Ch#60: The Last Goodbye
"Truth be told, I had come for you," Said Seokjin, releasing a grieved sigh, "I had come to mourn for our baby, but the scene before my eyes in the elevator blew my mind confoundedly."
Despaired to his soul, he hugged his knees as he sat on the stone cold floor of lockup.
Luna watched him sympathetically as he added.
"You know, not in the entire world is anything more painful than one sided love. And, unfortunately, I have become its victim."
"I understand."
"Yes. Yes, only you can understand me," He gave his head a slow nod, managing to carve a grieved smile on his lips. "No one else understands me, not even she; I immolated every other joy in front of her_ even my child, yet couldn't smudge Jimin's love away from her heart."
The color of Luna's face changed at the remembrance of her child, but she didn't let him know the storms rising inside her chest and spoke up.
"You shouldn't have done this to her."
"Yes, perhaps you're right." He nodded lowly, "I shouldn't have done this to her. Blinded by the curtain of selfishness, I destroyed the lives that were dearest to me in the whole world. What have I done!"
He threw his head in his hands, mourning at all his false decisions. But what could be done now? Everything was destroyed, just because of him.
She sat closer to him and, passing her hand through the iron bars, she took his hands in hers.
"Don't be hopeless," She said, "everything's gonna be okay. You'll be out of here very soon-"
"That doesn't matter," He cut her sentence in the middle, "what matters is how I will be able to confront her, to eye her. What will I reply her when she'll ask me why did I do this. I've felled myself in her eyes to the point she will never forgive me."
Tears rolled down his eyes as he confessed himself her sinner.
"I knew he lives in her soul still I threw him into the brink of death and let her yearn for him."
She opened her mouth to say something but his miserable state made her wordless. There was nothing she could do nor could she say anything, for what he said was right. No matter how much Y/N tried to curtain her love for Jimin, it was a fact that she still lived for him and loved him with all her heart and soul.
Luna knew the decision taken by her best friend was just to lull herself, and nothing else. But she was thankful that, no matter if later, Y/N had known her real destiny. She was happy for her that her best friend wouldn't have to be through any other trial. But she didn't know Y/N's happiness was just a matter of minutes, and the person she loved the most would ruin her best friend's life.
Tightening her grip on Seokjin's hands, she tried to give him one last hope.
"Everything's gonna be okay. Your lawyer is talking to the commissioner."
"I deserve it," He spoke up, "I deserve the penalty for flirting with my beloveds and crushing their trusts. I deserve it."
The clouds of regret and guilt floating in his eyes squeezed the blood from her heart. She just watched him silently.

"Try to understand, Mister Commissioner. That was just an accident. Why would my client intend to shoot his own best friend?"
Said Mr San, Seokjin's personal lawyer. The commissioner shook his head slowly before replying.
"I would have believed you, but this matter is more complicated than you think. This complaint, you must know, is filed by the hotel executive. According to them_ both, Mister Kim Seokjin and Mister Park Jimin, were causing disruption and disturbing the discipline. And...if we take back the arrest warrant, we have to pay a very heavy fine."
"We already have all the information, Commissioner," Namjoon replied instead, "and by the way, where was the executive when my friends started the fight? Didn't they remember their so-called rules and disciplines that time, or they were waiting for any of them to die?"
The commissioner heaved quietly at his argument and said.
"Well that, I would like you to ask the manager."
"No, we would like you to call the manager so that I can ask him."
Spoke Hoseok for the first time, earning a silent stare from from the people in response.
The commissioner, after ruminating deeply at his demand, surrendered.
"Okay."
Hoseok put a hand on Namjoon's shoulder and gave him an assuring nod.
But the manager turned out to be way more guileful than they expected. It was above their mind what his actual plan was.
"My hotel's reputation in the city is affected. The channels are running this news for their ratings. And you still say it's a small matter?"
Said the manager, flailing his hand in the air, and shook his head abruptly at their offer.
"No, either he should get the penalty or you pay the fine."
All, Namjoon, Hoseok, the commissioner, and the lawyer kept their efforts to tame him and released a relieved sigh when he said.
"Okay, but on one condition..."
They looked at each other in confusion and asked in unison.
"What condition?"
"If the guy in the hospital himself gives the narrative of this accident, then perhaps my thoughts change."
Leaning his back against the chair, he said on which both the friends wished to wring his neck.

