Sonic and Scourge stand outside Freedom HQ as in front of them was Metal Sonic. But the Ultimate Badnik wasn't alone. It was joined by a robotic copy of our main character, aka Metal Y/n.

"Scanning targets," Metal Y/n spoke in its own computerized voice, not in Eggman's.

"Wait, it can talk?" Sonic asked, shocked since most Metals don't talk.

"Scan complete. Sonic the Hedgehog... Anti-Sonic the Hedgehog, aka Scourge. Threat levels: dangerous," Metal Y/n states and its chest sparks with energy. "Engaging in combat. No mercy. Kill on sight."

Metal Sonic nods and the two charge at the hedgehogs. Metal Sonic went at speed similar to Sonic while Metal Y/n went faster than either organics could react. While they blocked an attack from Metal Sonic, Metal Y/n grabbed them by their legs and lifted them above its head before slamming them into the ground.

Sonic and Scourge both go to Spin Attack the Badniks, only for Scourge's attack to be stopped by Metal Y/n's foot while Metal Sonic smacks its organic counterpart aside. Metal Y/n then kicks Scourge into Sonic who was tossed forward by Metal Sonic, sending them both crashing into each other. The robotic Y/n's chest then glows with sparks running up its torso and to its arm, resulting in an energy blast to fire at the hedgehogs and sending them flying.

"Give up," the machine tells the two. "You cannot win."

"This wasn't the best way to start a fight," Sonic states as he stands and turns to his Anti. "You sure you don't want to do that temporary truce?"

Scourge scoffs and stands to his feet as well, running at his enemies with Sonic behind him.

"You still haven't answered my question about conquering this planet and dominating the multiverse," he states.

"I'm kind of preoccupied with the present right now," the Fastest Thing Alive replies.

"I'll take that as a 'yes'."

New Megaopolis...

Inside the Eggdome, Eggman watches his creations beat down the two hedgehogs 

"Wah-hahahaha! That's it, my mighty Metals!" Eggman laughs and cheers. "Pulverize those rodents!"

On the screen, Sonic goes to tackle Metal Sonic, only to be kicked in the chin. Then Metal Y/n grabs Scourge by the leg, teleports next to Sonic, and slams the Anti into the rodent.

"I am impressed, Doctor," Dimitri walks up to the mad genius. "You have had time to construct two robot dopplegangers, but yet you haven't had the time or the resources to build a new Badnik army to supplement the Dark Egg Legion."

"Hmm? Oh, right. The echidnas," Eggman waves the Grandmaster away. "Later. I'm busy."

"Do remember, Doctor, that the Legionares are my people," Dimitri grabs Eggman's arm with a tentacle. "Some of the last echidnas alive. I will not allow them to be used carelessly."

"Quite the contrary, Dimitri," Eggman grins as he grabs the tentacle. "I plan on using your people to the very last one. Since there are so few, I hope they aren't used up too quickly."

The mad scientist opens a hatch on his seat and hovers his finger over a red button.

"If you have any further complaints over the management of my troops," Eggman says, "you can discuss it with the explosives I put in the cybernetics I supplied them with."

"I-I can't say I'm truly surprised," the ancient echidna states. "I believe I understand the situation now."

"That's my good little subordinate!" Eggman pats his hand on Dimitri. "Now run along and prepare the troops for the next push from the Freedom Fighters, or Chaotix, or whatever."

Dimitri does as he was told and floats away, but glancing back his new boss with a blood red glare. On screen, Metal Y/n fires an energy blast at Scourge.

"Yes. We must prepare for the next threat."

Freedom HQ...

Back at the remains of Knothole, Sonic dodges an energy blast from Metal Y/n.

"Neither of us wants Freedom HQ destroyed!" Sonic tells his Anti. "We need to move this into the Great Wastes!"

"No way!" Scourge says as he tries to shoulder-bash Metal Sonic. "I'm not giving these things an inch!"

"Scourge? Hon?" Fiona calls from inside the HQ. "Do you want us to step in?"

"You sayin' I can't handle this?" Scourge asks his girlfriend, taking his eyes off of Metal Sonic.

Sonic's metal copy goes to grab him, only to be kicked away by Sonic.

"She's saying these things are tough, and you could use a hand!" Sonic declares. "Honestly, it's like you're completely new at this."

