"Y/n!"

Chaos Y/n looked up from his hands and to Sally, seeing her approach him. However, when she got close enough, he just let out a breath and reared his arm back.

"Y/n, I need to--" Sally tries to say, only to get slapped by her friend and fell to the ground.

Everyone who saw was shocked at what their friend did, and none were more shocked than Sally who shook her head from the pain.

"Y/n...?" she questioned as she looked up at the human, only to be met with cold purple eyes.

"Did you honestly think I would allow vermin like you to touch me, let alone get near me without my permission?" Chaos Y/n asks Sally, his voice somewhat deeper than normal. "Please! And here I thought a princess would know to show the proper respect to a god."

"A god...?" Sally questions as she stands to her feet, her cheek still hurting from the slap. "Y/n, are you okay? W-why did you...?"

"Would you be quiet?"

Chaos Y/n went to go for another slap, but it was caught by an angered Super Sonic who pushed him back.

"That's enough, Y/n!" Super Sonic tells the human. "You need to revert now!"

"Ah, yes. "Super Sonic" I would presume?" Chaos Y/n asks the hedgehog. "If you actually believe you can stop me, then you're sadly mistaken."

"Hmph. I don't know what's gotten into you, pal, but whatever it is, it wasn't caused by Finitevus," Super Sonic says as he smirks and gets ready to fight. "So it looks like I'm gonna be fighting you after all!"

"Come and try it, hedgehog."

Super Sonic grins before rushing at Chaos Y/n and headbutting him away.

"Sonic, wait!" Sally calls out to Super Sonic, but she was too late as he already gave chase.

Once he reached Chaos Y/n, he unleashed a flurry of punches on him before kicking him away. Then he Spin Attacked him, sending his friend into the air and then appeared above him to kick him back into the ground.

However, the Chaos Energy manipulator landed on his feet, cracking the earth below him. Then Super Sonic threw a thin blast of energy at him, but Chaos Y/n barely moves out of the way and hits the attack, redirecting it high into the air much to Super Sonic's surprise.

"No way!"

Then Chaos Y/n smirked before aiming a single palm at the golden hedgehog.

"CHAOS TORRENT!"

A giant blast of purple energy shoots at Super Sonic who Spin Dashes right through it. However, Chaos Y/n flew right up to him and they started to trade blow after blow with each other.

Chaos Y/n then kicked Super Sonic away who immediately corrected himself in midair. He smirks at his emerald-haired friend.

"Not bad, Y/n. Not bad at all," Super Sonic says as he charges his aura around him. "It's kinda hard to do this, but you hurt Sally, so I'm also okay with it!"

"Please. I'll send you to Hell," Chaos Y/n states calmly with no fear in his eyes.

Super Sonic charged right at the human, a Spin Attack ready as he crashes into Chaos Y/n. A loud shockwave goes off, signaling the force of the impact of Super Sonic's attack. However, Chaos Y/n seemed to be unmoving as he looked bored.

He clicks his teeth and slams an elbow into the golden hedgehog, sending him crashing into the ground below. Dust explodes around him before it settles, revealing that the Super State had been knocked out of the hedgehog. Chaos Y/n looks down at his work when, suddenly, Shadow teleports above him from nowhere.

"That's enough, Y/n!" Shadow declares as he goes for a punch, only to be sent to the ground.

Chaos Y/n laughs as he teleports to the ground.

"What was that pathetic attempt?" the human asks. "So much for the "Ultimate Lifeform"."

Chaos Y/n then aimed his palm at the crater Shadow landed in, a purple ball of energy forming in his hand as it charges its power. However, before he could fire it, a familiar voice stops him.

"Y/n! Stop this!"

The human turns his body to see Sally running up to him.

"Please! Stop!" Sally tells Chaos Y/n with tears in her eyes. "This isn't you... Why are you attacking your friends? Us...? Me?"

Chaos Y/n looked at Sally with a dumbfounded look before he lets out a hardy laugh.

"Hahaha! You're crying over this pathetic little human? I can't believe it!" Chaos Y/n laughs to himself as Sally looked confused. "Oh, man! You really do care for him, don't you?"

"I-I-I... I don't understand," Sally says. "What are you talking about?"

"What I'm saying is that your beloved little human isn't in control of this vessel! Not anymore!"

"If you're not Y/n... then who are you?"

Chaos Y/n simply smirks as he teleports in front of Sally and then whispering in her ear...

"Maybe a certain mammoth can tell you all about me~"

Sally widens her eyes a bit as a small blush forms on her muzzle just as Chaos Y/n slams his knee into her stomach.

"Your god, Nazo the Destroyer!"

Sally falls to the ground, holding her stomach in pain as tears leak from her eyes. She looks up at the her friend who was being controlled by "Nazo", fear in her eyes as the human just grins at her. Then he looks up to Angel Island with that same grin before teleporting away.

