Ch#56: I Care For You

Luna didn't know the mistake she committed was going to become her neck snare. She didn't know the moments in which she lived her entire life's delight would bring her pain and regret for God knew how long. She really did want to forget that night like it never was a part of her life as per Seokjin's order, but what was she going to do with the consequence that had made a home in her body?

She knew that the truth of her getting pregnant with Seokjin's child would ruin the lives of many around her, in the list of which Y/N was topmost. She knew Y/N had borne a lot before and would not be able to survive this revelation, but she also knew hiding this reality would also worsen the situations.

For more than a week she hid this fact in her heart, but as the days passed one by one, her guilt increased. Her sleep was flown, her appetite was gone. All she thought was the repercussions of that accident.

Before the fears swallowed her more, she made her mind to talk to Seokjin about it and called him to meet her at a restaurant.

Sometimes just one mistake can make you repent for your whole life. And I was a living proof of that. Perhaps that guilt and agony was going to be with me till my death. The pain of rejection by Y/N was engulfing me. I didn't have the guts to confront her anymore.

It had been more than a month that I didn't visit her, didn't see my daughter. Even though one of my men was keeping an eye on her to give me the report of her each and every action and move; to update me about my daughter, but I wasn't satisfied. But there was nothing I could do. I had fallen from grace in her eyes to the point that thinking about going in front of her made me feel guilty.

The thought and care of Y/N and Mona were on my mind so much that I had forgotten about Seokjin at all. What he did, where he went; I didn't know anything about it. And I didn't even care about that until one day Taehyung told me something very strange.

"Are you sure about that?"
I asked for the confirmation, receiving an obvious answer from him.

"One hundred and fifty percent."

I squinted my eyes at his confidence level.

"Who told you that?"

"Luna herself, but didn't tell me the reason."

I gave him a slow, thoughtful nod with my eyes fixed on an invisible point.

"Something is fishy." I mumbled lowly. Taehyung joined me with a nod.

"Exactly. Now what that fishy is, we need to know."

I passed him a glare before asking.

"Why didn't you tell me before?"

"I thought you knew it already," He furrowed his brows, "And I tried to gather more information but my FBI is slower than yours."

"I'm not a news reporter." I muttered abruptly, "Plus I didn't need to keep Luna's updates. Oh wait....I guess I needed." I scratched the back of my head. Taehyung rolled his eyes.

"Wow! I thought only I am dumb, but you've proven that you deserve that trophy more than me."

I passed him a death glare at those remarks and said.

"That's my left hand's job."

My inner spy had woken up and now I had to do something to satisfy him. I needed to find out why Seokjin forbade Luna to attend the party. I picked up my phone from the front table and dialled my special spy's number. As soon as he received my call, I gave him some important instructions and hung up the line.

Taehyung watched my every move with an amused expression but said nothing. I stood up from the couch and said in an energized voice.

"So first of all we have to- "

" -wait till Friday."
He cut my sentence, grabbing me by my sleeve and making me sit again.

"What for?" I asked in confusion.

"I wonder if your memory is crashed or what," He rolled his eyes for the thousandth time, "don't you remember it's your meeting day with Mona?"

His last words broke my heart but I maintained my expression and said.

"I do. But you also know that I've stopped meeting Y/N and Mona 'cuz she doesn't want to even see me."

"Listen my broken Romeo," He wrapped his arm around my neck and started talking like a philosopher, "life is not all about achieving your love and living a life full of babies. Sometimes you have to care for them from a distance."

I exhaled a grieved sigh at his philosophical lecture and simply watched him as he continued.

"Sometimes you have to let them move in their lane. Sometimes you have to care for the ones too who are around you, you have to give them your time, your love." He patted my shoulder.

"Be specific, Tae-yah." I said, "Who are you talking about?"

He paused for a few seconds and gave me thoughtful stares before finally saying

"Luna."

"What?" My brows knitted together as I exclaimed, "But why?"

"Because...according to my sixth sense, she's not happy with the wedding decision just like you." He said, scratching his chin.

"You mean to say- " I paused in the mid-sentence, squinting my eyes thoughtfully.

"Yes, that's exactly what I mean."

He replied with a smirk as if he had read my mind. I reflected him the same smirk as I came to a decision.

"So, what are we going to do now?"

He asked out of curiosity. I exhaled a deep breath before saying.

"Keep a watch on Luna and Seokjin. We might get to know something important."

Seokjin adjusted himself in the chair and passed a monotonous glare at Luna who sat apposite to his seat.

"You'd said you wanted to discuss something?"
He asked, giving their talk a start. Luna gulped before replying.

"Yes."

"Go on." He said with a spot expression.

Luna cracked her knuckles nervously, thinking about from where to start. Her confused thoughts were disrupted when she heard Seokjin saying.

"Be quick. I don't have much time. I need to go for a meeting too."

She looked at him at once and nodded.

"Seokjin, I- " She paused again for a second and after collecting all her guts, she spoke up, "I want you to tell Y/N about our one night stand."

"What?" He almost shouted, and after realizing he had gone louder than needed, he leaned forward a little and said in a low volume.

"Are you in your senses? I can't do that."

"Why?" Luna questioned, "You know deep down if this truth reveals after your marriage, it'll cause even more destruction."

"Who will tell her?" Seokjin scoffed.

