Waking Up on the Wrong Side of the Bed

Scott's alarm started blaring, startling him out of his slumber. It sounded weird to his half asleep ears. Of course that was because he wasn't awake. He blindly reached over to the night stand to stop the horrible sound. He slapped around before finding the screen and sliding the alarm off. Still determined to sleep, Scott rolled around onto his side and reached out for Mitch. Not feeling the small man's presence, Scott moved his arms around Mitch's side of the bed. It was barely warm. "Mitch," he grumbled out with a rough voice filled with sleep.

There was no answer. "Mitch," he asked again as he pulled on the blanket hoping to hear Mitch whining about the covers. Still nothing. Scott decided to crack open his eyes. Mitch wasn't in bed. The blond groaned. He probably had gotten up extra early once he realized Scott had slept with him in the night. The blond frowned at the thought. Barely aware Scott scrambled out of bed to find his other half. He ended up walking into the doorframe for the bedroom. "Aah fuck," he hissed as he rubbed his aching head. Last time he checked the doorframe wasn't there.

Like a drunkard he spread his arms out in front of him to feel around for any other "obstacles" as he cautiously walked out of the room. Oh Mitch would get a kick of this. "Mitch," he called again. Where was that boy? He would never leave Scott alone too long. The natural brunet had done that once one morning and had come home to a fire truck in front of their place. Yeah Scott had tried to cook one of those fancy omelets like at Denny's and had started a grease fire. Hey he said he could sing not cook. "MI-ITCH," Scott whined. He was missing the svelte man in his arms.

Scott knew to be careful for the stairs coming up. They hadn't been in their new house long but crashing twice at the bottom had trained him to count his large gangly steps leading up to the wooden staircase. "Babe," he shouted still trying to wake up. It was like his body wasn't ready for the day. Considering last night....well he kind of agreed. But he needed his Mitch. "Babe," he said again. Maybe it was just him but the floor didn't feel the same underneath his feet. "BA-BY," he shouted. Now he was just getting pissed. He was usually the child when they fought (or so, well....okay everyone said that). Mitch couldn't avoid him all day. Scott wasn't kidding when he said it was hard for them to spend too long apart from each other.

In his half asleep state he heard someone walking from his left. Scott scrunched up his face, completely confused. He was upstairs and there was no room on the other side of the hall. There wasn't another room on the right either, for that matter. If he was counting right, he was too close to the stairs for anything to be coming from any direction except south. DOWN, he meant down. His head wasn't in the gutter he swore. Well, for once.

"Babe what's going on," he heard a voice ask him. Scott's eyes snapped to the source. His eyes widened and the color drained from his face at the sight in front of him.

AN: I couldn't find a way to extend this chapter. Originally it was going to be first part of what is going to be the next one, but I felt like Scott being shocked was the best place to end. I tried finding ways to make Scott's thought process and what's going on more detailed yet everything just flows so well. So that leaves this with being a very short chapter.
