In the medical bay, Y/n is seen lying on the bed he was last seen on in "Truth Of The Heart". However, he begins stir a bit as he groans quietly. He then pushes himself to sit up and holds his head in pain, his entire body aching. Then he finally opens his eyes to look around.

"Eh...? The medical bay...?" he questions before holding his chest in pain. "Grk...!"

"Hey-hey-hey! Look who's up!"

Y/n turns his head to see Danny walking up to him, a smile on the lion's face.

"Danny...?" Y/n questions. "Wh-what happened to Anarchy...? Was Scourge with him?"

"Don't worry, pal. They're gone for now," Danny says and stops right next to Y/n's bed. "And... so is Fiona."

"Fiona?" Y/n asked and began to worry. "What happened? Is she okay?"

"She's fine, but," Danny scowls, "she didn't leave Sonic's heart okay."

"What happened?"

"She betrayed us," Danny replies. "She was with Scourge the entire time."

Y/n was shocked, but he wasn't totally surprised. Fiona always seemed sketchy to him, even if he accepted her and her past.

"Crap..." Y/n lies back down.

"Yeah. And you really gave us a scare, pal," Danny tells Y/n. "Had us all worried. Sally most of all."

"Crap... I'm sorry, man," Y/n apologizes and sits back up. "How long have I been out?"

"Only a few days," Danny says. "Almost thought you'd miss the big day."

"Big day"?"

"Yeah! After the whole Scourge and Fiona thing, Antoine heard about it and decided to finally propose to Bunnie," Danny informs his best friend. "Great, right?"

"Yeah," Y/n nods. "Definitely."

Y/n then tries to hop off the bed he was on, landing on his feet and takes a step only to nearly fall to the floor if it wasn't for Danny.

"Hey, wait a sec, bud," the lion tells the human. "You still gotta heal. You aren't fully recovered yet."

"I'm fine, just a few aches and bruises," Y/n says and stands up. "I'm not gonna get all better by doing nothing."

"I guess you're right."

Danny laughs a bit before motioning for Y/n to follow him.

"C'mon! We gotta get you prepared!" Danny exclaims. "The wedding's tomorrow!"

The Next Day...

In the Hedgehog Household, Sonic is seen looking at himself in a mirror with a suit on with his Uncle Chuck beside him.

"And here I thought you weren't one for titles, Sonic," Chuck tells his nephew.

"I'll make an exception on this one, Uncle Chuck," Sonic says as he adjusts his overjacket. "It's not every day you get to be best man for your buddy's wedding."

Sonic then tightens his red bowtie.

"But after the whole Fiona thing, I'm okay with flying solo for now."

"Still maybe Antoine could return the favor one day?" Chuck asks his nephew with a chuckle. "Never say never, m'boy."

"Sonic!" Tails calls out to his best friend as he enters the room, a suit on as well. "Let's go!"

Sonic nods and walks out of the room and to the living room, joining Tails as they walk to the front door.

"Bye, Mr. and Mrs. Hedgehog!" Tails waves Sonic's parents goodbye.

"We're off to bug the groom, Mom," Sonic tells his mother.

"We'll see you boys at the wedding!" Jules tells his son.

"And none of your running!" Sonic's mother tells her son as she adjusts her husband's bowtie. "You don't want your nice clothes all dusty!"

Sonic laughs a bit as he steps out of his home with Tails, the duo making their way to Antoine's home.

"Are you're folks that bad, Tails?" Sonic asks Tails, referring to how his own parents were acting.

"Worse!" Tails replies. "And that's why I love 'em!"

"I hear that," Sonic says and starts to mess with his best friend. "You're looking pretty sharp, man. Hoping to catch someone's eye?"

"Cut it out! I'm dressed up because that's because what we're supposed to do," Tails said with a smile before it drops. "Although... I was hoping me and Fiona one day..."

Tails trails off as he remembers what Fiona did to him a few days ago.

"Ah, forget her, man. You can do a lot better," Sonic assures the young fox as they arrive at Antoine's home. "And you've got plenty of time."

"You're tell me to slow down?" Tails asks Sonic as they enter the house.

Sonic chuckles as they walk down the stairs to see a nervous Antoine sitting on a chair with a glass of water. He was shaking and sweating as Vector the Crocodile gives him advice.

"Vector is giving advice?" Sonic asks knuckles.

"Whether Antoine wants it or not," Knuckles laughs. "Ready to be the best man?"

"I've always been "best man"," Sonic jokes. "Where's Espio?"

"He's on a mission," Knuckles informs. "He said he'd be back in time for the ceremony."

"Right," Sonic says. "And Y/n? He's not one to miss out on things like this. And I'm sure he would love to see Sally in a dress."

Knuckles laughs a bit.

"While that may be true, he said he had something important to do," the red echidna states. "Something only Merlin could help him with, he said."

Meanwhile...

With Y/n, he's seen in a suit and tie like almost everyone else. His left arm was in a thin cast as well.

He made his way to Merlin's home and found himself at his front door. He knocks a few time with his good hand, waiting for a moment until the door opens to reveal Tails' uncle.

"Oh, hello, Y/n," Merlin greets the human. "Shouldn't you be getting ready for the wedding?"

"Yeah, but... this is important," Y/n states. "I need your help with something."

Merlin hums in thought for a moment before walking back inside his house, motioning for Y/n to follow.

"Come on, then," he says. "Let us not waste time."

Smiling, Y/n walks inside Merlin's home and closes the door behind him. He looks inside, seeing that it was just like almost every other home in Knothole.

"Nice place."

"Thank you," Merlin says. "Now, what is it that you need me for?"

"Okay. So, um, I kinda have amnesia, I guess?" Y/n told Merlin. "I have some idea of who I am and what my past was, but I don't have everything."