Knuckles then runs over to Sally with Julie-Su right behind him.

"Sally, are you alright?" the red echidna asks the princess, helping her to her feet. "You're not hurt too much, are you?"

"A-actually... it doesn't hurt all that much..." Sally says as she slowly stands to her feet. "I-I don't think he was actually trying to hurt me..."

"Sally, what are you talking about?" Julie-Su asked. "He just kneed you and left you on the ground!"

"Y/n has gone out of control!" Knuckles exclaims. "We have to stop him!"

"N-no! You can't hurt him!" Sally tells Knuckles. "He's not himself! He's being controlled!"

"What are you talking about?"

"He told me himself. This guy... Nazo. He's controlling Y/n," Sally states. "We have to help him!"

"Who's "Nazo"?" Knuckles asks the princess.

"I-I don't know," Sally says and gains a determined look on her face, "but I'm gonna find out."

"How?" Julie-Su asks.

"You two bring Shadow and Sonic to the med bay and get them healed up," Sally says and begins to make her way back to New Mobotropolis. "I'm going to have a word with an old "friend"."

Meanwhile...

Meanwhile, back on Angel Island, a Warp Ring appears in the Chaos Chamber. Out of it steps Dr. Finitevus, an angry look on his face as he clenched his fists.

"Dammit! Those stupid pests ruined my plans!" the white echidna says to himself. "I need to find a way to get back at them, especially that human brat."

"Is that so?"

Finitevus jumps a bit in fright as he didn't expect anyone else to be in the Chamber with him. He spins around to see the very same human he was speaking about, still with green hair and purple eyes.

"Y-you! What are you doing here?!" Finitevus asks the human.

"I'm here because you can help me get my plans back on track," the controlled human states as his hair reverts to normal color, but his hair stays slightly spiked up as his eyes go from purple to emerald green. "You're am expert in Chaos Energies and on the Master Emerald, while I am not."

Y/n walks up to Finitevus who seemed a bit shaken. It made sense, though. He had witnessed his ultimate weapon get demolished by the very same person in front of him. What hope could he muster to make even think he can fight him?

"And you're going to help me get my body back."

Now Finitevus was just confused.

"Wh-what? What do you mean?"

"Does no one recognize a god's power when they see it? Let alone the god himself?" Y/n asks the echidna before grabbing his throat and pulling him close to his face. "I am Nazo, the Great Destroyer of Worlds. And you're going to prepare the Master Emerald to manifest my body back to its former glory so I can leave this... limiting puppet. Do you understand, Finitevus?"

The human squeezes Finitevus' neck slightly, but it felt extremely painful to the echidna. He immediately nods frantically, making Y/n smile with evil glee before he throws Finitevus to the ground.

"Good," he says. "Now prepare the Master Emerald! I have a feeling resistance won't be far behind."

Finitevus, in fear for his life, nods before scrambling to his feet and running towards the Master Emerald to get it ready. Y/n smirks as Nazo, as he has been, talks with his mouth.

"Don't you see it, Y/n? The beauty of it?" Nazo asks the human he's controlling. "You're helping a deity regain his rightful power! How unfortunate you won't be around to bask in my glory."

Nazo laughs, the clouds darkening in the sky as thunder roars above.

Timeskip...

Later in New Mobotropolis, after Sonic and Shadow have been brought to the med bay, Sally is seen walking into the detention center and past the cells that held their prisoners.

"Well, I'll be!" Nack the Weasel says. "Ain't it the princess!"

"Hey! Hey! Hey!" Bean calls to her. "Whatcha doing down here with us?"

The other prisoners try to get the princess' attention, but she ignored them as she approached the cell at the end of the hall where a certain mammoth was reading a book. Sally steps up to his cell and Mogul lowers his book.

"So, what do I owe the pleasure, princess?" Mogul looks at Sally who had her arms crossed.

"My friend is in danger and needs help," Sally states. "What do you know about a "Nazo"?"

Mogul chokes on his own spit at the mention of Nazo, catching him off-guard before he caught his breathe.

"H-how do you know that name?" the mammoth asks Sally.

"So you do know who he is."

"Know him? He nearly destroyed this entire planet centuries ago!" Mogul exclaims. "If it wasn't for the alliance between my Order of Ixis and the Albion Knights of Aurora, you wouldn't even be here! None of us would be!"

"What are you talking about?" Sally asks the mammoth.

"How much do you know about Enerjak?" Mogul asks the princess.

"Enough," Sally answers. "Dimitri, one of the past users of Enerjak's power, told us a lot about him. Why?"

"Has he told you that the Ancient Walkers gave the original Enerjak his power?" Mogul asks and Sally nods. "He was wrong. Dead wrong."

"What are you talking about?"

