes.

"A second!" He yells back. I see him throwing a Poké Ball at the wild Kirlia. It shakes three times before clicking.

"Nice catch!" I compliment. Gardevoir is a nice Pokémon, I would love to have one. "Is there a river nearby? I think Salazzle wants to play with Primarina."

"Sure thing! Follow me" He grabs the Poké Ball from the ground and motions me to follow him. "Empoleon would love to swim too."

"Don't tell me you picked an Empoleon as your starter. I always pictured you with a Torterra" I tease him.

"Hey, you can go fight Dawn for that!"

We both laugh. Barry sure is a fun person. I wonder how his adventure went... Dawn sure does look like a nice girl and a strong trainer. I would love to hear stories about their adventure.

The sun is setting as we reach the river. I release Primarina and Barry releases his Empoleon. We relax and have some dinner at the edge of the river before going back home. He drops me off at my hotel, with a promise of taking me to prof. Rowan tomorrow.

First day in Sinnoh was a success.
