Chapter 1: Succinylcholine
Lustful eyes...
Wondrous hands...
Disgust...
Pain...
"Stop it, please! No! Stop!!"
"You'll feel good soon enough.."
Revulsion...
"AAAH!!"
Anyone... save me from this hell.
Her eyes opened. Heavy breaths escaped her lips. She reached for the orange tinted capsule on her night stand before gulping down two white pills that calmed her erratic heartbeat.
"Reina?" Arms wrapped around her. "Ça va, ma chérie?" [Are you okay, my love?]
She nodded numbly. He pressed his lips against her neck, gently combing back her hair to expose more skin. Her eyes closed, tilting her head, granting him more access.
Their lips touched, sucking, biting, moaning. Her tongue pushed the pill into his mouth. He smiled, thinking it was nothing more than the same ecstasy pill they had used previously.
His muscles suddenly clenched. He gasped, pulling away. Spasms suddenly rippled throughout his body. He lay on the cold floor, screaming in complete terror.
Silence overtook the room. His body lay still but his eyes darted around the room, wide with confusion and fear as to why he lay immobilized. He stared at his lover, noticing the bored look on her face.
"Succinylcholine." She stated, standing up before walking to the bathroom that was connected to the room. Her body was bare, showing off her stunning figure. He took a moment to give her a once over, even in a situation like this, his boxers becoming painfully tight.
"It's a neuromuscular-blocking drug. Fatal if given too much." Reina removed her green contacts before turning on the sink. She wiped away the makeup that she wore only to suit his taste. Her fingers brushed through the luscious blonde locks before pulling off the wig.
The woman turned around, revealing her true self. Her eyes were a rare color, tinted purple. Dark, midnight hair cascaded over her shoulders, stopping mid back. The makeup covered the flawless light olive complexion, her face mesmerizingly beautiful. He stared in confusion, the girl in front of him completely different from the person he had come to know for a month.
"Calvin Beaumort. Age 34. Height 5'11. Preferences: Blonde hair, green eyes, low IQ. Leader of the French Quarter's illegal weapons and ammunitions trade. Clients include terrorists and assassins. Wanted dead or alive." She recited, watching his eyes widen.
She walked forward, watching him cower in fear. A laugh escaped her lips before she disappeared into the closet, picking out her attire.
"I was assigned to you, Mr. Beaumort. My mission was to compile evidence. You really need to work on being more discreet."
Reina came out in a maroon leather jacket, dark jeans paired with knee high stiletto boots. Calvin's heart froze at the gun strapped to her hip. He desperately tried to scream for help but his voice box remained inoperable.
She threw files to the ground, papers flying and scattering. "Every phone call. Every conversation. Your computer. Your secret office. Your victims. I saw and heard everything."
Sirens echoed down the street, approaching the mansion.
"Goodbye, mon chéri."
She turned on her heel, heading towards the door.
Calvin mustered all the strength within him. "Bitch.. Rot in hell.."
Foam began to drip from his mouth, one last fatal shock rippling through his body. He went deathly still, his heartbeat slowing to a stop.
She laughed, dropping the French accent. "No, thank you. But thanks for the invitation." She threw him a wink before leaving.
Mission complete.
As she started her walk back to the hotel, her phone buzzed in her pocket. Her eyes narrowed at the unknown ID number. Pressing the answer button, she brought it to her ear and spoke,
"Who is this?"
There was a short pause before the person on the end finally answered. Her body stiffened for a moment, recognizing that voice anywhere. It's been so long since she heard his welcoming voice.
"Reina, it's been a while."
"Yes it has, Watari."
~ * ~
Reina Dubois. Reina Schwarz. Reina Lee. Reina Yumiko. Her name depends on where she is assigned. Though, to those who are associated with her know her by:
The Seductress. A succubus-like woman that lures men to obtain what she wants, completing each and every mission with a 100% success rate. She has mastered most languages, traveling around the world to complete her assignments. No one knows what she looks like, her appearance changing per task. And she always gets what she wants.
Teito Hotel. Room 265. Read the documents sent via email. -Watari
Reina's eyes followed the scenery outside the taxi window, amazed by the buildings in Japan. Feeling a stare, she glanced towards the driver, catching him staring at her cleavage. He looked away once she noticed, clearing his throat.
She rolled her eyes, fixing her dark corset and floored skirt. Adjusting her sunglasses, she looked into her pocket sized mirror to touch up her scarlet lipstick before the taxi finally stopped in front of a large hotel.
Opening the car door, the driver removed his suitcase from the trunk. "Arigato." [Thank you]
Her phone buzzed.
Where are you? You're an hour late. -Watari
"Damn." She muttered, picking up her pace. The elevator carried her to the third level. The doors opened, revealing a floor of luxurious rooms.
There stood a familiar old man.
"Watari?"
He smiled, the corners of his eyes crinkled. "Reina, it's good to see you."
Her eyes brightened, dropping her luggage. She ran up to him and threw her arms around him, tears brimming. Her voice held sadness as she spoke, "I missed you so much."
"I did too, my dear." He pried her arms off, smiling. "My, my, you've become so beautiful."
"And you've become even older." She laughed, gesturing to his wizened face and aging hair. He chuckled, ruffling her hair knowing how much that use to annoy her.
Her lips pouted, whining slightly. "Waaatari, my hair!"
"You have not changed at all, Reina." He observed with a faraway look in his dark eyes.
She inquired teasingly, "Is that a good or bad thing?"
"Definitely good. Now, let's catch up later. There's someone more eager to see you than I am," Watari said, walking towards one of the hotel rooms. She quickly followed, already knowing who waited beyond those doors.
A certain young man crouched behind a computer screen, deep in thought as he analyzed what glared back at him. Files were scattered around him, and he was so engrossed in his work that he did not hear the door open.
His dark, tired eyes narrowed at the screen that showed an F.B.I. agent dying of a heart attack at a train station. He had watched the tapes over and over again. He had a sneaking suspicion that this man died differently than the others... but how?
"His face shows pure determination, his last act before he dies. He's trying to see what's behind him, trying to look back into the train. But at exactly what? What was so important as he lay dying?"
L stilled, hearing the familiar voice. He tilted his head, Reina inches away from him as she stared analytically at the screen.
She observed, "His eyes widen at the last second. I believe that he recognized the person. If he didn't, he would have frowned in confusion instead. Wait.. did his mouth just move? He must have said that person's name. Damn, it's too pixelated. Can't know for sure."
She turned her head. Their faces centimeters apart. Reina blinked in surprise, seeing the lost and almost hopelessness in his eyes.
"Reina.."
Her lips formed a smile. "Miss me?"
"You're b-back?"
Many memories resurfaced in her head. She knew him more than anyone. He was just a boy, shackled by the burden of the expectation of saving the world. Though he has many allies and those he can rely on, he remains in an abyss of loneliness, no one knowing his true hopes and desires. Though he may seem strong, he is weak. Only one person ever brightening his world.
Her arms wrapped around his neck, whispering into his ear. "I missed you, Lawliet."
She was the only one who understood that he was only human.
He embraced her body, holding on like he was afraid of letting go.
"I've missed you too, Lorraine."
