Sophie spent most of the taxi ride in silence, listening to her iPod. The driver, who had introduced himself as Kevin, had medium length dark brown hair and a surly but kind looking face. Sophie assumed he had handled many kids going to college.

Sophie let the music distract her from missing her family, and stared out the window, taking in the passing scenery.

"We're here."
Sophie snapped her head to the front window of the car and was greeted with tornado of action, lights flashing, people running around, planes leaving, cars speeding around, so much so that Sophie gasped. She had never gone to an airport before, since her mom suffered from airsickness.
"It's so.... big."
Kevin chuckled, "pretty busy too, be sure not to get lost."
"Thank you!" Sophie exited the car, paying the driver.
"Good luck."
Sophie smiled, and walked across the sidewalk and through the doors.
She stopped, the doors swooshing together behind her. Shouldering her purple backpack and adjusting her handle on her lavender roller, Sophie took in a deep breath and walked over to check her suitcase, being guided by the signs to the correct airline area.
...................

"Hi! How may I help you today!"
Sophie suddenly began to feel nervous.
"I um.... I would like to check this bag," Sophie said, pointing towards her suitcase.
"Sure!"
They weighed the baggage, put a tag on it, and then Sophie watched it be taken away on the conveyor belt. She thanked the worker, and followed the signs toward security. Everything there went fairly smoothly, her dad had explained to her how it worked, and the security guards and workers helped her though as well. The real trouble was when Sophie was faced with the task of finding her boarding area. She stood, staring at all the restaurants, signs, hallways, stores, and people milling around. Sophie's palms began to sweat.

How was she ever supposed to find the right flight waiting area?

Bum bum bummmmmmmmmm.....
How will she do it? Okay well it wasn't that big of a cliffhanger but I hope you liked the chapter! Sorry I haven't really updated in some time but I'm going to try to be more frequent!