"Millenniums ago, a being known as Nazo was a being conceived from nothing but Negative Chaos Energy . A literal god, unlike Enerjak who had the powers of one," Mogul informs the princess. "Long before the time of Enerjak, Nazo was thought to have been killed by a warrior composed of nothing else but Positive Chaos Energy. However, his spirit and energy lived on through the Chaos Force, hoping to enact his "righteous" revenge. He came across the scientist who was the first Enerjak, posing as the Ancient Walkers themselves and took him as his vessel, creating--"

"--creating the first Enerjak..." Sally finishes for the mammoth, a bit confused. "But how? Wouldn't the Ancient Walkers have tried to stop him?"

"Even if they did, it wouldn't have done much," Mogul states. "While they were only the god-like beings that knew more about the Chaos Force than anyone, they were no match for a being purely composed of that same power. I should know. I fought him, and he was the reason I escaped my prison."

Sally's eyes widened at this statement. If Nazo was the reason that Mammoth Mogul escaped his prison, then that means...

"He killed the Ancient Walkers..."

"Indeed. And he is so much stronger," Mogul informs. "When he once again took control of another Enerjak, he planned to destroy the world. If it wasn't for the combined strength of my Order and the Knights of Aurora, you wouldn't be here."

Sally took a step back in distraught. She couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"Why do you wish to know this, princess?" Mogul asks Sally who didn't answer, only for the mammoth to realize the reason. "He has taken control of one of your precious Freedom Fighters, hasn't he? The human Y/n, I would assume."

Sally looked at Mogul in surprise.

"H-how did you know that?" she asked.

"It would be the only logical choice. That boy has a strong connection to the Chaos Force, and he has displayed powers extremely similar to Nazo's. And it also means he must be destroyed," the large Mobian states. "If you give me a Chaos Emerald, I would be more than happy to--"

"NO! You're not touching my Y/n!" Sally barks at the mammoth, not even realizing what she said. "And there's no way in Hell I'm gonna let him get destroyed!"

Mogul looks at the chipmunk princess in curiosity. But, in the end, he shrugged his shoulders.

"Suit yourself," he goes back to his book. "Have fun fighting a being not even Perfect Chaos could compete with."

Sally glares at Mogul for a good moment before turning away and leaving the detention center.

Meanwhile...

Meanwhile, in the med bay, both Sonic and Shadow have woken up and have been treated accordingly.

"Are you alright now, Sonic?" Dr. Quack asks the blue hedgehog.

"Yeah. All good here," Sonic says and hops on to his feet, stretching before he turns to Shadow. "What about you, Faker? All better?"

Shadow looks at Sonic and glares at him before he teleports right up to the blue speedster. In only a matter of seconds, he grabs the hero's throat and lifts him into the air, shocking everyone as they tell him to stop. He doesn't listen.

"What's wrong with Y/n?!" he asks Sonic.

"What?"

"Tell me now, Sonic!" Shadow orders. "I know you know!"

"Look, his powers must've gone on the fritz, or something!" Sonic states. "He isn't in control of himself!"

"No one is that coordinated when they go berserk!" Shadow says and tighten his grip on Sonic's throat. "Now tell me how to help him, OR I'LL CRUSH YOUR WINDPIPE!"

"That's enough, Shadow! Put him down."

The black and red hedgehog turns to see an angry Sally enter the med bay. However, he doesn't listen as he narrows his eyes at her.

"Then tell me WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY ONLY FRIEND!"

"He's being controlled by someone called Nazo," Sally states. "I'll explain more, but put Sonic down first."

Shadow keeps his hold on Sonic for only a moment longer before he lets the hedgehog down on his feet. Sonic falls back down on to the bed he was on earlier and tries to catch his breath. He looks up at Shadow as he rubs his sore throat.

'Jeez... I didn't know you cared about someone so much."

Shadow just clicks his teeth, ignoring Sonic as he looks at Sally.

"Explain what's going on," he orders her.

"A being known as Nazo has taken control of his mind, Shadow," Sally tells the Ultimate Lifeform. "We need to act now to save him."

"Sally, that may be near impossible," Nicole says as she materializes. "He was able to perfectly handle Sonic in his Super State and took care of Shadow like he was nothing. Our chance of success would be--"

"If we have even the slightest chance to save Y/n, we have to take it!" Sally exclaims. "We have to do it! We don't leave friends behind!"

"Sal's right," Sonic says as he stands back on to his feet. "Y/n would do the same for any of us, and he's our friend. We have to do whatever it takes to get him back and save the day as always."

"Y/n is my friend... my only friend. I couldn't live with myself if I don't save him," Shadow states as he looks down. "I will also do whatever it takes to save him."

"You can count me in as well," Knuckles says as he steps forward. "Y/n, being himself or not, saved me from Enerjak. I need to return the favor."