You sat on the bench near Jimin's bed in the hospital private room, swollen eyes too dry to shed any more tears_ glued on his face; heart reciting his name.
God knew for how long you were sitting, but remembered one thing_ since the doctor told you that the bullet was taken out but due to the depletion he was not completely out of danger and it was quite possible he would regain consciousness in next eight hours...and if not, then the matter could be more complicated than it was now.
Not for one second did your eyes drift from him since then. It was about seven in the morning and those eight hours were almost passed, but he didn't open his eyes, making your heart drown to the core.
The door of the private room slightly opened and you heard steps getting closer towards your direction. The person sat near you but even then you couldn't take your eyes off of Jimin to see who it was.
"I talked to the hotel manager."
You heard Yoongi's voice,
"He wants five billion won in return for taking back his accuse, in other case, Jimin has to narrate about it."
He looked at your still posture, and exhaling a deep sigh, he added.
"It's been a whole night Seokjin is in the lockup. I'm afraid if Jimin doesn't-"
"I can't live without him," You spoke up in the middle, "My life doesn't have any purpose without him. He has to open his eyes, for me."
Yoongi watched you in silence for a few moments, finding himself wordless.
"He had promised me he would stand with me in every situation, every joy and every cry. He is a man of his word, then how can it be that he will not fulfill his words? I live for him, because of him. I live on his promise. He has to listen to me."
That devotion, that unconditional love, that demand_ What was that didn't yearn for him?
Your lips trembled to say something further but your heart didn't have any more energy to spill it out. Words left incomplete in your mind, feelings left unspoken. And where you found yourself unable to express anything more, there was his heart that heard each and every muffled sob of yours. That was his heart which forced him to obey his woman.
A moment passed and his eyelashes quivered.
"Y/N!"
Was the first word his lips cried for.
You jumped up on your feet and leapt to him, followed by Yoongi.
"Minnie!"
You whispered, watching him open his eyes as slowly as possible. Bothered by the light around him, he blinked briefly, trying to get in the view in front of him.
"Y/N!"
He called again, making you get even more closer to him, to assure him you were there_ with him, beside him.
"Minnie, I'm here." You whispered, brushing his hair with your fingers. A faint smile carved on his lips as he found you watching him with eyes kindling with the gloss of love and emotions.
"Don't cry, I'm always with you."
His raspy voice rose up in a whisper, making you smile at him uncontrollably.
"I know." You replied and leaned to plant a soft kiss on his bright forehead.
"Sugar!"
He said, after inhaling your scent deep in his lungs.
"Hmm?!"
"Kiss me on the lips."
You inched back in surprisal, just to find him eye-kissing each and every feature of your face. Your cheeks flashed a lovely pink shade before you leaned again to obey him when Yoongi's throat clearing sound pulled you both out of the pink world.
Flustered to your highest level, you stepped back; letting him get close and ask.
"How are you feeling now?"
"Like strangling you."
Jimin's prompt response, where brought a frown on Yoongi's face, forced you cover your mouth to hide your uncontrollable grin.
"Wha- why?"
"'Cuz you ruined my beautiful moments."
Yoongi chuckled at his words and say.
"Well, that's pleasing to know-"
"What, that I'm pissed off at you?"
Jimin's brows furrowed.
"No," Yoongi let out a small cackle, "That you're back in senses."
Jimin nodded briefly before asking.
"Where are the rest of the party?"
"Taehyung and Jungkook are snoring on the bench outside," He pointed to the window side, "Hoseok and Namjoon are with Seokjin's lawyer in the police station, and Luna is sharing Seokjin's grief."
Jimin frowned at his puzzling explanation.
"What do you mean?"
"Seokjin is in lockup in the accusation of murder attempt. The hotel executive filed this warrant against him."
Yoongi exhaled a sigh, making Jimin's eyes bug out of their sockets. Yoongi continued.
"They're demanding five billions to take back accusation."
"They're fucking out of their minds!"
Jimin exclaimed, trying to sit, "five billion wons? Seriously?"
Both of you and Yoongi leapt to help him sit.
"We're talking to them- " Yoongi said.
"No, it can't be solved like this." Jimin shook his head, plucking off the cannula from his hand, and removed the sheet from himself to stand up.
"What are you doing?"
Both of you and Yoongi asked in unison as you saw him getting up from the bed.