"And I presume you think I can aid you in finding your past?" Merlin asks.

Y/n nods.

"Yes," he says. "Can you help me?"

Merlin smiles kindly at the human Chaos Energy manipulator and lets out a small laugh.

"Why, of course," Merlin says. "May I see your gem?"

Y/n nods and takes his Chaos Gem from around his neck, handing it to Merlin who examines it for a few moments. Then he sits down on the ground, motioning for Y/n to do the same.

"Are you sure you wish to do this, young one?" Merlin asks as Y/n sits down. "Sometimes, the truth is not something that heals you."

"I want this," Y/n says, determined. "I need to know."

"As you wish," Merlin places Y/n's Chaos Gem in between him and the human. "Close your eyes and calm your mind."

Y/n does as he's told, closing his eyes as he took deep breathes to calm himself and his mind.

"Now, think of what you want," Merlin instructs Y/n. "Let the memories you have play in your mind as you call upon the rest of your memories to play along."

Y/n does as instructed, recalling the memory fragments he already has. Then, as he begins to concentrate, his Chaos Gem begins to glow a bright green. Then Y/n hears a voice call out his name...

"Y/N! DON'T DO IT!"

... and a flash of green light covers everything.

When it fades, Y/n opens his eyes to see  that he was in the same place he was when he, Sonic, Shadow, and NICOLE went into Gerald's diary. It was just like the hallway from that day.

He stands to his feet and looks around, Merlin appearing next to him right after.

"Hmm. Seems we are in a space craft of sorts," the fox observes.

"Space Colony Ark..." Y/n mumbles to himself as he looks around.

He turns to one of the many windows, walking up to it and placing his hand on the plane as he looks down to see his planet, just like in the diary.

"It's brighter than back then..." he said to himself and turns to Merlin. "What is this?"

"I had your Chaos Gem access one of your core memories and place us inside of it," Merlin states and looks around. "I wonder what this memory is."

Y/n walks away from the window and walks around the hallway before he hears a familiar voice.

"Come on, Y/n!" the voice says. "If you go any slower, we'll miss the comet!"

"If you stop pulling on me, then maybe I can properly walk!"

Y/n turns to see a younger him wearing a messy black suit being dragged by Maria who was wearing a blue dress. The two looked so happy as they passed Y/n and Merlin, not paying them any mind.

"Can they not see us?" Y/n asks Merlin.

"To them, we are basically nonexistent," Merlin tells Y/n. "Besides, this is only a memory. The only way for them to see us is if this had already happened."

Y/n nods as he watches the younger him get dragged down the hall by Maria, both of them with a smile. They turn a corner and leave Y/n's sight, only to almost immediately start running back towards the way the came with Shadow pulling them along as soldiers chased after the three.

"No..." Y/n's eyes dilate as he watches the soldiers chase after him, Maria, and Shadow. "No...!"

Having a feeling that he knows what's gonna happen as everything starts to slowly come back to him, Y/n follows the soldiers chasing the frantic trio down the hall. Merlin watches Y/n run after his younger self with no movement before slowly following the human.

Y/n chases the soldiers, his heart beating rapidly against his chest as he runs as fast as he could. He makes it to the escape pod bay to see soldiers inside, Shadow in a escape pod with Maria and the younger Y/n at the controls. One of the soldiers aims his gun at Maria, making Shadow's eyes widen in fear just as the younger Y/n takes notice of the soldiers, his eyes widening in fear as well.

A gunshot goes off, hitting Maria and making her fall to the ground.

"Maria! Y/n! No!" Shadow cries out with tears in his eyes, slamming his fist into the glass and cracking it.

Taking a step back, Y/n becomes terrified for his own life before he looks at the eject button for Shadow's escape pod.

"Y/N!" Shadow calls out to the boy as he realizes what he's thinking. "DON'T DO IT!"

Thinking quickly, Y/n doesn't listen to the Ultimate Lifeform and slams his hand down on the eject button. This sends Shadow's pod shooting out of the Ark and towards the planet below just as a gunshot goes off. Y/n's leg buckles before he collapses on to the ground, blood leaking from his leg wound.

The present time Y/n watches all of this, his breathe panicked and uneven as he takes some steps back before falling down to his butt. The soliders don't finish the younger Y/n off and eject the rest of the escape pods before leaving the younger Y/n to bleed on the floor.

Everything then stops as Merlin finally walks up to Y/n.

"So... is this what you wanted to find out?" he asks and Y/n doesn't respond. "As I said, sometimes the truth is not healing."

Y/n stays quiet, making Merlin sigh before everything is covered by a green light once more. When it vanishes, Y/n opens his eyes to see that he was back in Merlin's home, sitting across from the fox with his Chaos Gem in between the two. Merlin opens his eyes.

"So... is this what you wanted, Y/n?"

Y/n looks down at the ground before looking at his Chaos Gem. He doesn't respond as he grabs his gemstone and stands up as he puts the gem back around his neck.

"Y/n?" Merlin questions as the human boy walks to the door.

"Let's just go to the wedding," Y/n says softly. "I don't wanna be late."

And with that, Y/n walks out and makes his way to the happiest day Antoine and Bunnie will probably ever have.

Meanwhile...

Meanwhile, with Espio, he may be having his last day.

"You... I've read you plans! The won't work!" the chameleon tells the enemy of all of Mobius. "They'll see it coming! They'll save me!"

"Then you must've misread the report."

A green beam of energy strikes Espio, covering his entire body as it slowly vanishes.

Then the one who fired laughs as it reveals to be Eggman with a gauntlet on his hand, an evil smile on his face as he speaks once more.

"They don't stand a chance."
