CHAPTERTHREE_ADVANCED ENHANCEMENTS ARE REAL

September 8, 2032

It’s now afternoon. Aaron and Ellie’s new friends arrived at their house. Everyone were dressed in regular, casual clothes. Ellie walked into the living area, holding her tablet.

She announced to everyone in the room, “Okay, the movie I just pirated is on my tablet’s cloud storage, and now I’m about to play this on the TV.”

Ellie got on her tablet to put the video file in the cloud drive. Then turned on the TV, got on the cloud drive, and played the movie.

In the movie, it was about this cruel Gen-Mod teen gang, led by Elena Vanderbilt, and Damon Kingston. They attended this school that’s living in fear of the Gen-Mods. The heroine, Jessie Hastings, teams up with her friends, to take down the vicious beautiful people. But one of them, Caleb Michaels, befriends the Gen-Mods, and willingly becomes a Converted, a normal human changed into a Gen-Mod through a procedure of injecting a serum into his system. In the end, the Gen-Mods are taken down, and destroyed, except for Caleb. But he gets sent to the Parliament to work with government officials.

After the movie was over, Rachel was cuddling into Nathan’s chest, as she was scared by some of the more horror scenes. As for everyone, they were silent. Then Nathan said, “That was awesome! Okay, this film looks like something a college student would film, but I love the plot! It’s amazing!”

Aaron said, “It’s kind of bad…but I can see why this would be a hit.”

Declan said, “It’s kind of stupid.”

Rachel asked Nathan, “Are those monsters gone now?”

Nathan chuckled as he told her, “Yeah, they’re gone.”

Ellie looked on her tablet, and said, “I just found out that the season 5 premiere of my fav show ever, Perfect Beings, is about to air in a about 30 minutes! We are so watching that!

Cheryl said, “OMFG, I love that show! I have to watch it in secret, but I love it.”

Rachel said, “I’ve never seen that show. My parents wouldn’t let me watch and read anything related to the Gen-Mod genre.”

Ellie said, “Really? My parents are like that, too.”

Aria said, “I bet all of our parents are like that.”

Aaron said, “As much as I think that genre is stupid, I find it weird that our parents wouldn’t let us watch or read that stuff.”

Ellie said, “Well, I’m going to get us some snacks, and we’ll watch the season 5 premiere of Perfect Beings.”

As soon as Ellie walked into the kitchen, Declan followed her. Once she got out some snacks, she asked him, “So Declan, what you think of that movie?”

Declan shrugged as he answered, “It’s okay. I’ve seen better, but then again, that movie came out when? 2016? 2017? Anyway, this movie definitely shows its’ age.”

“The director of that movie, Tristan Dexter, ended up making way better movies after that movie came out and became a huge hit.”

“True,” he smiled. “Anyway, got the snacks?”

“Yeah, I do.” Then she thought for a moment, and asked, “Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Gen-Mods were real?”

Declan thought for a moment, and said, “I don’t know. I think I would be scared. I mean, those people are fiercely beautiful, but they’re practically animals.”

“True, but it would be interesting if one of them were to end up as my boyfriend.”

“Don’t those Gen-Mod dudes act like those alpha douchebag werewolves? It’s so clichéd.”

Ellie scoffed, “Tell me about it. They do act like alpha douchebags. They think they can push their mates around. And I mean for both the Gen-Mod dudes and the werewolf dudes. One thing I cannot stand are dudes acting like they own their girlfriends.”

“I’m a guy, and I think it’s stupid. Wait, did the Gen-Mod genre borrow from the werewolf genre?”

“Yeah. Not everything, but some aspects of it. I swear, if a guy tells me they’re the alpha, and I have to do everything they say, I’ll hit him where it really hurts…then sue his ass off.”

Declan laughed, and said, “That would be great.”

Ellie also laughed, and said, “Well, let’s go back out there.”

As the two went back to the living area, the twins’ parents arrived home. Ellie quickly turned off the TV. She said, “Mom, dad! You’re home early!”

Alice told her, “Yeah, we’re not early. It’s only almost 7.”

The parents looked their group of friends. Adam asked, “So…what was going on while we were out?”

Nathan blurted out, “We watched this awesome movie!”

 “And what movie was it?

“Advanced Enhancements. It was so awesome.”

With that, Ellie’s face redden. Alice told the groups of teens, “Give me your parents’ phone numbers. We are going to have a meeting.”

The teens were shocked by this. Ellie asked, “Why? All we did was watch a Gen-Mod movie! What is so wrong about that?”

 “Eliza…”

“No! Mom, tell us now why we can’t watch and read any Gen-Mod related stuff?”

Alice and Adam looked at each other, then at the group. Adam said, “What we’re about to say is a lot to take. It involves some of your friends here.”

Alice added, “You’ve seen how the Gen-Mods act on TV, movies, and books. They act like cold-hearted human monsters. They look extremely beautiful, and they’re very powerful. But…what you see and read is not true.

“You see…Gen-Mods…they’re real. But they’re not monsters. They’re just like us, only more beautiful and powerful than us. They’re not cold-hearted people. They are a loving people.”

Then Adam looked Declan, Aria, and Nathan, and said cautiously, “And they’re your friends. The Gen-Mods wear glasses, and your three friends are wearing glasses.”

With that, the teens gasped. They couldn’t believe what they heard. But no one was more shocked than Declan, Aria, and Nathan. Ellie laughed nervously as she asked, “Okay, Gen-Mods are not real, okay? If they were real, I would’ve been mauled by now.”

 Declan muttered, “I can’t believe I’m a mutant. I’m a fucking mutant!”

Alice told them, “Look, no one is mutant, okay?”

Declan exclaimed, “Then why am I wearing glasses? Why do I feel different from everyone else?”

Alice and Adam looked at Declan. Then Adam told him, “You need to talk to you dad about this. We don’t know a whole lot about Gen-Mods, but your parents should know.”

Ellie then asked her parents, “Was that why you didn’t want me and Aaron watching and reading about Gen-Mods? Because they’re actual monsters?”

Adam told her, “Eliza, they are not monsters. They are just like us, but more…advanced than we are.”

She scoffed, “How advanced? We’re humans, not robots.”

With that, Ellie stormed off to her room. Aaron soon followed her. As for the others, Rachel was distraught. Nathan stammered, “Rachel, I didn’t know that I was a mutant.”

Rachel faced him, saying, “You should’ve told me!”

“How was I supposed to know when my parents told me nothing?”

“Look, I’m leaving. I won’t tell my dad that watched his monster movie…with a monster guy.”

With that, Rachel left the house. Cheryl and Justin awkwardly left. Aria and Declan sat on the couch, shocked. Alice asked them, “Do you want us to call your parents?”

Declan shook his head, and said, “No. We’ll leave now.”

So he got up. He walked out of the house with Aria.