"Get off my back, Blue," the green menace barks. "There aren't any 'Metals' on my world. Yeah, so thanks for the save back there."

Sonic gets rammed by Metal Y/n, his face crashing into the ground as he gets dragged through it.

"Don't expect me to return the favor," Scourge crosses his arms with a smirk before he feels something wrap around his leg. "Hm?"

He looks down to see a Metal Sonic's metal claw grab him.

"Ah, shi--"

He gets lifted off of his feet and thrown into a wall.

From a hole made by Metal Y/n's energy blast, Miles watches the fight with an intentive look on his feet.

"You've got that look again, Miles," Boomer tells the twin-tailed fox. "What's on your mind?"

"A curiosity. While I'm quite content to watch two 'Sonics' bludgeoned into nothing," Miles says, "I can't help but notice Sonic's selflessness. He is wholly committed to the greater good."

Sonic notices Scourge being pinned down by his metal copy, taking his eyes off of Metal Y/n and Spin Attacking the Badnik away.

"Regardless of who is involved."

"Careful with what you say, Miles. That's got a twinge of reason to it," Alicia tells the boy genius. "You've seen it all. You know we don't want to cross Scourge."

"Oui," Patch agrees and holds the eye where his eyepatch was. "I remember when zis eyepatch was just for show."

"Yeah," Boomer says. "We're lucky Anarchy is more kindhearted towards us. And I think that's the scary part."

"Oui," Patch says. "We are lucky he listens to you, princesse."

Alicia scoffs and looks away, absent-mindedly rubbing the ring on her finger.

"I'm merely observing that with Sonic present, it wouldn't take much to tip the scales of war in either direction," Miles points out.

The Suppression Squad join Miles at the hole and look out. And they begun to realize... that he was right.

New Megaopolis...

In the Eggdome, the Dark Egg Legion were walking about in their quarters. Dimitri walks up to his granddaughter.

"Come here for a moment," he pulls Lien-Da with him.

"Grandfather?!" Lien-Da questions. "What's the meaning of this?"

"Blast it, he wasn't bluffing," Dimitri tells Lien-Da. "There's a bomb."

"Bomb?"

"In all of us, I'm afraid."

"This is all your fault!" Lien-Da tells her grandfather. "You're the one who sold himself to Eggman first!"

"I came to Eggman for an ally against Enerjak. You sold the Legion to the Empire for your cursed cybernetics," the ancient echidna retorts. "Do not lay this at my... feet."

"So what do we do?" Lien-Da asks her grandfather. "Surely you're not thinking of turning to Knuckles at this point?"

"... no. Not the Guardian. Not yet," Dimitri assures. "I am Grandmaster of the Legion now, Lien-Da. These are my people, and you are the only family ai have left. I'll think of something."

Freedom HQ...

Sonic gets sent flying back from an energy blast from Metal Y/n. Scourge gets sent flying into his counterpart by Metal Sonic, the two crashing into each other and falling to the ground. Then they get back up to their feet as Metal Sonic and Y/n circle them.

"We're getting whooped, and I don't like that," Scourge states. "You're the big hero. Think of something!"

"Last time I got matched blow-for-blow like this," Sonic says, "the only thing to do was bring in someone the bot wasn't designed to handle."

"Oh, come on!" Scourge whines. "You can't mean--"

"They're your team," Sonic tells his Anti. "You make the call."

Scourge growls in anger, but he realizes his counterpart was right.

"Suppression Squad! Attack!"

They all rush in to attack. Against Metal Sonic, it was Sonic with Miles and Fiona who takes the robot apart.

"Bring back memories, Fiona?" Sonic teases the fox.

"In your dreams," she responds.

Against Metal Y/n, Alicia had used her whip to tie up the Badnik as Patch stabbed into it. Then Scourge Spin Attacked it, knocking its head clean off.

"Kneel to the king!"

Boomer then joins in and fires sonic blasts at the two Badniks, sending their bodies flying into parts.

"Now that's more like it!" Sonic says as he kicks around Metal Sonic's head around. "Thanks for the hand!"

"We seem to work surprisingly well together," Miles states.

"You could say that."

"Now back to my offer," Scourge turns to Sonic. "You never said 'no'."

"That's because I was too disgusted for words," Sonic states. "You're sick if you think I'd even consider that."