"Me, too!" Tails steps forward. "Y/n's my friend. I wanna help him!"

Sally smiles as she looks at her willing friends, but Nicole looked terrified.

"Everyone, please stop this! What you're suggesting is madness!" the AI exclaims. "I want to save our friend, too, but this is basically impossible!"

"From what I remember, we've done the impossible before, Nicole," Sally tells the Holo-Lynx. "This will be no different."

Nicole wanted to retaliate, but she knew her friend had a point. She couldn't help but let her do what she wanted.

"I... I understand, Sally," Nicole says as she rubs her arm. "Just... if you're able to... please get Y/n back."

"That's the plan, Nicole," Sally assures the AI, making her smile in comfort. 'Don't worry, Y/n. We'll get you back. I promise you.'

Angel Island...

Back on Angel Island, Y/n, still being controlled by Nazo, looked at the Master Emerald as it shined brightly. Finitevus was in front of it as his hands glowed brightly as well, some black particles flowing around him as well as he prepares the Master Emerald for Nazo.

"Soon," the possessed human tells himself. "Soon I will be returned to my former glory, and continue on my path of righteous judgement."

The human smirks as he crosses his arms, but he turns when he senses the use of Chaos Control. He sees Sally, Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, and Tails standing together with all of them either looking angry or determined.

"Nazo! Give us back Y/n, now!" Sally orders the god.

"Give him back? Hahaha! How priceless!" Nazo tells the princess. "He isn't yours. He doesn't belong to anyone! All I'm doing is having him help me!"

"What you're doing is going to cost lives, pal!" Sonic states. "We can't let that happen!"

"Let Y/n go now," Shadow glares at the possessed human, "or face death."

Nazo tilts his head as he looks at his opponents, amused at their banter before Finitevus speaks.

"Nazo! The Master Emerald is ready!" he says. "Y-your body awaits you!"

Nazo glances at Finitevus with an evil smile before teleporting on top of the Master Emerald. Finitevus looks at Shadow and the Freedom Fighters before taking out a Warp Ring and using it to escape.

"Hahaha! You're too late, mortals! The Master Emerald is ready for my body to be reborn!" Nazo tells the heroes via Y/n's body.

"And what about Y/n?" Knuckles asks, gritting his teeth.

"Oh, he'll be all yours again, echidna," the human smirks. "But what good will that do? He'll be useless to both of us by then!"

"What are you talking about?" Sally and Shadow ask at the same time, only making Nazo make Y/n smirk even wider.

"Oh, you'll see."

Sonic growls as he steps forward.

"This doesn't need to go this way!" the blue hedgehog tells Nazo. "Just give us back Y/n and no one gets hurt!"

"Oh, you can have him back alright."

The possessed human begins to laugh maniacally as the entire island begins to shake. The Master Emerald glows brightly before exploding in light, a pillar of green energy shooting off into the sky as it engulfs Y/n's body. Sally looks up at the pillar in terror, spotting Y/n's laughing figure in the green pillar. However, the figure starts to split in two as the second one is shown to be smaller with a more spiked head.

Soon the beam dissipates, leaving a smoking Y/n in its wake who's eyes were completely blank. He teeters for a moment before falling off the Master Emerald and rolling down the stairs.

"Y/n!" Sally calls out to her friend as she runs up to him.

She kneels down next to his body and rolls him to his back, revealing his mostly limp body and slacked jaw. His eyes were empty as the gemstone now permanently lodged in his chest had no shine to it at all.

"Y/n...? Are you okay?" Sally asks as she shakes her friend's body to wake him, tears forming in her eyes once again from fear. "Come on, wake up! You can't do this to me! Y/N!"

There was no answer from the limp human. Tears were rolling down Sally's face as Y/n seemed dead to everyone. Then laughter is heard at the Master Emerald, the smoke around it fading away as it reveal a light blue hedgehog.

"Finally! After millenniums of being nothing but a spirit...

... I have returned!"

"No..."

"No way!"

Nazo laughs to himself again as he looks at his hands, closing and opening them as he smirks.

"After all this time.... I can hardly believe it myself!" Nazo declares. "But no matter. It's time I got back to business!"

The Master Emerald began to glow again as sparks shot from it. One hits the ground next to Sally and Y/n's body, sending them flying back with some rubble from the blast.

"WITNESS THE RAW POWER OF CHAOS!" Nazo exclaims as another bright flash of light engulfs the island.

Tons of force was being exerted from the hedgehog, blowing things away as our heroes had trouble staying grounded.

"S-so much power!" Shadow manages to say as he slides back a bit, along with the others.

Finally, the light fades away and our heroes look back up at the deity to see his blue quills were now an emerald green with black highlights. Purple electricity dances around him as he smirks.

"Now...

... who's ready to fight a god?!"