"My pregnancy." Replied Luna in a spot tone, but Seokjin felt like a bomb exploded in his ears. His eyes widened in disbelief. After a couple of shocked moments, he blinked a few times and licked his lips nervously.

"You- you must be joking." He said, still not wanting to believe.

Luna shook her head.

"I'm not joking, I'm pregnant."

His heart started racing at a high speed as he heard the unwanted truth. He rubbed his temples in frustration.

"I can't bear it. You have to do something." He said, depressed as hell.

Luna's brows lowered at his demand.

"What am I supposed to do?"
She asked in confusion, and when she heard his answer, she felt like the ground under her feet started shaking. Seokjin implemented his command after putting a last decisive look on her.

"Abort the child."

"God! Why is she crying that much?"

Seokjin asked in an irritated way as he noticed people glaring at you both because of Mona crying loudly.

"No idea." You said,  passing a nervous smile to the people while trying to hold her properly.

Mona wasn't a crybaby. She never cried like that. God knew what was the problem. Your mood also got down as you saw Seokjin getting bothered by her such condition.

"It was better to leave her with her father." He mumbled to himself but it was audible enough for you to understand it. It was disappointing how his behavior had changed. He didn't seem like that old Seokjin, who lifted her in his arms for hours before.

A prompt answer came to your mouth to tell him,

*If she's better with her own father then what am I doing with you?*

But, considering the situation, you thought it better to keep quiet and walk behind him; patting Mona's back to hush her down.

"Can I help?"
A deep voice from behind caught your feet. You turned to find Taehyung standing behind you with a mischievous smirk on his lips.

Relax, I just want to make you feel easy." He let out a chuckle as he found you trying to figure out his purpose behind the assist.

"No thanks. I can manage."
You said, turning again to head where Seokjin just went.

"Oh come on. Don't be so into suspicion. I'm just trying to be friendly."

A scoff escaped from your mouth as you heard those words coming from him. You kind of had clue what kind of assistance he could give you. Every time he tried to help you, you ended up with a new problem. This guy was not able to be believed, not one percent.

"I said I don't nee- "

Your words were left incomplete when he took her from your arms and and hushed her.

Amazingly, she stopped crying. You looked away and gulped before saying.

"Thanks."

"Don't even mention it. She's my brother's daughter. And I'm well aware that she has inherited her father's habits. I can understand."

His words froze you at the spot for a second. You were left speechless. Before you gave any reply, your glance fell on Seokjin who was returning with a turtleneck jersey in his hand. His  expression changed at once as he saw Taehyung lifting your daughter.

"What are you doing here?" He asked with brows furrowed.

"You yourself said a while ago that Mona is better with her father. Now as her father wasn't around, so I came to calm her down. You know, I'm her uncle so I can do this job better."

Taehyung answered him quite normally, but still Seokjin felt the taunt badly. You noticed the tension rising again, so came in between and changed the topic.

"Anyways, what's that you got?"

You asked Seokjin, and showed you the jersey and said.

"I got this for you, and I'll love you to try it."

Just then Taehyung's phone rang a message tune which disrupted your reply. You saw him read the message and a grin plastering on his lips. He turned the screen off and put in inside his jeans pocket.

You turned your attention Seokjin who was waiting for your answer. Before you said anything, Taehyung jumped in the talk and retorted.

"Y/N is not a grandma that you chose a hot chocolate color for her." He chuckled, "It's not her choice. As far as I know , her favorite color is blue and black. She mostly likes to wear Vneck or round collar, right?"

His all right guesses surprised you. Even though you never told anyone about your dress likes and dislikes, yet he observed that very keenly.

He turned to the hangers and picked up a black Vneck nylon shirt for you. Showing it to you he said.

"Here, this will suit you better."

Seokjin fumed at him for giving husband vibes. Taking the shirt from his hand, Seokjin hissed.

"Stop behaving like you know everything about her, you're not her husband."

"You don't tolerate her real husband, bearing me is far away."

He scoffed on which Seokjin's hands curved into balls. Before he threw hand on him, you came in front of him.

"Please," You said, "Avoid him. Let's just go."

Taking Mona again from Taehyung, you gave him requesting look before saying.

"Please leave before anything bad happens."

Taehyung gave you a slow, brief nod but stayed silent. You turned to forward towards Seokjin again.

As soon as she turned to head back to Seokjin, I made my way to Taehyung.

He saw me coming towards him and stepped towards me.

"You noticed his expression?"

He questioned as soon as he reached to me. I smirked before nodding. Our mission was completed. We had known that selfish swine had nothing to do with my daughter. All he wanted was to just quench his nasty desires by trampling over my right.

But he was not the only one, Y/N was also involved in it. I could fight the whole world for her, but how would I fight her?

I shrugged the thoughts from my mind and said.

"Anyways, we're not going to disturb them now, but we must keep them in our watch. He might torture her again verbally. We need to know what poison he spills more about me."

He gave a nod and when we turned to move towards where Y/N and Seokjin had just gone, my phone started ringing. I picked up the phone and the news I received made my head spin like a wheel.

"What happened?"
Taehyung inquired as he noticed my changed facial expression.

I put the phone back in my pants pocket and said.

"The truth is revealed."

"What?" He squinted his eyes in confusion.

I looked at him quietly before replying.

"The truth behind Luna's absence. And the reason is also cleared."