"Your loss," Scourge holds Fiona close. "Still want to try your luck kicking us all out of Freedom HQ."

As the two doppelgangers talk, Boomer spots something glowing on the floor. He walls up to it and grabs it, revealing it to be some kind of green gemstone.

"What a strange jewel," he tells himself.

The gem suddenly glows and sparks before electrocuting the walrus, making him scream out in pain. Everyone turns to him and calls out to him in worry before the gem blasts Boomer away. Then the strewn about parts of the two fallen Badniks begin to float into the air and fly towards the gemstone.

"The hell is this shi--GAH!" Scourge gets hit by a Badnik part.

"Cela ne peut pas être bon..." Patch says as he raises his blade.

The parts all connect and morph to fit together, reforming Metal Y/n back to pristine condition. Then the gemstone floated in front of it for a moment before slamming back into its chest, reactivating the Badnik.

"Power Gem reacquired. Reconstruction Protocol complete," the robot copy says as its body sparks. "Scanning new targets."

"Hey, Blue?" Scourge calls to Sonic. "Do they ever do this?"

"Not that I remember, no," Sonic shakes his head.

"Scan complete. Targets recognized," Metal Y/n says. "Anti-Sally Acorn, Anti-Rotor Walrus, Anti-Miles 'Tails' Prower, Anti-Antoine D'coolette. Original threat levels: basic. New threat levels: high."

"Basic?!" Alicia repeats in anger.

"Engaging in combat. No mercy. Kill on sight."

"GET THAT HUNK OF SCRAP!" Scourge orders everyone.

They all run at the Badnik and lunge at it, attempting to dogpile and overwhelm it. However, they're all blown back by a blast of electrical energy emitted from Metal Y/n's body. The Suppression Squad and Sonic fall to the ground with grunts and groans as Metal Y/n's body sparks.

"Main objective," Metal Y/n says as it walked forward. "Kill Sonic the Hedgehog."

New Megaopolis...

Back in the Eggdome, Eggman continued to watch the fight.

"Ohohohoho! This new Metal Y/n prototype is perfect!" the evil scientist declares with a laugh. "With that Power Gem and his Copycat Protocol, he's basically unbeatable! Now if I can integrate that into future Metal Sonic models, I'll finally beat Sonic! That is if Metal Y/n doesn't kill him first."

Eggman lets out a mad laughter, enjoying his nemesis getting beat by one of his creations.

Freedom HQ...

Sonic barely dodges a kick from Metal Y/n before Spin Attacking the robot. It stumbles back, but it spins its torso around and turns itself into a spinning blade of death. It knocks Sonic back and then goes around, knocking around the Suppression Squad before Boomer fires his sonic cannons at it. It staggers back and stops spinning, looking at Boomer with neutral evil eyes as the walrus grins.

"Take it!"

He fires his sonic cannons again, only for Metal Y/n to backflip over it and send its own energy blasts at him. He screams in pain as he's sent to the ground. Alicia then wraps her whip around the Badnik, only for it to quickly turn into a spinning blade again and takes Alicia off of her feet. She gets slammed into the ground before Metal Y/n pulls her towards it with her whip and grabs her by the throat. It then turns around and throws the Moebian princess at Miles, knocking them back with grunts.

It then bends forward completely to avoid a kick from Fiona before standing back up and grabbed her leg. Metal Y/n then turns around and slams the fox into the ground, repeating it a few times before tossing her into the wall of Freedom HQ.

"BASTARD!"

Scourge immediately Spin Attacks the metal copy, knocking its head off. The green king laughs, only to stop when Metal Y/n's head to reattach itself to its neck joint. The robot then teleported above the Anti-Sonic and slams its fists into his back, sending him crashing into the ground. Miles then tried to hit the Badnik with his tails, only for Metal Y/n to grabs his tails and throw him into the ground.

It teleports back down to the ground and gets kicked in the back by Sonic. It spins around to swing at the hedgehog, only for the Blue Blur to duck under it and throw rapid punches at Metal Y/n's torso. It swings down at him, only for Sonic to move out of the way but meets a knee to the side of the temple. He flies back and rolls across the ground before slamming into the wall of the Freedom HQ. He then rolls out of the way to avoid a punch from Metal Y/n, resulting in the robot punching a hole in the wall instead of in Sonic.

