hey guys, welcome to #032 of my graphic portfolio. the theme of this update is primarily graphics for my new steve rogers fic, creature fear and my very old peter parker fic, unspun. they are part of the "silverwood" duology and both feature the web, my fictional crime organisation, as their antagonists. i came up with creature fear early this month while taking some time off work and the way all the pieces are falling into place for me is just... chef's kiss! cf is a standalone but also serves as a spiritual prologue to unspun, and i can't wait to work on both these projects in the new year.

this cover is the one i'm currently using and is extremely simple as it was purposely made to fit in with my cover theme. there is not much else to say other than... yay! cohesion! 😭

this is the "interior" cover i made first for this story. it is inspired by black widow comic covers. as you can see it features photos from mcu projects, which were both fun and tricky to work with—on one hand, they were easy to find and very high definition. on the other, they were boring as hell HAHA

above are two moodboards i made for cf's protagonist, annika van kirk. i published the story without moodboards but ended up making some because it felt wrong to go without. cf and unspun have the same colour scheme and loose visual language since they're interconnected (something i don't usually do for my stories.)

at this point i make a gif every leap year. this one is a "closing" gif, inspired by my love soulofstaars who made a similar one for unspun. i do not enjoy making gifs unless they're for my friends and this one was no different 😭 i have met my personal quota for the foreseeable future!

i also made a new cover for unspun. nothing fancy, i just wanted to look at tom holland's side profile. the green lowkey looks a bit out of place (christmas much?) but it suits the american animals cover. again: Cohesion.

if any of you guys had my other graphic portfolio saved in your library before it was unpublished i apologise for the influx of notifications when i republished it earlier this week 😭 it received a twelveclara rebrand. this portfolio (the one you're reading now) also had a mini theme makeover just because i was getting a bit tired of the old one. for the new covers (and themes) i again went with something super simple. red is my bread and butter, as always.

those two covers complete the above cover theme, which took a while to perfect but now satisfies me 😁 some of the covers use a brighter colouring around the same core colours (red, blue and black) while the others use a more muted version. for a few weeks it looked a bit stupid but now i feel better about it. (i know literally no-one cares but it's important to me 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃)

i am usually much better with working on my requests but i think this one genuinely took over eighteen months? after forever and a day i finally put together a cover theme for my good friend binarysun. i wanted some complexity with these covers as opposed to making them all "simple" (like my own theme, for example.) i also wanted to give anj some of my best work.

when making a cover theme i find it difficult to make good individual covers that also look cohesive together (that's my pet word today, take a shot every time you read it.) so for anj's i used the same colours and, for the most part, the same font, so that everything matches even if the covers take different directions. the most challenging one was it happened one night, but longtime followers of this graphic portfolio know i have beef with "manip" covers. i'm really happy with how it turned out though, as well as the other covers i made!

a big thanks to anj for letting me make these for her and for being so patient with me. i hope the wait was worth it 😭💓
