Ch#36: Lost You
Sometimes we think we've got everything we wanted, we think our destiny is in our hands. Sometimes we think everything has become perfect, we have become perfect. But all those times we forget there is one more thing so called fate. When fate plays its turn we can do nothing but just watch it helplessly with open eyes and lifeless body. And one example of it was sitting right in front of me, with eyes piercing into an invisible point and body limp like it had no bones or flesh or blood. Never in my life had I seen Jimin so wrecked, so broken like this. But we couldn't blame anyone else for what had happened. He himself was responsible for that.
No, He was not. I was responsible for that. It was my fault. I shouldn't have given him her number. I shouldn't have shown him her house. I shouldn't have fanned the flames of his enmity. But what could have happened now- nothing. There was nothing we could do, for Y/N had disappeared from sight like she never existed.
I should have stopped her right there when she bumped into my shoulder while I was entering Jimin's apartment. The file slipping down from her hand explained her mental condition to me, and the car keys slipping out of her fingers showed her physical condition. How broken she was that time! I remember, I still remember. But I didn't know she was going to be curtained from our sights, from our lives.
I and Jimin searched ourselves everywhere we could. We couldn't take anyone else's assistance for this chore, not even his guards, or else Yoongi would kill us. It could be our luck Yoongi was out of town for Jimin's manor's case. But I was afraid what would happen when he would come back and find her missing.
It's been days Jimin didn't turn his feet to his mansion. He didn't think of himself, not a bit. His appetite was gone, his sleep was off. All he thought was to bring her back from somewhere, from anywhere.
"At least for once, go to your home. That bastard is despoiling your property one by one and you're here, on roads- excoriating your heels in her search." Sitting on a public bench in a footpath, I said to him. He watched me silently for some seconds and then shook his head.
"I can't."
"Why?" I questioned. I didn't get why he was refusing to go back, he turned his head to the other side but I turned him back to face me.
"Tell me, Chim."
He freed himself from my grip slowly and and heaved sadly,
"My breaths feel to stop in there. Her voice echoes in the entire mansion. Her giggles, her sweet laughters, her I love yous that she repeatedly sang like recitation- each of her small acts she did to me rips my heart Tae-yah. I feel like my own home runs to bite me. I can't stay there for one moment. " His grip tightened at the hold of the bench. His eyes became glossy and voice thickened as he tried to gulp down the lump of tears in his throat.
I put my hand on the back of his hand, "hey, aren't her memories your means of life?!," I asked and he nodded lowly in response.
"Her memories are the only thing because of which I'm still breathing, or I would've died uptil now." Staring at the stone pavement, he replied with a grief sigh.
"Then you must go," At my suggestion, he looked at me with strange eyes, "not thinking that her memories won't let you breath peacefully. Think that at least she would be with you, in your mind,in your heart, in the environment of your home." I said and patted his hand. But I knew he would never agree to go there, so took him there myself.
With every step he took in there, the rising and falling of his chest increased by seconds. He turned his head in every direction like he was searching for something, something he lost by himself. Seeing his worsening condition,I took him to his bedroom.
"I feel her," He said, "she's everywhere Tae-ah. I can see her in everything, I can feel her in every touch. I can hear her in every sound..." His breaths went heavy and his words stuck in his throat. I watched my best friend helplessly with aching heart. I wish I could bring her back in a wink for him. I hugged him tightly and rubbed his back to console him.
"Hey Chim, everything's gonna be fine okay?! Don't worry, we'll find her through any way. She'll be back soon." I assured him, though my own heart doubted my words, but I had to ease his pain. I didn't remember when his heavy breaths turned into sobs. I knew the stings of his qualm were killing him and he couldn't even say a word to anyone.
I stood up and headed towards the bedside table to give him some water to decrease his mental disruption when I heard him saying...
"Give me the packet of cigarettes and a lighter from the drawer."
I gave him a silent look for a moment and opened the drawer. I wanted to forbid him from smoking at wrong time, but I know my buddy, he never listened to anybody.
"There isn't any packet of cigarettes," I said as I rummaged the drawer, "there are just some files." I picked up the files and turned to him.
Seeing those files in my hand, he jumped up and leaping at my hand, he grabbed them. I just watched him opening each of the files one by one with furrowed brows. God knew what he was searching in them.
His hands stopped when a brown file came in his hand. Without wasting a millisecond, he opened it and found a small piece of paper stuck at a side. He took the paper first and his face went pale with every word he read.