"Whoa!" he cries out. "Okay, this guy is way tougher than any Metal I've fought before!"

He speeds to the side to avoid another punch and Spin Attacks Metal Y/n. He goes to do it again, only for Metal Y/n to catch it. Then he gets fired away with am energy blast from Metal Y/n, sending him crashing into the ground.

"Initiating extermination."

Metal Y/n dashes over at Sonic, only to be shoulder-bashed by Scourge.

"Hey! The only one who can kill him is me!" he tells the Badnik. "Get that in your head, Egg-brain!"

"Input recognized," Metal Y/n appears before Scourge and kicks him away. "Ignoring input."

The Badnik turns to Sonic, only to be met with a fist to the face. It skids back and a foot kicks its chin.

"Y'know, I always wondered what it would be like if Metal Sonic talked," Sonic says as he pops his neck. "Now I know it's annoying."

Metal Y/n doesn't respond and instead fires an energy blast at him. Sonic dodges it with his super speed and Metal Y/n continues to fire upon him.

"Come on! You have a voice!" Sonic says. "Do some trash talk once or twice at least!"

Metal Y/n teleports to Sonic and elbows him in the gut, knocking him away. When Sonic catches himself, he looks up and at the Badnik's chest. The Power Gem inside of it was sparking, and even looked like it was vibrating. Sonic got an idea.

"Everyone! I have an idea!" Sonic exclaims. "That is, if you want to not die!"

"Like we have a choice!" Miles yells.

"Great! Everyone, keep your distance and let him fire his energy blasts!" the blue hedgehog orders. "We'll overheat him. Take him apart with his power!"

"Sounds like a plan I'd make!" Scourge says. "Okay, Suppression Squad! Keep distance!"

The Suppression Squad all roll their eyes collectively, but they listen. They made sure to attack Metal Y/n but keep their distance when the Badnik retaliates, firing his energy blasts when its target was out of reach. This continues until the Badnik starts to spark and steam and smoke risises from its body. It becomes slower and slower before it starts to catch fire.

New Megaopolis...

"Blast! He overheated!" Eggman slams his hands into his armrests. "I guess I have to add in a coolant system when I'm able to."

Freedom HQ...

Metal Y/n stops its attacks and looks at its targets. Its head jittered and jolted with sparks as fire rose from some of his joints.

"Self analysis complete. Damage critical. Cause: overheating. Attempts at further conflict will result in destruction," Metal Y/n sparks with green energy. "Initiating tactical retreat. I will return, Sonic."

In a flash of green, Metal Y/n vanishes from sight. Sonic and the Suppression Squad all look at where the Badnik once was before they all fall to their feet, sighs and gasps escaping all of their mouths.

"I hate to admit this, but that seriously sucked,"  Scourge states. "Hey, Blue? Wanna pick up our fight some other time?"

"Yeah," Sonic gasps. "I guess I can give you an extended lease on HQ for now. Just know I'll be back to take it back."

"Yeah, yeah," the green menace takes in a breath. "Good luck with that."

Sonic chuckled before getting to his feet and dashing off back to New Mobotropolis.

Timeskip...

After returning to New Mobotropolis, Sonic was getting a lecture from Elias.

"... and while I don't mind personally, I can't just let you blow us off without any consequence!"

"Listen, Elias. I know you've got enough on your plate as it is," Sonic says, "but nobody is going to tell what I can and can't do if I'm in the right."

"I don't understand how you dated him for as long as you did," Elias tells his sister.

"That kind of thick-headedness has a certain charm," Sally smiles.

"Regardless, the Acorn Council has voted," the king says. "Your punishment is... you take the lead in the next big mission."

"What mission?" Sonic turns to his ex. "Sally, what's your brother talking about?"

"I'll show you," Sally says as she grabs Sonic by the arm and leads him outside.

They walk with each other before Sonic sees...

"The Science Center? What, am I playing leg hedgehog for Rotor?"

"Something like that."

The two enter inside, only to see Chuck, Tails, and Rotor working on something.

"Wait... new Star Posts?" Sonic questions.

"Exactly. Turnabout is fair play," Sally says and smirks. "If this works, we may be able to find Y/n and Nicole. So pack your bags, Sonic. You're invading Moebius."

"Sweet!" Sonic grins.