"Going to the police station." He replied, wearing the slippers.
Your eyes widened at his reply.
"Minnie, you need rest."
"Hyung needs my help."
He opened the door and rushed outside, followed by Yoongi and you.
But before you could reach him, he already had settled in the cab, leaving you two behind.

The first thing Jimin did was giving his narrative to the commissioner.
"It all started just because of me," He said, "I hit him first, which enraged him and reacted to my action. The gun that fell from his coat, was for his own security. When we were struggling with it, it was my finger that was on the trigger, which means I was shot by my own hands. He is innocent."
The people present there watched him with widened eyes. All of them had thought Jimin would go against Seokjin, perhaps that was the reason they were trying their best to tackle the issue rather than involving him. But his narrative made it way more easier for them to bail Seokjin. He even paid for his bail, which made them stand still in surprisal.
Seeing his love for his friend, you felt proud of him. You stood there all the time without a word, watching him silently, and feeling your heart flutter at each of his postures.
But that feeling, God knew where, vanished when Seokjin was brought out of the lockup to be released. As both of your eyes met, all the scene of your humiliation flashed back in your head, giving a rise to an uncontrollable ache in your heart.
He lowered his head, not having guts to match his eyes with yours. You blinked briefly to back away your tears and turned your head aside.
After all the necessary steps, all of you were headed towards your vehicles. Seokjin was walking beside you. Despite wanting, your feet still couldn't separate your way from him.
Jimin was two steps ahead of you two. Too many mixed feelings and emotions raised their heads again in his heart. Grief, jealousy, anguish, and God knew how many more. The pain of his physical injury went to level zero compared to his heartache. The halting of his walk got more clear as his feet continued to head toward the exit of the police station.
And his such condition wasn't hidden from you. You knew there were clamps of torturing thoughts attacking his mind. Your heart ripped at each step he took.
As you reached the parking lot, you looked around in search of Yoongi as he brought you here with him.
Finding Jimin standing beside the road for a cab, you scurried towards him_ but to your surprise Seokjin reached there before you.
"Let me take you home, Jimin." He offered, at which Jimin first felled his glance at him, at then at you. A faint smile appeared on his lips.
"No, thanks, hyung. I'll go by myself."
Seokjin's expression fell even more at his reply.
"J- Jimin, I- I'm sorry for- "
He stuttered. Jimin shook his head briefly and chuckled lowly before replying.
"No no, it's okay. Don't be sorry. I understand you. We all are like this when we want to keep people to ourselves we love. If I were you, I would've acted the same, or maybe worse."
Seokjin felt like the pride of his entire existence burned into ashes. The slap of Jimin's forgiveness hurt him way more bitterly than the punch he had received from him. He had thought Jimin would argue with him, fight with him for what he did to him. But here, by forgiving him, Jimin proved to him that the quart of his soul was way more higher and bigger than him.
Seokjin's mouth was left agape. He tried to say something but confessed himself wordless.
Jimin to your direction and felt a pang in his heart as he found your face going all smoke, but he concealed his pain.
"And Y/N, I'm sorry I forgot who you belong to," He said, turning your whole existence into ashes, "I'm sorry I was still in this misunderstanding that I could turn your heart. But I'm happy for you that you found a better match for yourself."
"Jimin- "
Your lips trembled, but he ignored your cry and took your and Seokjin's hand in his.
"I'm a hundred and one percent sure that hyung will keep you happier than anyone else." He turned his head to Seokjin, "You are the luckiest man in this world I've known for you are the rightful owner of her love. Take care of her, hyung. Girls like Miss Han Y/N are hard to find."
He paused for a moment before adding.
"I- wish you all the very best for your married life ahead. And don't think if I'm saying all this to you so I won't attend your wedding. I'll definitely come to attend all the ceremonies."
He looked up just to find you both too mute to form even a single word. His words felt like a train siren to your ears.
"Now, will you excuse me? I have an important work to do. Bye."
He didn't stand longer after that. Throwing you back to the depths of solitudes to die, he left; never turning after.
And Seokjin? He felt like he wasn't even there. Jimin's words made him feel like he had got buried in the ground alive. After all his misbehaviour with him, he didn't expect Jimin to forgive him that easily for he knew ego was Jimin's topmost priority. But he had forgot that there was one thing Jimin never stepped back from_ promises.
